Card Highlights #10: Daarg Deadblast
Card Highlights #10: Daarg Deadblast
────────────◈◉◈────────────
" It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends. "
- Albus Dumbledore
────────────◈◉◈────────────
This is an upgraded version of the Moxian Rebel combo for Earth. Since you are allowed to use more and better cards in Wild Format, this one is undoubtedly the best one.
Not only it gives you more firepower but it also gives one of the best unit the best damage in the game, the Furious Chicken.
Lore
Daarg Deadblast fought his way up the ranks of the Drybone Anarchists to become the chief advisor to their Sultan, Eternan Brune. His cunning, relentlessness, and predatory instincts make him both highly valued and highly suspect by even the Sultan himself.
Under the governance of the Chaos Empire, Daarg finds both opportunities and risks, and he subtly navigates them to further his own ambitions.

Buy and Rental Costs
Daarg Deadblast is currently sold for $19.02 for a level 1. This is too expensive for me so I would be renting it from time to time instead. |
Renting Daarg Deadblast isn't cheap either. You can rent one for 26.50 DEC per day for level 1 and 80.24 DEC per day for level 2. |
Card Stats
Daarg Deadblast has 2 magic damage initially, increased to 3 at level 4. The increase in damage is very important as it also increases the damage of Weapons Training. |
Card Effects
Weapons Training |
This is Daarg Deadblast's strongest ability. It gives two other units 2 magic damage giving you 4 damage in total that can be increased by Alric Stormbringer.
Swiftness |
While this ability is not as strong, it makes sure that you can attack earlier. You may eliminate an opponent or two early giving you an advantage.
Triage |
This can actually be quite useful. You can change one of your extra units with Wave Brood placed at the back. This would split the damage and Daarg Deadblast's Triage will work amazingly, even protecting the trained little ones like Furious Chicken or Chaos Agent against damage.
Dodge |
Dodge makes Daarg Deadblast a good secondary tank placed after Baakjira. He'll give Baakjira magic damage through Weapons Training while being able to deflect some of the damage through opponent's missing.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Daarg Deadblast's strength comes from his Weapons Training ability. This gives you a lot of magic damage for so little mana. With his compatibility with Alric Stormbringer, this damage is increased furthermore just like what you do with Moxian Rebel and Obsidian. |
Stats and abilitiies, I cannot find any weakness. The only weakness I can find is the pricing. Since Daarg Deadblast is a Legendary unit from the newest set, he is VERY expensive right now. Those who were able to pull it are so lucky and I think they should hold on it. It's very good in Wild Format and I think it would also be good in Modern Format especially when you combo it with Baakjira |
When To Use
Armored Up |
Armored Up is good since not only it protects your units with low health but it also doesn't affect your attacks since magic damage passes through armor.
Aimless |
Protect ability and adding armor is the normal way to protect your team. With Aimless, your team gains scattershot giving you magic damage the chance to attack others randomly intead.
Equalizer |
Daarg Deadblast with Alric Stormbringer gives a lot of firepower. It also fixes the fact that your Weapons Training and trained units also have lower health like Chaos Agent and Furious Chicken.
When Not To Use
Wands Out |
This rule set is bad for Daarg Deadblast since you are not allowed to use any units without attack completely nullifying your Weapons Training ability.
Counterspell |
Since Daarg Deadblast also gives magic damage, this is a bad rule set for everyone.
Back to Basics |
Daarg Deadblast's main strength comes from Weapons Training that he gives to others. Disablin this ability makes him a normal mage and with 7 mana, that is a bad stat.

Even though I was countered with Thaddius Brood, I still had an easy win in this game. The combination of Daarg Deadblast's Swiftness and Baakjira's Slow made the playing field even in terms of speed. My monsters was even able to attack first despite my opponent having all 3 speed.
I was so excited about Furious Chicken but unfortunately, my opponent have an Opportunity ability. So, my Furious Chicken died first.
Alric Stormbringer really pumps this build up, able to counter Thaddius Brood's negative magic damage.
Final Thoughts
Daarg Deadblast is very strong with Alric Stormbringer. It's probably even stronger if my opponent doesn't have Thaddius Brood.
I had a bunch of easy wins with this build and the best part is that it's not even mana hungry. Due to Furious Chicken's 0 mana, you can build this in very low mana cost as well.
If you use Chaos Agent and Furious Chicken as the trained units, you only need 8 mana for Daarg Deadblast's Weapons Training for a total of 6 damage. If that's not what you call efficient, I don't know what else.
