Splinterlands introduced a new contest called, "Battle Mage Secrets", which would focus on player's creativity on how they handle different rules of combat.

Fortunately, we're already doing that during day 1 so there's not going to be any changes in my format. All battles revolve in the rules and if you don't abide by the rules, you will always find yourself losing.

While this battle may be the most efficient, I will still tell you all my thoughts including what you should do to improve. In this battle review, we'll check one of the most underused monster in Death element despite of him being really strong.

Thaddius Brood

Diving into dark arts is never a good idea. But with Thaddius Brood's fascination with the occult, he cast rituals and dark ceremonies, which, eventually, is the cause of him going into madness.

His family sent him to an asylum but did no help. The entity inside Thaddius grew more powerful until the fine line between his humanity diminished. With the help of the entity, Thaddius broke from his prison and now wreaks havoc everywhere he goes. Through his rituals, a certain Doctor Blight got interested in his power.

Thaddius joined the Chaos Legions as an agent in Splinterlands wreaking havoc in the battlefield.

Dhampir Stalker

Dhampirs are the agents of darkness. They are mostly adapted to a mercenery lifestyle being paid to eliminate targets. The Stalker is an expert on dispatching its target from a mile. They follow the prey, and slowly place the arrow on their long bows. Pull the strings and release. The arrows shoots silently and they get their targets every time.

Thaddius Brood is expensive. He has a good ability and low mana cost so he's actually pretty good in a lot of matches. You can get one for $42.92 for a level 4 but I'm not sure if it's worth to spend that much over buying packs.

The one on this photo is kind of higher than normal. I rent mine at around 25 DEC per day but this changes from the start of the season going downhill to 45 DEC towards the end of the season.

You can get a good level 4 of Dhampir Stalker for $3.33 although it's not a must buy to be honest. I've not seen a lot of people using it in silver and gold league so there's a lot of supply in the market.

Continuing from where I've left, since there's a lot of supply for the Dhampir Stalker, the rental price of it is really low. You can rent a level 4 for 2.42 DEC and the price kind of sticks around that. I don't think the price exceed 7 DEC at most so it's really a cheap rent to be with you whether you use him or not.

Thaddius Brood is a rare summoner. I would say that he's quite decent for a 4 mana summoner. Even though I'm in Gold now, I only still rent a level 4 which allows me to do max Silver cap. It allows me to at least not get too much penalties in Gold but if I have more funds, I would like max Gold cap as well as it would surely boost my winning in Gold.

Abilities

-1 Health. All opponent's monster's health are decreased by 1 with a minimum of 1. All monsters that have 1 health before the effect applies are unaffected.

-1 Magic. All opponent's monster's magic damage are decreased by 1 with a minimum of 1. All monsters that have 1 magic damage before the effect applies are unaffected.

Dhampir Stalker is actually really strong with 4 damage at level 4. While he has only decent speed, his ability is really good in order to hit those attacks.

Abilities

Dhampir Stalker on Aimless Rule of Combat?
? π‘Ύπ’‰π’š 𝒐𝒓 π‘Ύπ’‰π’š 𝒏𝒐𝒕?

Yes. Dhampir Stalker has one of the highest damage on early levels. At level 4, you get bonus damage which raises his damage to a solid 4. This means he can one to three shots a lot of monsters. If there's no Back to Basics, his True Strike ability is a good counter against speedy comps as his attacks ALWAYS hits. Dhampir Stalker is a strong one and that's why I kept renting him regardless of if there's a chance to use him or not.

Having a random 4 range hit your monster is scary especially if you don't have any armor on them. This makes Dhampir Stalker on a higher threat than normal.

Summoner: Thaddius Brood: While the -1 magic damage to all opponents is not useful because of Lost Magic rule of combat, the -1 health to all opponents is still a good general ability.

  1. Corpse Fiend: A 0 mana cost monster that can be used as a blocker.
  2. Wily Coyotian: I've recently started to use this. He costs 2 mana but his extra shield allows him to take more attacks.
  3. Chaos Agent: A neutral 1 mana cost for blocker.
  4. Riftwing: A low cost 4 mana monster with high speed to avoid attacks and high health for absorbing any attacks that passes through. I'll not discuss the abilities as Back to Basics disables it for this battle.
  5. Dhampir Stalker: Decent cost monster for a high damage. Can one shot to three shot almost any monsters due to his high damage.

α—ͺIα—ͺ YOα‘Œα–‡ α”•Tα–‡α—©TEGY α—―Oα–‡KEα—ͺ?

Yes. The main idea of this lineup is to spread out the number of monsters so that the opponent will also have lower chance of hitting Dhampir Stalker. This is not the most efficient lineup for this rule of combat but I will definitely say that the mana cap is really restricting on what I want to play.

Also, most of my power in Death element comes from Melee and Magic so the two rules of combat, Lost Magic and Back to Basics, also hindered me in that aspect.

α—―α•Όα—©T α—―Iα’ͺα’ͺ YOα‘Œ Tα–‡Y α—ͺIα–΄α–΄Eα–‡Eα‘ŽTα’ͺY α‘ŽEα™T TIα—°E?

Thaddius Brood. My summoner would be Contessa L'ament or Camila Sungazer. This battle happened towards the end of the season so both of my summoners expired. I don't want to use a level 1 Starter Contessa L'ament as the monster levels will suffer and thus, this is the most efficient build I have at that time.

However, if I have all of my rented cards, I would say most important is changing Thaddius Brood to Contessa L'ament. Contessa L'ament reduces all opponent's range monster's attack by 1. Melee attack goes in front so it's easier to anticipate. Back to Basics removes the possibility of Sneak and Opportunity for melee and Snipe for range to attack elsewhere. Contessa L'ament reduces the Scattershot damage of possible range which may damage Dhampir Stalker and that's the reason why it's the most important change in this battle.

I haven't played splinterlands for over a year. I didn't know that you can rent the cards. I have some, can I rent them?

If you're not playing Splinterlands but have some cards, have them rented in the marketplace. It's easy as clicking a few buttons, and setting up the price.

If you're not going to monitor it, I would suggest setting the price at a minimum of 1.10 DEC. I'm not sure if it's applied already but the devs implemented a 1 DEC fee for renting out cards. So, if you rent it at minimum of 1.10, you will have a profit of 0.10 dec at least.

If no one rented it, well, it's also no problem as you're not profitting from it when you don't rent it in the first place.

Also, if you have SPS in the account, no matter how much, stake it. You don't need to monitor it as well. Anything you don't claim, will be automatically staked as well increasing your staked SPS without doing anything.
