Winning Splinterlands Battle Experience with Equal Opportunity Ruleset

Hi Splinterlands friends, it's been a long while. I have not played this fun game for long because my device got bad and I could not fix it. We all know the bear season and raising some funds to get a new one was also hard. I'm glad that after nearly a month, I am back to engage Splinterlands. Seen a lot of improvements in the gaming interface and I thank the team for such a great work put in so far.

Trying to play some battles today, I drew the EQUAL OPPORTUNITY ruleset and it sounded like a simple ruleset until the battle started. It was all different from what I had in my mind but I won. Replaying the battle to see what gave my team the winning advantage inspired this post title.

The splinterlands game gets more versatile everyday. When you think you have known it all another face emerges. I have been contemplating which is superior between a card's ability and other stats. Every splinterlands player should understand much or all about the card stats to help you battle effectively.

These stats are the combination of numbers and abilities that make every Splinterlands card unique. The rating of Health, speed, attack, armor, abilities, elements and manna cost makes the card function in a certain way. Where any of the numbers changes, it can affect the overall functioning of the card.

Equal Opportunity Ruleset Explained

All units gain the Opportunity ability which allows them to attack the unit with the lowest health on the enemy team.

First, it is good to know that Opportunity ability even does for the monster in battle. Opportunity ability monster may attack from any position and will target the enemy Monster with the lowest health.

I can say that monsters with opportunity ability are intelligent. They look for enemy monsters that are most vulnerable to launch their attack first.

Here is my Battle report with the Equal Opportunity ruleset.

When I drew this ruleset, I carefully selected Four (4) monsters - 2 Melee, 1 magic attack monster with tank heal ability and 1 no attack monster with tank heal ability. Their manna cap added to make up 22 manna cap for the battle. It was a long battle of about 7 rounds. Look up my battle line-up.

My Battle Experience with Equal Opportunity Ruleset

My Battle Line-up
Summoner: KELYA FRENDUL
First Monster Unit: LEMELL REFUGEE - (Abilities: Void armor) This makes it fit well to lead battle.
Second Monster Unit: DEEPLURKER, no specific reason in this battle ruleset.
Third Monster Unit: MERDAALI GUARDIAN (Abilities: Tank Heal) Good support system for lead monster to replenish health each round.
Fourth Monster Unit: ICE PIXIE - low manna cap but with flying ability that dodges some attacks.
Combat Rule: Equal Opportunity: All units gain the Opportunity ability which allows them to attack the unit with the lowest health on the enemy team.

My Battle Strategy

The moment I drew that battle ruleset, I knoew my DEEPLURKER has no advantage over other monsters. My strategy was to choose cards with high attack and health stats, bearing in mind the manna cap for the battle. That was why I resorted to LEMELL REFUGEE with the void ability and DEEPLURKER with 3 melee attack.

The battle lasted for seven rounds but my team survived the heat with two monsters standing at the end of the battle and these were LEMELL REFUGEE and DEEPLURKER.

Conclusion

I won the battle and it was quite a simple one for me. This is because my cards for the battle had better stats. Good speed, good attack and well positioned.

Sometimes, luck play out in splinterlands battle and sometimes you haev to be very strategic especially when rulesets like "equal opportunity is drawn that gives both sides of the team a levelled playing ground.
