Splinterlands Art Contest || Lunakari Mistress

Hello hive friends. Happy new week and welcome to my blog again, hope you had an amazing weekend and your day is also going very well. My day was great, stressful and busy but I'm doing just fine. This is my entry for the splinterlands art contest and for this week I chose a very beautiful card...

I usually make my submission post around the middle of the week but my week is going to be a busy one so I decided to check this off my list. The Lunakari Mistress is a very beautiful character, her attitude, her dress, pose and everything looks nice...

The existence of the Lunakari has been a secret to the Splinterlands until very recently, when a small group of these women descended. They stride about the lands of Khymeria like they own the place, claiming to anyone who protests that they are the true and rightful heirs to the Angels’ land.

PROCESS

Unlike my last submission, I chose to do a simple pose for this week. The sketch phase was quite easy and fast but I still made little mistakes, this simple sketch guided me as I created the rest of the work. I chose a colour pallete and went ahead to paint flat colours for her skin, hair, clothes and jewellery. I painted her facial features, drew her brows, nose and lips but I wanted her eyes to look different without eyesballs so I spent some time on it and then drew her lashes....

I discovered something new when it comes to rendering skin, I used the lasso tool and I noticed that my work didn't look blurry. The best part of creating consistently is learning new tools and trying out new techniques. I added shadows and highlights to the necessary areas of her skin and I really love how it looks..
For her clothes, I added little lines to indicate a sense of style (like a wrap) to it and then painted other shadows and folds. I also painted brighter yellow shades to her jewellery then it was time to add details to her hair. I enjoyed this step, I also used the lasso tool here and it saved me some time and gave me the effects I wanted, I painted more shadows, brighter highlights and little strands for more details.
Finally I added a bit of glow to different areas of her hair, skin, around her eyes, lashes and on her clothes. This made a lot of difference to the painting then I painted a simple background by using a fog brush and also made little lines around them. I hope you love this one...
