Bera Dallin, The Unsung Hero of Light

Bera Dallin is one of the classic defensive monsters for the Life element. She costs 11 mana so you already expect something big from her. When you look at her stats, you can see why she is one of the strongest tanks in the game. At max level, Bera Dallin has 7 armor, 14 health, and 4 speed which is very solid for a tank. At level 1, she already comes with Taunt and Armored Strike. That means she is designed to stand in front and take all the hits for the team. As she levels up, she gains Shield and Void Armor which makes her even harder to kill.

In many battles, the tank decides everything. If your tank falls too fast, the rest of your team collapse. Bera Dallin helps prevent that problem. Her stats and abilities are very reliable and when built correctly, Bera Dallin might be the only tank you need. Even if newer monsters exist, I still think that Bera Dallin is one of the strongest frontline defender in the game.

Stats

Bera Dallin is a really strong defender especially for Life element. It is sad to see though that she gets overshined by the newer units but Bera Dallin is still one of the best in my opinion. At max level, her defensive value is really high because it's hard to find monsters with Shield and Taunt on the same monster. Bera Dallin didn't only have both but she also has high health, armor and Void Armor. If you can add Void to her abilities through some means, you can make her unbelievably strong and the only tank you might need for all of your battles.

At level 1, Armored Strike is unlocked. At higher levels, Bera Dallin has high armor so this can be a good thing. The problem is the Taunt ability redirects attack to her This ability becomes a lot weaker once Bera Dalling gets to max level and you can use the armor to block magic damage as well. So, this ability just serves as a bonus damage but because of Taunt and the other abilities she have, you cannot rely on Armored Strike to deal a lot of damage in the fights.

Taunt is the main reason to use Bera Dallin. It forces all enemy attacks to target her. This protects your healers, damage dealers and other important monsters. With Taunt, you control where the enemy damage goes. That also means you can control where to best put your resources. It works very well with Tank Heal, Repair, and even Resurrect strategies. This ability alone can completely hinder Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity which are the hardest to deal with in this game.

Shield reduces melee and range damage by half. When combined with Taunt, this becomes very powerful. Since all melee and range attacks are redirected to Bera Dallin, Shield gets more value since there are more melee and range attacks hitting her than other units. Shield also helps Bera Dallin survives much longer against these damage especially if the opponents used a full team of melee or range damage. In modifiers that uses more melee monsters like Up Close & Personal, Shield becomes very powerful and valuable.

Void Armor allows magic damage to hit armor first before health. This is very strong because Bera Dallin has high armor especially on higher levels. Normally, magic ignores armor, but with this ability, her 7 armor becomes protection against magic too. At max level, she becomes scary because she can block all three types of damage better. With Resurrect, she returns with 1 health but full armor, making Void Armor much stronger. This ability makes her more complete as a tank.

Battle

Since Sheng Xiao is my archon in this battle, I used two monsters with Taunt, Bera Dallin and Bellowmancer, in this battle. Applying Corrosive Ward and Poison Burst on those monsters make sure they die fast and applies Poison Burst immediately. While I wait for the two monsters as my sacrifice, the team does damage in both the front and back of the opponent's ranks. I have two Sneak monsters while the rest do damage to the front. Usually, 2 Sneak monsters are enough to do the strategy. You can make this faster by adding more but I don't have monsters with good damage that I could add so I sticked with those that have decent magic damage or better overall stats. With my opponent using mostly Foundation monsters, I have a high advantage in quality of the monsters making this a one-sided match.

Bera Dallin is a strong tank for the Life element. Taunt makes all damage focus on her. Shield and Void Armor reduce and control incoming damage. Armored Strike gives her small bonus offense. With proper supports like Tank Heal and Repair on your other monsters, she becomes very hard to kill. In my opinion, Bera Dallin is still one of the best tanks in the game especially since Life element still has a lot of monsters with good supporting abilities that you can use and experiment.
