Modern Format and Little League: My Buying Choices: Focus on Dragon and Neutral Chaos Legion Cards
Since the anti-bots measures have been introduced in the ranked battles of the Modern Format(July 25, 2023):
- I have improved my game achievements because in the previous season I reached the Diamond I league after so many months of waiting.
- I have improved my game rewards.
I am also very happy that the two proposals made by @davemccoy were both approved successfully:
- Update Terms of Service To Prohibit Bot Use In Tourneys, & Brawls : Passed with 93% favorable votes
- Update Terms Of Service To Prohibit Use Of Battle Helpers in Modern Ranked, Tourneys, and Brawls: Passed with 69% favorable votes
I voted yes on both proposals.
In my opinion, the introduction of the anti-bots measures in the Modern Format practically proved that bots have no utility but only bring negative effects and the two latest approved proposals are a further step in the right direction which should always be to focus on the real players who enjoy playing on Splinterlands and enjoy taking their time to battle with other real players.
I have always considered Splinterlands' choice to tolerate bots to be highly counterproductive and have shared in detail my opinions and thoughts on bots in two of my previous posts which you will find at the following two links and which I will continue to share at every useful opportunity to make Splinterlands players sensitive to the problem of bots.

In my previous post I shared some of my purchase goals to increase the battle strength of my card collection, today I continue to share my purchase choices/upgrades but focusing today only on the Chaos Legion cards of the Dragon and Neutral elements that can be used in Modern Format battles that have the Little League ruleset.
When in a Splinterlands battle the rule is Little League only cards that have a cost in mana of 4 points or less can be used.
The Little League rule restricts the range of cards that can be used, and this restriction is even more pronounced in Modern Format ranked battles.
The Dragon and Neutral element cards that I have in my collection and use most when the battle rule is Little League are:
- **Uraeus **Level 6 (Max level).
- Spirit Hoarderlevel 4 (Max level)
- Dhampir Infiltrator level 8 (Max level)
- Vruz level 8
- Venator Kinjo level 2
- Naga Assassin level 6
To choose cards to buy and to choose the level to which to take them, I like to use PeakMonsters (https://peakmonsters.com/) because thanks to its many search filters I can speed up my task of choosing and evaluating my buying goals.
I generally open two browser pages where I view:
- the My Cards section of Peakmonsters.
- the Buy section of Peakmonsters.
On both pages I used the search filters:
- Format: MODERN
- Edition Sets: CHAOS
- Foil: REGULAR
- Element: Dragon, Neutral
The first card I decided to upgrade today is Naga Assassin: level 6 -> level 8 (max level).
Until I was playing most of the season in Gold leagues I didn't have a particular need to have max level Naga Assassin but from this season I started playing in Diamond III league and now having max level cards is very important.
Naga Assassin is a card that I consider cheap but useful in battle, and its usefulness is greatest in Low mana battles that have the Going To Distance ruleset, and battles with the Little League ruleset are particularly suited to Naga Assassin.
In my collection I have Naga Assassin level 6 (=60 BCX) + 2 BCX and to upgrade to the maximum level I have to buy 53 BCX and spend a total of $1,639 = $0.03090 per BCX
When the cost per BCX is relatively high I prefer to bid to get possible savings but when the cost per BCX and the total cost of the upgrade is relatively low I prefer to buy the BCX I need to upgrade immediately.
To purchase 53 BCXs I used the Market section of Monstermarket: https://monstermarket.io/
I spent 1919.64 DEC but also received a cashback of 46.07 DEC.
Now when I use top level Naga Assassin in my battles all my cards will gain an additional speed point thanks to the Swiftness ability!
Although Twilight Basilisk level 5 is a card I have rarely used in battle, I decided to upgrade it because in the transition from level 5 to level 8 it acquires +1 attack point, +1 armor point and +1 life point and could be useful to me in battles that have the Little League + Knock Out rulesets where the Stun ability acquires greater importance.
In my collection I have a total of 92 BCX and to upgrade to the maximum level I only need to buy 23 BCX and spend a total of $0.674 = $0.0127 per BCX
Again, I chose to purchase 23 BCX from Monstermarket right away.
I spent 798.76 DEC and received a cashback of 19.17 DEC.
The third card I decided to upgrade is Xenith Monk: level 6 -> level 8
It is a very useful card in battles that have rulesets Little League and Super Sneak or Melee Myeem.
In the transition from level 6 to level 8 it acquires +1 life point and the Magic Reflect ability which is very useful against cards that have a magic attack.
In my collection I have a total of 75 BCX and to upgrade to the maximum level I have to buy 40 BCX and spend a total of $15,029 = $0.376 per BCX
In this case the difference between High Bid and Low Buy for BCX is relatively large and that is why I chose bidding through the Make Bid feature of Peakmonsters as the method of purchase.
If my Bid will be accepted in the next days I will have saved $5.02
My fourth upgrade goal is Venari Spellsmith: level 6 -> level 8.
I have a total of 61 BCX in my collection, and to reach my upgrade goal, I need to purchase another 54 BCX.
In this case the difference between High Bid and Low Buy for BCX is relatively low ($0.100 vs $0.107) and therefore I decided to buy 54 BCX immediately.
To purchase 54 BCX I used the Market section of Monstermarket, spent 7430.39 DEC and received a cashback of 178,658 DEC.
Today I also decided to upgrade Venator Kinjo to the maximum level: level 2 -> level 4
The difference between High Bid and Low Buy is small which is why I chose to buy 8 BCX immediately.
I purchased 8 BCX from Monstermarket and spent $10.47 and received a cashback of 284+167 DEC.
The last goal I am sharing today is not an upgrade goal but it is a purchase goal because I do not have BCX in my collection and the card I would like to add to my collection is Doctor Blight of level 3.
Doctor Blight is one of the most useful cards when the ruleset is little League but it is also one of the monster cards that has a relatively high cost per BCX.
The current purchase cost per BCX of Doctor Blight is among the lowest recorded in the last 180 days as you can see from the chart below.

To immediately add level 3 Doctor Blight to my card collection I would have to spend $250.
In this case, I chose to make a buy offer: $30 for BCX.
If in the future my Bid will be accepted by some seller I will save $70 but most probably I will have to raise my purchase bid in the next few days if I want to reach this purchase goal.
I will stop here today with my purchase goals/upgrades but in the coming days I will continue to upgrade cards that have a cost in mana <= 4 by choosing from cards of all other elements but that will be the topic of my next post.

Io ho votato a favore in entrambe le proposte.
Secondo me l'introduzione delle misure anti-bots nel Modern Format ha dimostrato praticamente che i bots non hanno utilità ma portano solo effetti negativi e le due ultime proposte approvate sono un'ulteriore passo in avanti verso la giusta direzione che è quella di focalizzarsi sui giocatori reali che amano giocare su Splinterlands e si divertono a impiegare il loro tempo per battagliare con altri giocatori reali.
Ho sempre considerato altamente controproducente la scelta di Splinterlands di tollerare i bots e ho condiviso in dettaglio le mie opinioni e le mie considerazioni sui bots in due miei precedenti post che trovi ai due links seguenti e che continuerò a condividere in ogni occasione utile per sensibilizzare i giocatori di Splinterlands sull'argomento bots.

Nel mio precedente post ho condiviso alcuni miei obiettivi di acquisto per aumentare la forza in battaglia della mia collezione di carte, oggi continuo a condividere le mie scelte di acquisto/upgrades focalizzandomi solo sulle carte Chaos Legion degli elementi Dragone e Neutrale che possono essere utilizzate nelle battaglie del Modern Format che hanno la ruleset Little League.
Quando in una battaglia di Splinterlands la regola da rispettare è Little League possono essere utilizzate solo le carte che hanno un costo in mana uguale o inferiore a 4 punti.
La regola Little League restringe il ventaglio di carte utilizzabili e questa restrizione è ancora più marcata nelle battaglie classificate del Modern Format.
Le carte degli elementi Dragone e Neutrale che ho nella mia collezione e che utilizzo di più quando la regola di battaglia è Little League sono:
- **Uraeus **livello 6 (Max level)
- Spirit Hoarder livello 4 (Max level)
- Dhampir Infiltrator livello 8 (Max level)
- Vruz livello 8
- Venator Kinjo livello 2
- Naga Assassin livello 6
Per scegliere le carte da acquistare e per scegliere il livello a cui portarle mi piace utilizzare PeakMonsters (https://peakmonsters.com/) perchè grazie ai suoi tanti filtri di ricerca posso velocizzare la mia attività di scelta e di valutazione dei miei obiettivi di acquisto.
Generalmente apro due pagine del browser in cui visualizzo:
- la sezione My Cards di Peakmonsters
- la sezione Buy di Peakmonsters
In entrambe le pagine ho utilizzato i filtri di ricerca:
- Format: MODERN
- Edition Sets: CHAOS
- Foil: REGULAR
- Element: Dragon, Neutral
La prima carta che ho deciso di potenziare oggi è Naga Assassin: livello 6 -> livello 8 (max level)
Fino a quando giocavo la maggior parte del tempo della stagione nelle leghe Gold non avevo una particolare necessità di avere Naga Assassin di livello massimo ma a partire dalla stagione in corso ho iniziato a giocare nella lega Diamond III e adesso avere carte di massimo livello è molto importante.
Naga Assassin è una carta che considero economica ma utile in battaglia e la sua utilità è maggiore nelle Low mana battles che hanno la ruleset Going To Distance e le battaglie con la ruleset Little League sono particolarmente adatte a Naga Assassin.
Nella mia collezione ho Naga Assassin di livello 6 (=60 BCX) + 2 BCX e per fare l'upgrade al livello massimo devo acquistare 53 BCX e spendere in totale 1.639$ = 0.03090$ per BCX
Quando il costo per BCX è relativamente alto preferisco fare offerte di acquisto per ottenere un possibile risparmio ma quando il costo per BCE e il costo totale dell'upgrade è relativamente basso preferisco acquistare subito i BCX che mi servono per fare l'upgrade.
Per acquistare 53 BCX ho utilizzato la sezione Market di Monstermarket: https://monstermarket.io/
Ho speso 1919.64 DEC ma ho ricevuto anche un cashback di 46.07 DEC.
Adesso quando utilizzerò Naga Assassin di livello massimo nelle mie battaglie tutte le mie carte acquisiranno un aggiuntivo punto di velocità grazie all'abilità Swiftness!
La seconda carta che ho deciso di potenziare è Twilight Basilisk: livello 5 -> livello 8
Anche se Twilight Basilisk di livello 5 è una carta che ho usato raramente in battaglia ho deciso di potenziarla perchè nel passaggio dal livello 5 al livello 8 acquisisce +1 punto attacco, +1 punto armatura e +1 punto vita e mi potrebbe essere utile nelle battaglie che hanno le ruleset Little League + Knock Out dove l'abilità Stun acquisisce una maggiore importanza.
Nella mia collezione ho un totale di 92 BCX e per fare l'upgrade al livello massimo devo acquistare solo 23 BCX e spendere in totale 0.674$ = 0.0127$ per BCX

In questo caso la differenza tra High Bid e Low Buy per BCX è relativamente bassa (0.100$ vs 0.107$) e per questo motivo ho deciso di acquistare subito 54 BCX.

La differenza tra High Bid e Low Buy è piccola e per questo motivo ho scelto di acquistare immediatamente 8 BCX.
Ho acquistato 8 BCX da Monstermarket e ho speso 10.47$ e ho ricevuto un cashback di 284+167 DEC.
L'ultimo obiettivo che condivido oggi non è un obiettivo di upgrade ma è un obiettivo di acquisto perchè non ho BCX nella mia collezione e la carta che vorrei aggiungere alla mia collezione è Doctor Blight di livello 3.
Doctor Blight è una delle carte più utili quando la ruleset è little League ma è anche una delle carta mostro che ha un costo per BCX relativamente alto.
Il costo di acquisto attuale per BCX di Doctor Blight è tra i più bassi registrati negli ultimi 180 giorni come puoi vedere dal grafico seguente.

Per aggiungere immediatamente Doctor Blight di livello 3 alla mia collezione di carte dovrei spendere 250$.
In questo caso ho scelto di fare un'offerta di acquisto: 30$ per BCX.
Se in futuro la mia Bid sarà accettata da qualche venditore risparmierò 70$ ma con molta probabilità dovrò alzare la mia offerta di aquisto nei prossimi giorni se voglio raggiungere questo obiettivo di acquisto.
Oggi mi fermo qui con i miei obiettivi di acquisto/upgrades ma nei prossimi giorni continuerò a potenziare le carte che hanno un costo in mana <= 4 scegliendo tra le carte di tutti gli altri elementi ma questo sarà l'argomento del mio prossimo post.

The xenith monk is one of the most underrated card for playing low mana games. Even as low as level 2, it has that the ability to heal. One thing about bot removal is that it has stopped farming in modern. However, the competition is now tougher than before.

Those are some nice upgrades but Doctor Blight is still way too expensive. Over $50 per BCX just doesn't seem worth it that much.
Yes it is very expensive and that is why I will only buy it at max $30 for BCX through bids if possible although I will hardly reach my purchase goal

Interessante l'analisi di Doctor Blight. Grazie per questi post.. io li trovo utili per capire come poter mutare le mie strategie in Splinterlands.. che ormai possiamo giudicarle fallimentari. D'ora in avavnti non mi perderò più un tuo post su Splinterlands e vediamo se a Dicembre riuscirò a trovarmi in una buona posizione.. ad oggi fatico a rientrare nelle leghe Silver... eppure sono un giocatore di vecchia data.. vuol dire che devo migliorare parecchio.
Doctor Blight è un ottima carta ma solo al giusto prezzo secondo me e per questo ho fatto offerte Bid ;)
Per il resto la strategia è importante e le regole di battaglia e le abilità che sono state aggiunte con il tempo hanno modificato alcuni equilibri e importanza di alcune carte.
Focalizzarsi sulle migliori carte da usare in base alle regole di battaglia penso sia un buon punto da cui partire ;)
