Your One Monster Solution: Abyssal Elemental

Sometimes you do not need a full team of perfect cards to win a battle. All you really need is one monster that can become whatever you need regardless of the situation and still do its job well. That is where Abyssal Elemental shines the most.
Abyssal Elemental is a unique flexible monster that solves many of my problems in different battles. He can stand in as a tank, deal damage from the middle or protect the back from Sneak when needed. This article shows and highlights how one monster can hold your whole plan together and why you should be using this one monster in all of your battles.

Your Team’s Core Structure:
I always do a sandwich method for my team. Tank in the 1st and 2nd position, damage dealers in 3rd, 4th and 5th position, and then another tank for the 6th.
Of course, this lineup changes depending on the number of monsters but it's always in the tank-damage-tank format. Abyssal Elemental is very good with this because he can be a tank or damage dealer depending on the modifier and situation overall.
The reason why you have a tank by the end of your lineup is because you don't know when an opponent will use some Sneak strategies.

Why This Team Works in Specific Rulesets?
This idea works best with Abyssal Elemental because Abyssal Elemental is very flexible. It can be a tank or a damage dealer depending on the modifier. The flexibility in positioning also applies because of his damage type, which is magic. This damage type allows monsters to attack from any position.

Weak Magic - Thick Skinned - Armored Up - Target Practice
In modifiers that makes him tankier, like Weak Magic, Thick Skinned or Armored Up modifiers, I put him on 1st position. You can also put him on 2nd position to block units in Target Practice Modifier.

Blood Moon - Explosive Weaponry
In modifiers that increases Abyssal Elemental's damage potential, I put him in the middle. These are modifiers like Blood Moon and Explosive Weaponry modifiers.

Super Sneak
Lastly, I put him as a back tank on the 6th position in Super Sneak modifier. In this modifier, melee monsters have Sneak so it's to block those pesky strategies.
These are just specific modifiers where I specialize him on. On other modifiers not mentioned, Abyssal Elemental's positioning is based on the lineup for that battle. If I need a tank, he goes to front and if I need more of a safe damage dealer, he goes somewhere in the middle.

Key Synergies & Power Plays
1. Abyssal Elemental as Tank
At first look, Abyssal Elemental looks weak as a tank because he only has 5 armor and 2 health. However, his Resurgence ability brings him back to life once per battle with full health and armor after he falls which lets him soak damage twice in one battle. This makes him surprisingly useful for buying time and very mana efficient if you're having trouble needing a solid frontline.
2. Captain Fellblade + Saltwater Mage Combo
This one is something I think you are very familiar with. It's a common combo which is to stack Sneaks but with a special spice because
Captain Fellblade and Saltwater Mage work very well together because both use Sneak with magic damage. This lets them hit the opponents starting at the back and at the same time, quickly removing important monsters. When used together, they put heavy pressure on the opponents throughout the game without worrying about the opponent's strong tanks.

Show & Tell: Battle Link
In this battle, the mana cost is on the middle end but I don't have a lot of units because of the high mana cost the units needed recently. I have two tanks, Halfling Refugee as a filler and Abyssal Elemental as a second tank. Saltwater Mage and Captain Fellblade acts as my damage dealer attacking the rear with Sneaks and Torrent Sniper attacks the middle of their team with Snipe while also acting as a defense against potential Sneaks. The modifier of this battle does not affect the main battle since you just need to avoid using Taunt monsters. I don't use any Taunt with Water Element since I don't think it's needed so this doesn't really affect me.
The battle went with their tank surviving until the end. They have a better tank since mine is just substitutes. However, I have stronger firepower and with the three units bypassing the enemy tank, their damage dealers fall very early which allowed me to get huge advantage over the opponent.
