There is an art for predicting your opponent's builds in Splinterlands. By knowing the rules of combat and other factors, you can increase your chance of predicting and countering your opponent which can give you a higher chance of winning.

Just a quick example in this battle, I know that my opponent will avoid using magic damage since the current rule of combat is counterspell. Since there is also Fog of War, this limits the opponent's melee monsters as they cannot attack from the rear without Sneak and Opportunity abilities.

Lastly, by looking the available elements, Life Splinter has the highest chance of being used due to General Sloan's increased range damage. This gives me the information that my opponent would most likely use range monsters and therefore, I can counter it by using this one card.

General Sloan is a Rare summoner from the Chaos Legion Series.

Level 4 Rare summoners allow the use of:

General Sloan is on the normal side being a rare summoner. You don't need a lot to level them up but will still require a bit of a budget for higher levels.

I would say that Anachron Bolter is on a decent side. It would be strong, in my opinion, if not for that high 8 mana cost. While it doesn't have a strong damage or high enough health to defend your team, the most important is the ability he gives in this battle.

At level 1, Headwinds is unlocked. [Stat Modifier] [Negative Status] As long as this monster is alive, all opponent monsters has their range damage reduced by 1, with a minimum of 1. Monsters with 1 range damage before the effect applies are unaffected.

This is a very strong ability if you can predict your opponent using a lot of range monsters.

At level 6, Repair is unlocked. [Stat Modifier] [Negative Status] As long as this monster is alive, all opponent monsters has their range damage reduced by 1, with a minimum of 1. Monsters with 1 range damage before the effect applies are unaffected.

An all rounder good ability to support your team. It's good at all times and there's only a few times when it is bad, when the rule of combat denies you of being able to use Repair.

General Sloan: General Sloan is the best summoner for these rules of combat since range monsters are not affected in these battle.

1. Ulundin Overseer: High health passive monster with Flank ability. Flank gives the monster on the 2nd position Reach ability that allows them to attack even if they're in 2nd position.
2. Drybone Barbarian: High damage melee monster placed at the second due to Ulundin Overseer's Flank ability.
3. Pelacor Conjurer: High speed 2 mana cost passive monster. The higher the speed of the monster, the less the chance they would miss their attacks.
4. Zyriel: Main damage for the team with the Range Weapons Training. Gives range damage to the other passive monsters beside her. Also compatible with General Sloan's ability.
5. Clockwork Aide: High armor that would serve as a blocker for opponent's melee and range monsters. But the more important is the Swiftness ability to increase the speed of your team.
6. Anachron Bolter: Headwinds is really strong in countering the opponent's General Sloan.

ᗪIᗪ YOᑌᖇ ᔕTᖇᗩTEGY ᗯOᖇKEᗪ?

Yes.. While it doesn't look like much, the Headwinds countered some of the damage the opponent increased which allowed my two tanks to survive longer while the other monsters inflict the damage needed to eliminate the opponent.

None.. I always try to use the best possible lineup for each battle. If there's something I want to change, it's probably simply higher levels of the monsters but I won't change the lineup of the monsters in general.

General Sloan and Anachron Bolter in Counterspell Rules of Combat

? 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒐𝒓 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒏𝒐𝒕?

Yes.. General Sloan not only complements Anachron Bolter but helps in giving you advantage for the mirror matches. The only negative part is the high mana cost for Anachron Bolter which makes him basically unusable in low mana fights.
