Grimbardun Fighter, The All-Rounder Tank

In this battle, I wanted a tank that can survive many types of damage. Some tanks are strong against melee and range but weak to magic. Others have big health but no real protection. Grimbardun Fighter felt like a balanced option because he can do everything I needed and more.

With 9 mana cost, he is not cheap. If I choose him for the battle, I expect that mana well spent. He has good armor, strong health and good melee damage as well. That already makes him a threat and not just there to become a wall. There are times you want a tank that can just protect your team like Ulundin Overseer but there are times you also want that 1st position unit to deal damage along with the rest of your team.

Stats

Grimbardun Fighter is a true tank that can also deal good damage. With 9 health and 3 armor, he can absorb many hits before going down. The 4 melee damage is strong for a tank, so he can be dangerous to the enemy lineup every round. Shield, Corrosive Ward and Deflect give him protection in different ways. He excels at fighting melee and range teams because he halves their damage and removes armor from melee attackers. Grimbardun Fighter works very well with Tank Heal or Repair because keeping him alive longer increases his total value. Overall, Grimbardun Fighter is a really good tank for any lineup and that works more because he is a Neutral element and you can use Grimbardun Fighter with other elements.

Shield is very strong on tanks. It reduces damage from melee and ranged attacks by half. This makes his 3 armor and 9 health look more than they were. If all opponents have melee and range attacks, this ability basically doubles your health and armor since all of their attacks are halved. Shield works best when combined with Tank Heal or Repair because reduced damage means healing becomes more effective.

Corrosive Ward permanently removes armor from melee attackers that hit him. This is very strong against teams that rely on Repair to keep armor up. Once the armor is gone, it does not come back. That makes enemy tanks weaker over time. It is especially good in long battles where your opponents rely on armor to protect their team.

Deflect negates indirect damage like Thorns, Blast, and even Corrosive Ward from the opponent. This protects Grimbardun Fighter from extra unwanted damage keeping his health and armor up. The longer the battle, the more you would take damage from these abilities. With Deflect, he avoids that problem. This makes him safer when attacking into opponent's monsters with Thorns or in modifiers like Briar Patch.

Battle

This is a simple battle. I had multiple tanks in the front and back while also attacking the opponent's front and back attacks simultaneously. Grimbardun Fighter and Pixie-Knife Hurler tanks the front line with Shield. Pixie-Knife Hurler is an Ulund so Bella Ratajowlski gives her Shield as well so I have two Shield monsters in the front. I don't have a better low mana Ulund so I cannot add another one at the back. I'm glad the opponents don't have Sneak monsters and the opponents have melee and range monsters attacking the front so the two Shield tanks on the front and Tank Heal is enough to keep my team from breaking.

Grimbardun Fighter is a strong and reliable frontline tank. He has good health, nice amount of armor and strong melee damage. Shield reduces incoming damage, Corrosive Ward weakens melee attackers and Deflect blocks indirect damage. These abilities give him protection in many situations. If you need a tank that can survive and still hit hard, Grimbardun Fighter is a good choice.
