Today marks six years of adventure, strategy, and joy in our beloved game, Splinterlands. This milestone is a testament to the passion and dedication of the devs and the community whose support has been the cornerstone of Splinterlands success.
Let's look ahead with excitement with each passing year. Splinterlands evolves and grows with new cards, rule sets and gameplay each year which the community would certainly enjoy.
Congrats to the devs for putting six years on Splinterlands developing the game for players to continuously enjoy. Cheers to our amazing community and the bright future that lies ahead!
Discovery of Splinterlands
I recall discovering Splinterlands while looking at videos on YouTube during my initial interest during the Axie Infinity craze. Axie Infinity had gained significant popularity in our country, sparking my curiosity. As I do my research, I realized that starting my journey in Axie Infinity will be too expensive at that time completely dropping off the idea.
This prompted me to seek out low-budget NFT games that offered actual gameplay rather than mere collectibles. I wanted a game that will provide me an engaging experience without being too expensive, minimizing potential losses in case of disappointment. My initial investment in Splinterlands was a mere $10. I found out that you can get upvotes in Hive with Splinterlands content. I attempted to earn an upvote from Splinterlands by creating a post, which at first, failed. As a result, I decided to give the game a chance for only a month. Despite not being particularly profitable, I eventually lost interest and stopped playing altogether. However, after some time had passed, I found myself drawn back to the game and decided to give it another try. I played for a while and even posted about my experience on Hive. To my surprise, I received an upvote and used the rewards to purchase more cards within the game. This cycle of gameplay and posting proved my stay enjoyable and I have continued to do it with Splinterlands ever since. |
Duration of Participation
I am not sure how long it was from the first time I played. I think it was a year ago so it would be 15 months ever since. Despite being in a year in the game, I still see myself as a novice since I play casually. There's a vast amount of new things I don't know in this game, and at present, I've continued to explore the conplicated world of Wild Format within Splinterlands. I like the flexibility of just using everything the game can offer, which can be complicated while being fun at the same time due to the freedom it can provide. |
Time Spent in Splinterlands
I don't have a fixed schedule for playing. Whether it's daily or weekly, I simply log in whenever I have the time to spare after doing my other responsibilities. I am an only child so houseworks and schoolworks take a lot of my time. Balancing my studies and daily work commitments makes it challenging to dedicate significant time to Splinterlands. I do my best to allocate a few hours each day whenever possible. I play at least 15 games a day throughout the day to make sure I get that sweet glint each day. |
Accomplishments
Right now, I don't have many stripes on my name like the other players especially since I only play Splinterlands casually. I'm not actually playing it competitively, trying to outdone other players. I only play it once a day whenever I am available.
Despite saying that, the only accomplishment I have is reaching Champion league. It's not that impressive though since I don't think it's hard to reach that in Wild Format due to how many bots are in that league. It's still a feat reaching the top especially when you can see real players of old times. I fell out now because I don't have time to focus on it but will try to get back to Champion League from time to time. I doubt I would get the top 20 though since fighting a Golden level 4 Yodin Zaku scarred my heart so bad, I might want to surrender as soon as I see that. |
Upcoming Goals
I know that I may not possess the same skill level as the other players. My future goals revolves around completing my card collection. My approach to Splinterlands is the same as to Pokémon where the objective is to collect all available cards, play casually and enjoy the game.
My primary focus remains on steadily expanding my collection and enjoy its slow growth over time. |
Advice for Beginners
For newcomers, my advice is simple: just enjoy the game. Whether your goal is to be in the leaderboards of Splinterlands or prefer a more relaxed approach like mine, fun is key. It would be a long struggling battle and the time you stopped enjoying the game, is the time you would quit it just like what happened to me at the start.
Bear in mind, every journey begins at square one. Whether it's cooking or gaming, it requires for you to start from the basics. Embrace the game, learn from your experiences, and use them to enhance your skills. The greater your improvement, the more you will enjoy this game in the long term. |
Final Thoughts
Splinterlands presents a significant challenge especially for novices. I recall struggling for at the start when I was novice and low bronze levels before finding my footing. Unlike many games, Splinterlands lacks a tutorial for beginners when I started. Upon acquiring your spellbook, you'll be thrown into the battle to fend for yourself without any guides. Without patience, it's easy to become discouraged, as I did.
Now, I believe that they are working on that. I am not sure how it went because I don't have any other accounts to check. It's still better than before though going in the game completely blind.
With the recent changes in the game, I am expecting more changes in the future along with more fun engagements and development in the game.
