Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Battle Challenge! (Lost Legendaries)

eq_banner.png

I love the idea that the Weekly Battle Challenge changed instead of featuring a monster to represent a ruleset. It is so good to do something different than usual and I hope they will continually do this in the future. The best way would be to mix these challenges, so every week would be more interesting.

This week we need to show a ruleset, which is the Lost Legendaries and the way I used it to my (dis)advantage in the Battle I played. 😇

My only problem with this new system is that it is very difficult to do battles with the specific ruleset featured for the week challenge, because it is random what you are going to get and even if you have that ruleset you need to win it somehow, which is not always easy. 😏

There are no special tricks for this ruleset you just can't use any Legendary monster! 😅

This ruleset makes the battles on both sides much more predictable and less powerful, because the strongest monsters in the game are the Legendary ones. This ruleset is especially good for the lower budget players, because the legendary monsters can be quite expensive. The only exception is the Summoners, because the Legendary ones can be still used!

It requires a different strategy than usual and we need to think out of the box to try to take advantage of the Common, Rare and Epic cards only. 😊

RulesetDescription
Lost LegendariesLegendary units may not be used.
Tis but ScratchesAll monsters have the Cripple ability.

The mana cap was 49, which is more than enough to fill up my lineup with more expensive monsters and because there will be no legendaries I would have a bit more mana to spend on the monsters. The Legendary monsters are the most expensive in the game, so it is much easier to assemble a team.

The Tis but Scratches ruleset will reduce the maximum Health of the target monster by one with each hit a monster makes against another, so the Heal ability will be very limited in this game, because the maximum Health for all the monsters will be decreased. 😉

My lineup and the decision behind it!

Summoner
Kelya Frendul

image.png

Kelya is one of the best summoner in the Water deck and he is easily in the top 3 amongst the other Splinter summoners in the modern format. He gives +1 Speed and +1 Armor to all of his friendly monsters, which is amazing. The Speed buff allows his monsters not just to hit first in the battle, but also to dodge more Melee and Ranged attacks. 😁

Main Tank
Diemonshark

image.png

The Diemonshark is not the thoughest, but one of the quickest and strongest tank in Splinterlands. His most important ability is his Speed and Damage, which is further boosted if he will be damaged, because he will increase this huge Speed and damage further thanks to his Enrage ability.

The Trample ability is also amazing, because it means when this monster hits and kills its target, it will perform another attack on the next monster on the enemy team, so basically he will get a free extra attack in that round.

The only problem playing with the Diemonshark is when he is facing against a magic attack creatures, because he don't have any damage mitigation against this type of attack and the armor is completely useless as well. 😎

The Reacher
Flying Squid

image.png

The Flying Squid is a perfect addition to any Kelya setup, because he has a nice amount of Health. Unfortunately he has only one Armor, which comes from Kelya as well. His greatness comes from the fact that he has the Reach ability from Level 1, which allows him to attack from the second position and behind from his main tank.

His Speed is excellent and on Level 6 he receives the Blind ability, which will provide +15% chance of evading against any incoming Melee and Ranged attacks from the enemy monsters to the whole team. 😉

The Opportunist
Deeplurker

image.png

The Deeplurker annoys me a lot, especially when my opponent bring into the battle as well. The reason for that is the fact of the poison trigger rate. It triggers randomly with a 50% chance. This is annoying, because if my opponent triggers the poison more than me than I do not have too much chance for the win. He has good Speed as usual as a Water creature and the +4 melee attack damage is monstrous.

He also has the Opportunity ability, which makes this monster to attack from any position and will target the enemy monster with the lowest Health. 😊

diablo_divider_no1_water.png

Mass Slower
Creeping Ooze

image.png

The Creeping Ooze is a low cost monster, which means that he cost only 1 mana, so it is very easy to include into any team. His most important and only ability is the Slow, which will reduce the Speed of all the enemy monsters by one!

He acts as decoy as well, becaue if my opponent would bring a monster with the Opportunity or Snipe ability than he will be the first target and he might save my more important monsters in my backline. 😜

Speed Buffer and Damage Dealer
Supply Runner

image.png

The Supply Runner stats at Level 1 are not great, because he cost 6 mana, which is a lot. The +2 Ranged damage is not bad, but even on higher Levels are not really increasing. His true power comes at Level 5+, because he receives the Swiftness ability, which will increase the Speed of all of his friendly Monsters.

He is a Neutral monster, so bringing him in any team over Level 5 is a good strategy, because in an equal battle you will have the first attack with every creature you have thanks to his speedy Swiftness. The extra Health, which he provides on Level 10 comes handy as well, but it is not that important. 🤗

diablo_divider_no1_water.png

Main Damage Dealer
Axemaster

image.png

The Axemaster is an amazing damage dealer in the Water Splinter. His Double Srike ability enables him to attack twice in every round and deal 2 x 3 damage on Level 3, which is a lot of damage to destroy any kind of threat front of him. He has quite a high Speed, which will support him well to secure a hit on his enemies. The only drawback of him is his weak defense, so better to include something to

I always try to include him into my teams and without him the Water Splinter would not be as powerful as it is now. 😊

My opponent brought a similar team like mine, but with a few key differences, because he brought a *Wave Brood in the middle of his team to use his Taunt ability to control my damage into him. He also brought some exta Speed, but my Ooze made my team quicker by a little. 😊

There was a lot of Armor and Health on both side, so in the first round no one died on either side of the battlefield, but his Wave Brood took some serious damage, because almost all of my monsters were attacking him.

The Taunt ability resulted a quick death for the Wave Brood in the beginning of the second round and luckily my Axemaster still left one attack to destroy the Armor of the enemy Diemonshark, so my tank could secure a kill against him and take advantage of his Trample ability as well. 😁

Sadly my Diemonshark died right after that, but I had a slight advantage for now and even his Tide Biter died as well in this round.

In the third round my monsters were quicker just by a small amount thanks to my Ooze and his Slow ability and that changed the result of the battle completely for my favor. 😉
