Intro Banner 2024

Stonebind Matron is a Common monster that looks simple at first but actually have strong potential. She costs 8 mana which is high for the stats so you must build your team carefully around her. With 3 magic damage and 6 speed at max level, she is clearly made to attack fast and target weak enemies. Even without armor, she can still pressure the enemy team early.

Her 8 health is decent for a backline magic attacker but she is not a frontline unit and this doesn't happen until on later stages. Opportunity lets her hunt weak targets, and Triage lets her heal allies in the back. Because of this, she is not just there for the damage. Stonebind Matron can also support the team in longer battles.

Stats

Stonebind Matron
Stonebind Matron is mainly a fast magic damage dealer with some support ability. With 3 magic damage and Opportunity, she can kill weak monsters very quickly. Since magic bypass armor, her attacks are hard to deal with unless enemy have Void or Taunt. Her 6 speed makes her very hard to hit and also lets her attack first most of the time. Triage gives her more value because she heals the most damaged backline ally each round. This makes her good in long battles if you combo him with Taunt monster. She works very well with Taunt monsters placed in the backline because she can heal them while still attacking. She also pairs good with Protect or Strengthen units to make her survive longer. She excels at picking off low health enemies and keeping backline alive at the same time.

Abilities

Opportunity
Image from Splinterlands

Opportunity lets her target the enemy with the lowest health. This is very strong with magic damage because it ignores armor. If enemy use low health monsters, she can kill them very fast. High speed plus Opportunity is a scary combo. The only counter is high health monsters or Taunt monsters protecting weaker monsters. If you would use this strategy, make sure to add another monster with Opportunity since Stonebind Matron's magic damage is not very high.

Triage

Triage heals the most damaged backline monster every round. This is very good in battles where Sneak and Opportunity are common. If you have a Taunt monster placed in 2nd to the 6th position, Triage will keep healing it. This creates strong strategy for your team. It also works well with monsters that have high health but no self heal.

Battle

Battle

Since my opponent is using a full Foundation lineup, my monsters have better damage and stats overall. One lucky break my opponent have is that I forgot to add Sheng Xiao's abilities. So it's like I have an archon that doesn't have any ability in this battle. There is a huge gap between the quality of monsters though so even if I wasn't able to apply Sheng Xiao's abilities on my monsters, I am still far ahead in the battle. My lineup won without a hitch and Stonebind Matron's Opportunity helped in prioritizing Sorrow Harvester to get back the lost health my team got from Weaken.

Author's Notes

Stonebind Matron is a fast magic attacker with some support value. Opportunity helps her remove weak enemies fast. Triage keeps backline allies alive in long fights. Poison Burst gives her a dangerous final effect when she dies. She needs good team support but can be very strong when used right. She is not common in battles due to the lower health but she has strong potential in the right setup.

Stonebind Matron is not a monster I usually see often in battles. Many players maybe choose other Opportunity monsters because they can do the same but better stats especially on lower levels. However, the 6 speed is very high and going first in battle is very important especially with Opportunity. When she attacks first and kills a weak enemy, it can reduce the damage your opponents can do to your team.
