On February 29, 2024 with the start of the next Splinterlands season will also begin the first step of the rework of the ranked system that will make many changes to the mechanisms of the current ranked system.

In the new Ranked System you will no longer be able to choose not to advance in subsequent leagues.
This means that exceeding a league entry threshold will always result in advancement in the league.

In the new Ranked System there will also be the removal of league leaderboards except the Champion league leaderbord and this change will remove any disincentive to advance in subsequent leagues.

In the new ranked system:

• every victory will produce a +20 point increase in rating.
• each defeat will produce a decrease of -20 rating points.

This change should eliminate the well-known bottleneck effect that makes advancing in leagues particularly frustrating and difficult especially during the last days of the season when players placed well in the leaderboards stop playing while those who want to advance in the next leagues often encounter players with fewer rating points = few points earned for wins and many points loses for defeats.

In the new ranked system, there will no longer be separate SPS rewards pools for each league but there will be only 2 SPS Reward Pools: one for the Wild Format and one for the Modern Format

The matchmaking will also undergo a change because it will no longer be based on leagues but on trying to match players with the closest possible rating.

The change that will have the biggest impact on game dynamics will be the removal of card level caps in ranked battles.

This means that in the new ranked system a player who has a maximum level summoner and maximum level monster cards will be able to use his cards at maximum level in all leagues.

For example, today, a player who has maximum level Chaos Dragon and plays in Bronze leagues can use Chaos Dragon with stats limited to level 1 while starting Feb. 29 he will be able to use level 4 Chaos Dragon in Bronze leagues as well.

This change will heavily change the game strategies and also the purchase goals of players playing in the Novice, Bronze, Silver and Gold leagues.

For example, my strategy of improving the battle strength of my card collection changed immediately after I read the news regarding the upcoming change of the Ranked System.

In fact, some cards that I had decided not to upgrade beyond the level that can be used in the Modern Format's Gold leagues have now become my target upgrades because I will be able to use them at the maximum level in all the leagues I will be playing in after February 29.

In particular, I have returned to buying cards of the Chaos Legion set that have a relatively low cost per BCX.

For example, today I purchased Chaos Agent of maximum level.

For this purchase I spent 11135.85 DEC = $10.5

I also purchased 25 BCX of Wave Brood to make the upgrade to the highest level.

At maximum level Wave Brood acquires the Return Fire ability that will be very useful to me especially in battles with the Going to distance ruleset.

I also purchased 175 BCX of Goblin Psychic to have maximum level Goblin Psychic at my disposal and the Dispel ability which is a very useful ability especially against cards that have the Bloodlust ability such as the fearsome Quora Towershead.

I also purchased 50 BCX of Soul Strangler to upgrade to the highest level where Soul Strangler acquires the Poison ability.

The removal of card level caps will particularly benefit players with top-level cards and should also produce the positive effect of incentivizing card upgrades that could lead to an increase in the value of cards on the market.

The removal of card level caps should benefit me in battles as well because in my Chaos Legion + Riftwatchers + Rebellion collection I have:

• 6 maximum level summoners
• 19 maximum level legendary cards
• 6 maximum level epic cards
• 8 top-level rare cards
• 17 top-level common cards

In fact I am currently playing in the Silver II league of the Modern Format and cannot use the maximum potential of most of my cards.

Starting February 29, I will be able to use all of these cards to their full playing stats even if I were to start next season in the Modern Format's Silver leagues, and as a result I should be able to advance through the leagues faster than I do now.

I like the changes to the ranked system announced by the Splinterlands team because they will produce a simplification of the game mechanics and I think it will especially benefit new players.

Obviously it will take some time to evaluate and see if the new ranked system will have positive effects but I really like these changes.

HIVE ON and Splinterlands ON!

In arrivo un nuovo Ranked System! Niente più limiti al livello delle carte e la mia strategia di acquisto delle carte cambia!

Il 29 febbraio 2024 con l'inizio della prossima stagione di Splinterlands inizierà anche il primo step del rework del ranked system che apporterà molti cambiamenti ai meccanismi del ranked system attuale.

Nel nuovo Ranked System non sarà più possibile scegliere di non avanzare nelle leghe successive.
Questo vuol dire che superare una soglia di ingresso di una lega comporterà sempre l'avanzamento nella lega.

Tra l'altro nel nuovo Ranked System ci sarà la rimozione delle leaderboards delle leghe eccetto la leaderbord della lega Champion e questo cambiamento eliminerà qualsiasi disincentivo ad avanzare nelle leghe successive.

Nel nuovo ranked system:

• ogni vittoria produrrà un incremento di +20 punti di rating
• ogni sconfitta produrrà un decremento di -20 punti di rating

Questo cambiamento dovrebbe eliminare il famoso effetto collo di bottiglia che rende particolarmente frustrante e difficile avanzare nelle leghe soprattutto durante gli ultimi giorni della stagione in cui i giocatori piazzati bene nelle leaderboards smettono di giocare mentre chi vuole avanzare nelle leghe successive si scontra spesso con giocatori con meno punti di rating = pochi punti guadagnabili per le vittorie e molti punti da perdere per le sconfitte.

Nel nuovo ranked system non ci saranno più SPS rewards pools separate per ogni lega ma ci saranno solo 2 SPS Reward Pools: una per il Wild Format e una per il Modern Format

Anche il matchmaking subirà un cambiamento perchè non si baserà più sulle leghe ma sul cercare di accoppiare i giocatori con il rating più vicino possibile.

Il cambiamento che avrà l'impatto maggiore sulle dinamiche di gioco sarà la rimozione del card level league caps nelle ranked battles.

Questo vuol dire che nel nuovo ranked system un giocatore che ha un evocatore di massimo livello e carte mostro di massimo livello potrà usare le sue carte al massimo livello in tutte le leghe.

Ad esempio, oggi, un giocatore che ha Chaos Dragon di livello massimo e gioca in Bronze league può usare Chaso Dragon con le statistiche limitate al livello 1 mentre a partire dal 29 febbraio potrà utilizzare Chaos Dragon di livello 4 anche nelle leghe Bronze.

Questa modifica cambierà pesantemente le strategie di gioco e anche gli obiettivi di acquisto dei giocatori che giocano nelle leghe Novice, Bronze, Silver e Gold.

Ad esempio la mia strategia di miglioramento della forza in battaglia della mia collezione di carte è cambiata immediatamente dopo che ho letto la notizia riguardante il prossimo cambio del Ranked System.

Infatti alcune carte che avevo deciso di non potenziare oltre il livello utilizzabile nelle leghe Gold del Modern Format adesso sono diventate dei miei obiettivi di upgrades perchè potrò utilizzarle al massimo livello in tutte le leghe in cui mi troverò a giocare dopo il 29 febbraio.

In particolare sono ritornato ad acquistare carte del set Chaos Legion che hanno un costo per BCX relativamente basso.

Ad esempio oggi ho acquistato Chaos Agent di livello massimo.

Per questo acquisto ho speso 11135.85 DEC = 10.5$

Ho acquistato anche 25 BCX di Wave Brood per fare l'upgrade al massimo livello.

Al massimo livello Wave Brood acquisisce l'abilità Return Fire che mi sarà molto utile soprattutto nelle battaglie con la ruleset Going to distance.

Ho acquistato anche 175 BCX di Goblin Psychic per avere a disposizione Goblin Psychic di massimo livello e l'abilità Dispel che è un'abilità molto utile soprattutto contro carte che hanno l'abilità Bloodlust come ad esempio la temibile Quora Towershead.

Ho acquistato anche 50 BCX di Soul Strangler per fare l'upgrade al massimo livello in cui Soul Strangler acquisisce l'abilità Poison.

La rimozione dei card level league caps avvantaggerà in particolare i giocatori che hanno carte di massimo livello e dovrebbe anche produrre l'effetto positivo di incentivare l'upgrade delle carte che potrebbe portare ad un aumento del valore delle carte sul mercato.

La rimozione dei card level league caps dovrebbe portare dei vantaggi nelle battaglie anche a me perchè nella mia collezione Chaos Legion + Riftwatchers + Rebellion ho:

• 6 evocatori di massimo livello
• 19 carte leggendarie di massimo livello
• 6 carte epiche di massimo livello
• 8 carte rare di massimo livello
• 17 carte comuni di massimo livello

Infatti in questo momento gioco nella lega Silver II del Modern Format e non posso sfruttare il potenziale massimo della maggior parte delle mie carte.

A partire dal 29 febbraio potrò usare tutte queste carte al massimo delle loro statitistiche di gioco anche se dovessi iniziare la prossima stagione nelle leghe Silver del Modern Format e di conseguenza dovrei riuscire ad avanzare nelle leghe più velocemente rispetto ad ora.

Mi piacciono le modifiche al ranked system pensate dal team di Splinterlands perchè produrranno una semplificazione dei meccanismi di gioco e penso che ne gioveranno soprattutto i nuovi giocatori.

Ovviamente ci vorrà del tempo per valutare e verificare se il nuovo ranked system avrà effetti positivi ma a me queste modifiche piacciono molto.
