The tips and possible advises in this article are designed for Silver and above League, in which I am in right now.

Introduction

Everyone brushes off how strong Thaddius Brood is simply because the Death Splinter packs weaker than other Splinters.

Death is a counter deck and it shines if you outsmarts your opponents by playing into the palm of your hands.

In this battle, let me remind you of why Thaddius Brood is one of the strongest summoner in the game despite being a rare summoner from the Chao Legion.

He's actually good for a 4 mana cost summoner. Being a rare summoner as well, he doesn't require too much and hundreds of cards to level up unlike common summoners.

If you can find monsters that can complement his -1 magic damage such as monsters with Void abilities, he's a strong summoner to have.

Abilities:

-1 Magic: [Stat Modifier] [Negative Status] All opponent monsters has their magic damage reduced by 1, with a minimum of 1. Monsters with 1 magic damage before the effect applies are unaffected.

-1 Health: [Stat Modifier] [Negative Status] All opponent monsters has their Max Health reduced by 1, with a minimum of 1. Monsters with 1 Max Health before the effect applies are unaffected.

Pros

  1. Very Strong Abilities. Both his abilities are very strong. Even if your opponents doesn't have magic damage, you can be sure that the reduced max health would come in handy all the time.
  2. Low Mana Cost. Boasting a mana cost of only 4, you can freely add him in all your battles without giving up too much of the allottted mana for that fight.
  3. Inexpensive Rental for Lower League. While the maximum level are expensive, the level 4 and below, which is good enough for low gold, aren't. Your wallet won't need to bleed if you only rent it for up to gold. Otherwise, buying is probably more expensive but more efficient for the long term.

Cons

  1. Hit or Miss abilities.
Like I said, the magic damage may be a miss. It's still a disadvantage especially since you cannot control what your opponents will be using each game.
  2. Death monsters are not good in high mana cost matches.
I've tried this a lot and there' no monsters with high mana that I consider good. Most of them are decent at best. Even their legendary monsters either have very low health or decent damage. If you are playing with high mana cap battles, I suggest using other Splinters other than Death as you will lose almost every time.
  3. A bit expensive at Max level.
I rented mine around 60 DEC per day. While it doesn't look expensive, you can think of DEC as a 1000:1 . So, if you are going to rent regularly, for Thaddius Brood alone, you can say that it would cost you $1 for 16 days of rental.

All monsters on the board are given the poisoned status at the start of the battle. Poisoned monsters take 2 damage at the start of every round.: With that reduced max health, you can make sure that you have the advantage if you're battling your opponent on who will die from poison first.

During this battle, all monster's abilities are disabled:
Death Splinter is very weak in comparison to other Splinters. This is much more apparent when all you and your opponents rely on are stats without the use of abilities.

Healed Out
All healing effects and abilities are disabled during this battle.:
Death lacks Tank Heal abilities but there are a few that can use Heal abilities by themselves such as Cursed Windeku. Devoiding them of this small survivability is a bit much in my opinion.

You can rent Xenith Monk at max level but if you can have at least Void ability at level 6, that's good enough.

With only 3 mana cost, you can have a Void monster starting at level 3, which is very strong when combined with Thaddius Brood's -1 magic damage.

Fenmoor Haunt.jpg
Fenmoor Haunt
Another monster with Void ability but this time, at level 5. You won't use him as a tank regardless due to his low health but it's always better to have options.

This lineup is very decent. You have a tank that can survive due to his Heal ability while being supported by the summoner. Most damage also comes from either magic damage or Poison which complements the -1 Max Health ability of Thaddius Brood.

Lineup

Thaddius Brood

A bit expensive as a summoner in max levels but good combo with Xenith Monk and in general.

Xenith card.PNG
Xenith Monk

A neutral monster that is taking my interest lately. He's also very inexpensive to rent despite how strong his abilities are.

Venari card.PNG
Venari Bonesmith

Another inexpensive rental. The poison damage is really good and the Life Leech ability gives this monster a tanky stat if not taken cared of immediately.

Uraeus card.PNG
Uraeus

He only needs 3 mana cost but has Sneak, good melee damage, Poison ability and extra armor. Good for delaying the opponent's big damages from striking at the back.

Magi card.PNG
Magi Necrosi

Has Camouflage ability and high damage along with Snipe ability. The ability keeps him safe long enough to deal with any supports the opponents might have.

The battle was very easy. I had a huge level advantage and my Uraeus poisoning the opponent's Uraeus early just made my opponent's life worse.

Author's Note Banner.gif

The 4 monsters are starting to become staple in my Death games. If given high enough levels, they can pull their weight. This is a good experience for me since I REALLY struggle at low mana fights and these monsters, excluding Magi Necrosi, does not need high mana to function.
