Introduction

Hi, everyone! Konaqua-desu! Here's my entry for Splinterland's current Share Your Battle Challenge.

This contest is designed to provide your experience and insight playing Splinterlands, a super fun NFT Deck building card game, where you can earn while you play!

Lore

Venari Card Regular wve.png

Banished from Below 3 of 5 - A massive race of rat-like people called venari have lived in the Strite for thousands of years. They are skilled technicians and mechanics who can make advanced devices and tools the likes of which Splinterlanders have never seen.

Venari Card Gold wve.png

The venari controls powerful forms of magic that they have synthesized from the minerals and mana flows of the Strite. Through their complex field of science called smithing, they have been able to create and recreate many types of natural and magical phenomena from any magical element.

Stats and Abilities

Stats wve.png

There are 2 levels that I think is important to take note.

Initially, Venari Wavesmith gets a very good ability called protect that provides +2 armor to all your monsters.

At level 4, Venari Wavesmith increases damage by 1 which is good if you're using it a lot of time.

At level 5, Venari Wavesmith unlocks dispel, which may not be the best ability, but still an extra ability that can help in specific situations.

Protect.png

Protect increases the chane of survival of your monsters by providing extra 2 armor as long as Venari Wavesmith is alive. Very good on swarm builds and protecting your back ine against sneaks and snipes.

Dispel.png

Dispel is an ability that I don't see or think too much of an advantage. The reason for that is that there's only a few abilities that stick to the monsters. Effects like inspire or those that tends to increase the stats of the monsters, normally dies first before they can abuse its effects.

Mana Cap & Rules

Vnari Mana wve.png

A mid mana cap of 25 allowing you to use "some" big monsters. Make sure you balance your team as if your main front line dies, your back line might be in danger of being wiped out.

Standard - No changes on both rules and mechanics of the game.

Team Lineup

  • Summoner: Kelya Frendul: She is what I call "Mini Wavesmith". The 1 extra armor is like a mini protect ability which is good in swarm builds. Swarm builds means using a bunch of low mana cost monsters to form a pseudo-front line instead of one big monster.
  1. Diemonshark: High health, high armor, high speed. Everything you want for a good front line is with this unit.
  2. Deeplurker: I like this card because of combination of high damage and opportunity ability allowing me to take kills while waiting to go o he front line.
  3. Venari Wavesmith: He is my staple in water builds. The mid mana with protect allows you to have flexibility on swarm builds especially if you have Kelya Frendul as your summoner.
  4. Battering Ram: Very efficient and, in my opinion, card. He's melee and has opportunity like Deeplurker and with Kelya - Wavesmith combo, Battering Ram can also act as a mini front line.

  5. This line up is not that ideal with Venari Wavesmith because most of the monsters already have high health. Protect would just be a bonus, like a cherry on top, but even so, you can never have too much armor in Splinterlands.

    Battle Highlights

Below is the battle per round.

Red texts indicate what I lost that round.

    Round 4

    Round 4 wve.png

    • Dark Astronomer dies from Diemonshark's attack.

A clean game ending me in a win after 4 rounds.

    Author's Notes

    Did your strategy worked?

    YES

The high defenses of my monsters allowed then to triumph over the opponent. The extra armor allows my Battering Ram to survive a lot of turns which helped in dealing damage throughout the game.

What will you try differently next time?

I think the strategy worked but could be better by using low mana cost monsters. Quantity over Quality is where Venari Wavesmith shines.

Do you like Venari Wavesmith ? Why or Why not?

I really like using protect ability and a bunch of low mana cost monsters. I think the build is strong unless you're against magic damage builds, wherein their attacks passes through your monster's armor. Other than that, I think it's a good strategy not being utilized by many.
