What is your Splinterlands Strategy

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

Once in November we asked the Liotes community to give us ideas for future missions and we got some amazing answers. Today, we chose the suggestion by @dagger212 for the mission.

He asks about your Splinterlands Strategy but in a quite elaborate way. Here the whole question:

I'd be curious to know how many people here play Splinterlands and in what league. In conjunction with that, do people rent cards and how they go about it if they do. ( Do they only rent a couple splinters? Do they only rent a couple big cards? Etc.). Finally, what is their ultimate goal/destination with Splinterlands? Do they just want to use it for fun and a little income? Do they ultimately want to sell it out and buy something? Also, how long have people been playing and how long do they plan on sticking with it?

Of course you are free to answer as much as you want and the part that you want :-)

@dagger212 will receive 5 extra credits for being picked by us!

The Liotes Mission

By taking part in the Liotes missions, you can win credits that will help you to increase your score and your title in the Liotes Ranking.

People who submit an answer will get 3 credits for the Liotes ranking.

We are very grateful if you enter the challenge within 24 hours after the post is published. We will try to count entries up to 36 hours after publication.

I am not playing Splinterlands anymore 🤷‍♂️. Most decks are meta and anti-meta and anti-anti-meta deck. The latest strategy I ever played is playing with an anti-meta deck which is people seldom bring an anti-anti-meta deck to play.

I prefer to focus on my Rising Star. Level 111 + Rank 205th + PFC 797/1275. 😜

Sorry for that.

No problem, Rising Star is also a very interesting game. You are quite high there in the ranking, congrats. I'm at level 87 :-)

I'm a long-time player/investor, like you.

Currently, I consider myself more of an investor in the game than a player.

I choose my "battles" well and focus on them, that's my strategy.

I continue to have a long-term perspective with Splinterlands, but that doesn't mean I don't take out profit as well.

I'm a bit the reverse at the moment. Selling cards and trying to get better :-)

That's the great thing about this game. Even without playing it, you can participate in its economy!

It's a great game but I don't have a lot of time to play it. Right now I focus on pools as a passive investor. I hope the Soccer game arrives, which will surely encourage me to participate more.

I used to be playing more, but am progressing towards renting out my assets. But nevertheless it is still an amazing game.

When more time permits, I will come back to play proper

I'm trying to keep my rents as low as possible, so I only play in the Silver League. However, I will finish every season in the Gold League for the EOS Gold chests. This seems to be the most value for money strategy for me at least.

I'll rent just about everything as long as it's really cheap I guess. 🤣 As for long term, I've got no idea. I'll continue playing it as long as it stays fun. Any time and money put into the game (which is minimal on the $$$ side) is chalked up to my "entertainment/hobbies" budget.

In the end Splinterlands is a game and should be fun. If we can earn something on the way, why not :-)

I was playing it for a while, but since they changed the rules of the daily missions it became expensive to rent cards, while I played I managed to combine several cards to level them up, I will keep them for a future retake the game.

I have played Splinterlands for 13 months. In the middle of that time, I have quited and came back again playing Splinterlands again.

Currently in this bear market, we do not get anything from Splinterlands, I mean we do earn something but money-wise they are too small and not worthy. $2 a week? in the past its like $2 a day from an account.

So my strategy is simple, to play just for having fun. I do not expect more, I do not invest more and I am wondering around in Silver - Diamond league. I get onto Diamond League using level 3 Summoners. I do not wish to invest anymore, but sometime I do buy cards to shape up my decks.

How long I will stay playing splinterlands? well, until I can not get any more fun from that game.

to play just for having fun

I think that is the success to continue playing the game even if the financial incentives aren't that big anymore. I enjoy the game and I like to make my deck better. As long as I can finance it from the proceeds of the game, I'm kind of happy :-)

(Edited)

I play splinterland using 2 account.

  • First is my account in gold 1 league right now, but at the eos i will advanced to diamond just to get diamond chest next season, i can't battle in diamond because i only rent SILVER deck max, got penalty if i battle in diamond. i spent for rent approximately between 1200-1500 dec, i rent usually 5 elemen, fire (tarsa), water (kelya), earth (obsidian, Mylor), life (general sloan, Lorna), dragon (quick, brightoon bloom), and some neutral and i play in modern format. I rent several legendary monster like byzantinne kitty, yodin, lama, kron, i rent it cheap but only at level 1 only for brawl, rarely used for battle rank. IGN poplar-22.
  • Second is my scholar account which right now still battling in diamond 1, trying to break champion but not sure if i can advance before eos. IGN bltzr-wizard-710

For my account i play for fun and profit, i sell my sps, gold foil epic/legendary to earn some money, save some card like reward or common with not much profit to sell.

My scholar account only have chaos legion card max. Same mission for fun and profit :) , but i spent some my income for bought max reward card, so can get better result in battle rank. I already max, Uraeus, Pelacor Conjurer, several reward card only at gold league, and some not have it, still long way to go. Usually my scholar account is get more income than my account.

I started play it in at first i think in September/october 2021 but stop because confuse how to buy speelbook, after learning other NFT gaming in February 2022 i come back again to learn more about splinterlands, and succesfully bought speelbook and have fun play it until now. I plan to play it as long it can give some profit. I will quit if my reward sps/chest can't cover my cost for rent. For my scholar account as long as the time wasted and the results/reward obtained are quite balanced i will always play it.

Hope can get good reward from EOS Chest today 😀

I've been playing for around a year and a half. I rent lvl1-3 versions of anything cheap that I don't have, and keep open bids on Peakmonsters to try and get my own copies of them.
I use Archmage so that I can play for fun without worrying about if I'm getting enough matches in a day. I am enjoying Brawls a lot these days especially with the new SPS rewards. I still believe in the Splinterlanda team in the long run, and will continue to hold my assets until the market recovers. At that point I’ll probably start selling anything that doesn't play in modern as the seasons rotate. !LUV

I think it's a good idea to sell cards that are not useful to our game. I started to do the same a couple of months ago and I mangaged to free funds to purchase powerful new cards.

I shall try to answer the questions as they are, based on my current situation/gameplan.

  • I currently play in Wild Silver and target to end in Silver 1 each season. I don't play competitive so it's on a best effort basis.
  • Yes I do rent cards but it's not a lot, about 30 DEC a day. Slightly more towards EOS to reach 70k CP for Silver 1.
  • I think it's harder to find a ultimate goal/destination because everything changes fast in the crypto space. I used to think it can somehow become big - I know this is going to sound unpopular - but these days I am a bit pessimistic, due to the changes they made, the proposals they made, etc.
  • So currently, I am just playing for fun, mainly in brawls because I like playing with my guild.
  • I have been playing since Sep 2021 and I think I will play as long as it is still fun for me, but not as an income generator. It's a hobby! Hehe!

It's a hobby! Hehe!

I recently realized that for me Splinterlands is a hobby as well. If I consider it as a fun game and not as an investment, I enjoy it more :-)

I have a Silver alt deck and a Gold (sometimes Diamond) main deck. I am still mainly just accumulating rewards, though I have been thinking of trying to condense down to one account, but I feel a little pressured to keep accounts in both guilds that I'm in.

I'm playing 3 accounts at the moment and it's also because of the guilds I'm in that I don't feel comfortable to stop playing with them. However it's a lot of work to play several accounts :-)

I battle with some of my cards and rent out the rest. In a way, I want to build up a passive income through rentals and diesel pools. As of right now, most of that income is put back into the game to improve my deck.

I started playing Splinterlands in between Untamed and Chaos Legion. I do not rent cards however my strategy is to level up the cards as I earn additional funds. It is a slow process but has kept me moving up. I am now playing in the Gold League each season.

These are good responses. I have been playing for over a year now (I think) lol, can't actually remember. It feels like forever. Actually, I think it may have only been since June. I basically got in right before Chaos Legion packs came out.

Anyway, I way overspent on getting some of the beta, untamed, and dice cards, and then maxed out a Chaos deck and have done the same with Riftwatchers. I bought some land right before it took off (lucky) although I still paid around $100 for a plot so it's not that great of a deal anymore.

My goal is to make it to Champion and start collecting bigger rewards. I almost made it last season. I had two battles that, had I won, would have taken me over the number. I lost them both, of course. lol It's giving me hope though.

Right now I'm just trying to collect rental income and use that to buy some of the cheap cards out there. I really think land is going to hit the market hard when people find out how many cards it's actually going to take to work your plots. Hopefully it creates a big boom in the Splinterlands economy. If it could happen to coincide with a recovery in the real-world economy and the return of the bull, it could be a wild ride. Fingers crossed.

My ultimate goal is if my account ever becomes worth enough to pay off my house, I'll try and cash out and do that. Taking a mortgage payment out of the equation for the rest of my life would be a serious relief on the financial side. Stranger things have happened. If we get another big boom like what happened to the Beta and Untamed decks, it's certainly possible. Until then, I'll be battling away, trying not to punch my computer screen when my 6 speed flyer gets hit and poisoned by his blinded 3 speed melee while my 5 speed poison guys miss. But I'm not bitter at all... :-)

Splinterlands has this nice side that you don't even need to play the game to take part in it's economy.
