My 100% Win Rate 30 Mana Build

30 mana kraken comp 2.gif

Introduction

As those who commonly visit my Share Your Battle posts, you know how I love using The Kraken. He's super strong with Taunt ability that can protect your back row so you won't have to think a lot about if your opponent would use Snipe, Opportunity or Sneak. That ability counters all of that.

For better or worse, I seem to have found the PERFECT 30 mana team composition. This is without any bias that I have currently 100% win rate with this line up when it comes to 30 mana. Of course that may change depending on the rules of combat but for standard 30 mana battle, I haven't had any loss yet. Not a single one

This may look like a biased post but believe me. I wanted to lose at least once so this wouldn't look hand picked but I never did. At least never lost when I put these guys in play.

Stats

Stats.PNG
Photo from my Splinterlands account.

The main character for this team is still The Kraken. His amazing stats allows him to be the sole tank of the team even allowing to take a full rotation of damage from the enemy team. His Taunt takes in all the damage disabling other's target and pressuring the opponent to hit him instead.

Merdaali Guardian and Scavo Hireling acts as a support restoring the health and armor or The Kraken respectively.

Deeplurker's role is that of an assassin taking care of the non-tank while occassionally executing the front line if The Kraken's damage was not enough.

Hardy Stonefish and Xenith Archer both acts as a fill that is interchangeable with other monsters.

Abilities

The Kraken:

Taunt.png

At level 1, Taunt is unlocked. All enemies are forced to target this card. This includes, but not limited to, all range and magic attacks, opportunity, snipe and sneak.

Demoralize.png

At level 2, Demoralized is unlocked. Gives -1 melee damage to all opponents. The lower the opponent's damage, the easier to control the heals.

Enrage.png

At level 3, Enrage is unlocked. Increases speed and melee attack by half while damaged. When healed to full health, the bonus stats is also removed.

Retalliate.png

At level 4, Retaliate is unlocked. Has a chance of attacking the opponent's melee attacker that targetted this card. Only works when the opponent's a melee monster.

DeepLurker:

Opportunity.png

At Level 1, Opportunity Ability is unlocked. It allows Deeplurker to attack from the back. Targets the opponent's monster with the lowest health.

Poison.png

At level 7, Poison is unlocked. Monster with Poison ability has a chance of inflicting poisoned status to the target. Poisoned monsters take 2 damage every start of the round until it dies or gets cleansed.

Demoralize.png

At level 10, Demoralized is unlocked. Demoralize gives -1 melee damage to all opponents. The lower the opponent's damage, the easier to control the heals.

Merdaali Guardian:

Tank Heal.png

At level 1, Tank Heal is unlocked.

Repair.png

At level 5, Repair is unlocked. Repair restores armor to the monster with the most damaged armor. It can target monsters in any position.

Strengthen.png

At level 8, Strengthen is unlocked. Strengthen gives +1 Max Health to all allied monsters. The higher the health, the higher the healing they also receive from Heal and Tank Heal abilities.

Scavo Hireling:

Repair.png

At level 1, Repair is unlocked. Repair restores armor to the monster with the most damaged armor. It can target monsters in any position.

Camouflage.png

At level 6, Camouflage is unlocked. Monsters with Camouflage cannot be targetted by attacks unless they are in 1st position. While this is very useful, it's a bit useless in this line up as The Kraken's Taunt will take the target of the attacks.

Slow.png

At level 10, Slow is unlocked. Slow gives -1 Speed to all opponents as long as this monter is alive. The lower the opponent's speed, the higher the chance for their attacks to miss. Speed also determines who acts first per round.

Author's Notes

Aqua Teacher.png

Do you like The Kraken and the current line up?? Why or Why not?

Yes. The Kraken eliminates the need to prepare for monsters targetting your back row. You can focus on using monsters buffing your team which would increase your chance of winning as well.

Lineup

30 mana lineup.PNG

Summoner: Bortus: Gives -1 magic damage to all opponents. Good against Earth elements to counter Obsidian.

  1. The Kraken: The strongest monster in all of Splinterlands. Has high health and damage with Taunt ability to absorb all the opponent's attack.

  2. Hardy Stonefish: Seems to be only a filler as the line up can still work on 29 mana without Hardy Stonefish.

  3. Deeplurker: The other damage type on the team. Has opportunity ability so he can attack from the back while targetting the lowest health opponent.

  4. Merdaali Guardian: Has Tank Heal to restore The Kraken's health. Since The Kraken has 14 health, Merdaali Guardian heals him for 4 health instead of 2. (14/3 = 4.66, Rounded up is 4).

  5. Scavo Hireling: Has Repair ability that restores the monster with the highest damaged armor, which is most of the time, The Kraken.

  6. Xenith Archer: Another filler. Has range damage to assist killing the opponent's front line.

Did your strategy worked?

Yes. While the Kraken is taking the brunt of the attacks, Scavo Hireling and Merdaali Guardian kept restoring his health and armor. This allowed him to survive until the very end.

Deeplurker was waiting for the perfect opportunity to kill multiple opponents both front and back which decreases the over all damage and in turn allowed Scavo Hireling and Medaali Guardian to have an easier life during that battle.

What will you try differently next time?

To me, the lineup is perfect but the fillers can be changed if you have or prefer the others:

  1. Hardy Stonefish can be exchanged with Creeping Ooze. Creeping Ooze has a slow ability that could help decrease opponent's speed and may increase the chance that your opponent's attacks misses.
  2. Xenith Archer can be exchanged with Battering Ram. Battering Ram has Opportunity Ability that can help Deeplurker assassinating the opponent's back line.
  3. Exchange Hardy Stonefish to a 0 mana like Torrent Fiend and Xenith Archer to a 3 mana monster. This seems to be the best but expensive but you will also have a lot of good choices like an extra tank healer for an overkill.

There's a lot of changes but some of the old cards like The Kraken is still the best.
