A Quiet Scavenger That Grows Over Time

Dragon Egg Forager is one of those units that does not look impressive at first glance. When I first checked the stats, I almost skipped past it. No armor, average speed, and nothing flashy right away. But after using it more, especially in certain rule sets, it started to make sense. This unit is not about early pressure. It is about staying alive and getting stronger as the fight goes on.

Lore

There are many uses for dragon eggs: they are a source of dragon magic; the shell can be woven into clothing and armor to enhance its protective properties; if one has a complete disregard for their safety, they might hatch the egg and attempt to tame the hatchling; they also make for a delectable omelet.
Subsequently, dragon-egg foraging is an incredibly lucrative business. It’s also incredibly dangerous, so if you decide to try your hand at it, best make sure your last will and testament is up-to-date.

Stats
At level 3, Dragon Egg Forager costs 5 mana and comes with 2 melee attack, 3 speed, and 6 health. There is no armor, so it does not like taking hits early. The stats feel balanced, but nothing stands out on its own.
At max level, the cost stays the same at 5 mana, but the attack jumps to 5 melee attack. Speed goes up to 4, and health increases slightly to 7. The growth in attack is the main thing here. For a unit that does not start in the front, that attack can become very dangerous later in the match.

Why Opportunity is Good with Dragon Egg Scavenger
Opportunity is what defines how Dragon Egg Forager behaves in battle. Instead of attacking the front unit, it targets the enemy with the lowest health. This means it often attacks from the backline, even without Sneak.
This is important because it keeps Dragon Egg Forager safer early on. While other melee units are forced into danger, this one can stay behind tanks and still deal damage. It also helps finish off weak units, which matters a lot once Scavenger comes into play.

Let's Talk About Scavenger
Scavenger is the ability that makes Dragon Egg Forager scale during battle. Every time any unit dies, Dragon Egg Forager gains extra health. This includes enemy units and friendly units.
In longer fights, this adds up fast. What starts as 6 or 7 health can turn into a much larger pool. As the health grows, Dragon Egg Forager becomes harder to remove, especially if it is still protected by frontline units.
This ability rewards slow, grinding matches where units drop one by one instead of quick burst fights.

Modifiers with Good Synergy with Dragon Egg Scavenger

Born Again
Born Again rule set is one of the best situations for Dragon Egg Forager. Since every unit revives once, there are more total deaths in the match. Every extra death means more Scavenger stacks.
This turns Dragon Egg Forager into a snowball unit. It may start small, but by the middle or late part of the fight, it often ends up with high health and strong attack. If it survives long enough, it can clean up what is left on the enemy side.

Noxious Fumes
Noxious Fumes is another rule set where Dragon Egg Forager shines. Poison causes units to die faster, which again feeds Scavenger.
Even though poison hurts everyone, Dragon Egg Forager benefits from the chaos. As units drop each round, its health keeps increasing. If it avoids poison damage for long enough, it becomes one of the last units standing.
This works especially well when both teams are losing units at a steady pace.

Up Close and Personal
Up Close & Personal allows only melee units. On paper, this sounds risky for Dragon Egg Forager, but it actually works in its favor.
Because of Opportunity, it can still attack from the backline while other melee units are forced forward. This gives it a safer position than many opponents. While front units trade blows, Dragon Egg Forager picks off weak targets and builds health.
In this rule set, that positioning advantage matters more than raw defense.

Final Thoughts
Dragon Egg Forager is a unit that rewards patience. It is not about winning fast. It is about letting the match play out and growing stronger as units fall.
In the right rule sets like Born Again, Noxious Fumes, and Up Close & Personal, it can quietly become a late-game threat. If you like units that scale over time and punish long fights, Dragon Egg Forager is worth a closer look.
