Introduction

Zyrx the Emberglace is a powerhouse hyper carry monster that brings both safety and risk in battle. With the rare ability to strike using both magic and melee in a single round, it can be pretty hard to counter. Its presence alone changes how players plan their lineup, since few monsters can handle the amount of damage Zyrx the Emberglace can do.

While most monsters rely on either raw strength or unique abilities, Zyrx the Emberglace blends both into one deadly form. It has high armor, strong health, and good synergizing abilities making it tough to bring down. The good synergy with other archons and monsters are also a big plus since Dragon element is a flexible element that can be combined with any element to achieve what you planned.

Monster Stats Banner 2024
Edited in Canva Pro.

Zyrx the Emberglace’s best stats are its dual attack types, the 2 magic and 5 melee. This lets it attack twice per round, dealing heavy mixed makes Zyrx the Emberglace extremely hard to counter and useful in almost any lineup. The high damage is also very useful in taking opponents down quick and can be really useful when adding effects to its attacks such as Blast ability.

Charge is the best ability because it gives Zyrx the Emberglace the flexibility in positioning. It doesn’t need to stay in the front line to deal heavy damage and use its 5 melee attack. It can be on the back as a second tank or keep him very safe in the middle to maximize the damage it can provide until the end. This lets you adapt to different team lineup without forcing Zyrx the Emberglace as the main tank making him last longer in battle.

Pros

  1. Mixed Damage Having two types of damage means it's hard to counter. Even if your opponents stack Demoralize or Silence, Zyrx the Emberglace will not be as affected as others. If opponents also have a Shield or Void but not both, at least one attack of Zyrx the Emberglace will get past the opponent's defenses.
  2. High Armor and Health. High stats means it will not die from a few attacks. The longer he lives, the longer he can deal damage which also means he can be useful for longer. The high armore and health can also mean that he can act as a tank when needed.
  3. Complementing abilities Some of Zyrx the Emberglace's abilities complements very well. Execute assures that the last hit will be with Zyrx Emberglace which would trigger the Bloodlust as well. With the good set of abilities, he also have good complementing abilities with others and depending your strategy, Zyrx the Emberglace can adapt.

Cons

  1. High Mana
With a mana cost of 10, Zyrx the Emberglace is hard to be played in unless the battle have high mana cap. Using him in 20 or 30 mana means a huge loss in the numbers game. There are battles where more monsters are better and there are games where quality is the winning factor. Zyrx the Emberglace is a problem on the former and may lead your lineup to problems during certain battles.
  2. Incendiary Debilitation
With debilitations that damage your team, it would feel like you're in a ticking time bomb. With this ability, you need to strike fast and hard. The longer the battle drags on, the higher the chance you would lose. While Zyrx the Emberglace can withstand a few damage from Incendiary, the rest of the team would not be as durable and can result to losses.
  3. No Defensive abilities.
Even though Zyrx the Emberglace have high armor and health on high levels, it doesn't compare to others that have Void, Shield or Void Armor. A high health and armor can still be countered by high damage and with Conclave Arcana, units with high damage isn't really hard to find. This is why that despite his good stats, I really don't see him as being a good tank.

Explosive Weaponry
All monsters on the board gains the Blast ability that inflicts half the damage to the monsters beside the target: Two attacks mean two blasts per round which doubles its damage. Zyrx the Emberglace’s dual attack type makes it one of the best monsters to take advantage of this modifier. It can deal huge damage not only to his targets but also those beside it.
2.png
equal-opportunity.jpg
Equal Opportunity
All monsters on the board gains the Opportunity ability that changes the targetting mechanics to "Opponent's Monster with the least health.": Bloodlust works great with Opportunity abilities since it targets weak monsters first. Every kill instantly makes Zyrx the Emberglace stronger and harder to stop. When this monster gains stats from Bloodlust, both of the melee and magic attack increases which means he gets 2 damage altogether, one for each attack, making him more deadly on his next attack.
3.png
melee-mayhem.jpg
Melee Mayhem
All melee monsters on the board can attack from any position targetting the opponent's monster on the 1st position: This rule lets Zyrx use its melee attack from any position. Combined with its magic attack it can deal full damage even when placed away from the front. This makes it flexible and safe from being eliminated early. This also works really good if you want to focus on his Bloodlust. The longer he stays alive, the more enemies he can kill.

Weak Magic
Monsters on the board can use their armor to block an opponent's magic damage. This has the same effect as Void Armor:
This reduces the effect of its magic attack since armor now blocks the hit from magic attack. Half of its damage becomes less useful and it loses part of its power. It may not be much but a hit that can kill the enemy when bypassing armor now means harder to achieve.
2.png
reverse-speed.jpg
Reverse Speed
The effects of speed becomes the opposite. Monsters with the least Speed also attack first and has highest chance to evade an attack:
Its high 4 speed becomes a disadvantage since it attacks last instead of first. It will often miss melee attacks as well making that huge 5 melee damage useless. This lowers its overall damage output and Bloodlust chance of stacking.

Collateral Damage
All monsters have Reckless that deals 1 damage to monsters beside it every attack.:
Two attacks mean two blasts per round which doubles its damage. Zyrx the Emberglace’s dual attack type makes it one of the best monsters to take advantage of this modifier. It can deal huge damage not only to his targets but also those beside it.

Ulundin Overseer
Ulundin Overseer works really well with Zyrx the Emberglace because of the Flank ability that lets Zyrx the Emberglace attack from the 2nd position. This makes sure Zyrx can stay protected while still dealing his heavy melee damage every round. It also helps spread the damage across two units instead of focusing everything on Zyrx the Emberglace. Imagine giving a mount to Zyrx the Emberglace that they need to kill first before they opponents attack Zyrx the Emberglace. That mount is called Ulundin Overseer.
2.png

Janni Rebel
Janni Rebel is a strong partner for Zyrx because of the Inspire ability that increases melee damage. This bonus helps Zyrx the Emberglace’s melee attack hit even harder. Higher damage also helps land the last hit for Bloodlust in the higher level giving Zyrx the Emberglace better chance to stack Bloodlust. The extra power can quickly break through enemy tanks and cause additional damage behind them because of Nidhoggr's Blast.
3.png

Anash Soothsayer
Anash Soothsayer supports Zyrx the Emberglace through Tank Heal if you decide to use him as your main tank. This keeps him alive longer during long battles. This healing works perfectly as well with Ulundin Overseer which is what I usually partner with Zyrx the Emberglace.

This battle have Target Practice modifier giving everyone Snipe ability which is both strong and dangerous for me and my opponent. I don't like changes in the attack priorities as it messses up my plan usually so I countered this modifier by having a monster with Taunt. This way, opponent's range and magic attack gets redirected to this monster with Taunt while I can freely use the modifier on my own free will. This helped me speed up the death of the opponent's monsters especially when Nidhoggr's Blast given to multiple monsters allowed them to hit 3 opponent's monsters at a time.

Lineup

Nidhoggr

This archon have multiple abilities that can be used depending on the situation thanks to Summoner Tactics step. This allows you to strategize which monsters will receive the abilities after you've seen the opponent's lineup giving you huge advantage with the information you just gained.

Ulundin Overseer

I added this monster because when I was using Zyrx the Emberglace, he died very fast from the enemy magic attacks. Having a wall that has Flank helps Zyrx the Emberglace survive the initial brute attacks while being able to use his attacks on the 2nd position.

Zyrx the Emberglace

The higher level of this monster is much more overpowered but even just a level 1 is still overpowered if you know how to use him. The dual attack plus Blast is very strong to eliminate the enemy tank along with whoever is behind him.

Night Reaper

This is a dragon monster that prioritizes other Flying monsters. The Wingbreak not only makes sure his attacks hit but also adds another point of damage. This is strong when Blast is added as he can hit 3 monsters at a time depending on where the opponent's monster with Flying is positioned.

Helheim Demon

I want a Taunt monster so I added Helheim Demon. Other Taunt monster can also work. The Taunt is to protect not Zyrx the Emberglace but the next monster, Arachne Weaver, which is the source of healing for this team. Another reason is the Target Practice modifier which may target my backline so a monster with Taunt is very necessary in this battle.

Arachne Weaver

Corrupted Healing is very strong because it doesn't heal one monster but all of my monsters, except for Arachne Weaver, at the same time. This is bad over long battles though because each Corrupted Healing reduces that monster's max health by 1. I never intended these games to be long and drag it out though so Arachne Weaver fits very well in this build and strategy.

With Nidhoggr, you will be always down a monster in your lineup because of Force Reduction debilitation. The positive though outweighs the demerits as 3 of your monsters get Blast and Deathblow while the opponents gets reduced armor and max health. Adding the Blast and Deathblow to Zyrx the Emberglace is good as its two attack means this one monster alone can use two blast, one for each attack. So, even with less monsters on the board, my monsters have higher quality. They have better stats and stronger overall and because of Nidhoggr, they also have better abilities. The only problem with this lineup is Zyrx the Emberglace's Incendiary debilitation. This is like a spreading poison dealing 2 damage to your monster's health each round. So, regardless of how strong your monsters are, if the battle goes too long, you are sure to lose. Using Zyrx the Emberglace is a double-edged sword but that sharp sword is very deadly when you know where and how to use it.

Author's Note Banner.gif

This battle showed how stats and synergy can work together when used the right way. Zyrx the Emberglace was the key damage dealer breaking through the enemy’s defenses with pure destruction. The whole plan was about keeping the offense strong, fast and deadly before the fire from Incendiary debilitation spreads and kills my team.

Everything came together well and showed the strength of this kind of risky lineup. It’s a good reminder that sometimes, building around one strong attacker can create a winning formula when the rest of the team supports it properly.
