My Weekly Battle Mage Secrets - Explosive Weaponry
The new Weekly ruleset Challenge is an amazing twist that I am enjoying so far and I hope there will be twists like that in the future to keep this Challenge's fresh. 😁
This week the ruleset is the Explosive Weaponry, which means that all the monsters on the battlefield will receive the Blast ability.
The Blast does additional damage to Monsters adjacent to the target Monster and that additional damage is equivalent to main damage divided by 2, rounded up. 😁
The upcoming Battle ruleset
|Explosive Weaponry||All Monsters have the Blast ability.|
|Even Stevens||Only monsters with even Mana costs may be used in battles.|
|Taking Sides||Neutral Monsters may not be used in battles.|
This battle had a 43 mana cap, which is quite nice and allow me to use whichever monster combo's that I want. The Explosive Weaponry ruleset makes me to choose the Water Splinter and Kelya, because he has a lot of fast monster and he also gives +1 Armor to all of his monsters, which is perfect against the indirect Blast damage. 😊
|Kelya is one of the best summoner in the Water deck and he is easily in the top 3 amongst the other Splinter summoners in modern format. He gives +1 Speed and +1 Armor to all of his friendly monsters, which is amazing and the Armor is a huge advantage in the Blast ruleset. The Speed buff allows his monsters not just to hit first in the battle, but also to dodge more melee and ranged attacks. 😁|
|The Diemonshark is one of my favorite tank within the Water deck, because he is very fast, got a lot of armor and health as well. He has the Trample ability from Level 1, which means that when this Monster hits and kills its target, it will perform another attack on the next Monster on the enemy Team. This ability combined with the Level 4 ability of his Enrage makes this monster a real "serial" killer. The Enrage makes this monster to increase its Melee attack and Speed when damaged. On Level 4 he receives an extra melee attack damage as well, so the total number of attack damage will be 3. 😌|
|I used Baakjira and his huge health combined with his Heal ability as an off-tank against the Explosive Weaponry ruleset, because none of the indirect damage would kill him and he will be able to soak taht damage up. He has Void against the magic attacks and the Slow will make my opponent monsters to lose one Speed as well. 😊|
|The Deeplurker as the name suggest is always lurking and looking for a weak monster, because his Opportunity ability allows him to target the enemy monster with the lowest health and on top of that he might poison it as well. (The trigger chance for poison is 50%) He has good *Speed as usual amongst the Water creatures and the +4 melee damage is monstrous. 🤗|
|I rarely use the Sea Stalker in my fights hence it is only a Level 1, but in this fight she came very handy, because she has a lot of ranged damage and the Snipe ability, which is quite extraordinary in this ruleset. The Snipe will make her target the enemy Monsters with Ranged, Magic, or no attack that are not in the first position. 😎|
|The Merdhampir is a ranged attack monster, so he is able to attack from my backline. He has a very important ability, which is the Life Leech, so he will increase his own health with every successful attack. The Cripple ability, will make his target to lose one maximum health with each attack he makes. 😆|
|I used the Kulu Swimhunter as a plain damage dealer, because for only four mana he has 3 ranged damage and one indirect damage to the monsters next to his target. 😉|
My opponent brought a similar team like mine just a stronger one! He had a Level 6 Kelya and all of his monsters were higher Leveled than mine. 😲
In the first round my backline took some serious damage or lost their armor and in the mean time his Wave Brood soaked up my entire damage from round one onto him and he died at the end of the round. Let's see how effective was this!
In the second round I lost my Merdhampir against his overpowered Deeplurker and mine managed to kill his Baakjira leving him without any tank for the next round. Sadly I also lost my Diemonshark as well, so the situation were not looking good! 😠
In the third round the little Speed difference played a huge role in the result of the game, because it allowed my Kulu to attack first killing his Deeplurker and Kulu with one shot!
After that his only one ranged monster fell into the first position and my dying monsters finished her off with ease! 😇
Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
My strategy was to try to be quicker than my opponent and that worked as I wanted, but even thought my opponent had a much stronger team I think it was a huge mistake to use the Wave Brood as a tank, because he collected too much damage in the first round killing himself and my Diemonshark was way stronger than the Wave Brood. 😊
