What's Good Splinterlands!

Hi everyone for this week's Splinterlands Art concept, I decided to make an art concept for Waka Spiritblade, a legendary death summoner. I was browsing some dynamic positioning of characters on Instagram and I found a creator who makes art concepts for comic design, I found sanfordgreene and his design which can be seen on the image below. I used the 3rd image of his image as my reference for my art concept.

Sketch & Background

Initially, fill in the background with purple and black using gradient tool and start with the sketch for the model dynamic position just like the one from my reference.

Line art

Proceed on the line art design, I wanted my Waka spirit blade dynamic position to be in a more on a 'crouching attack mode' while his face looking down but his eyes facing straight forward.

Casting Shadow

Next step, adding some background details of making him look like he's casting a spell, also added shadow so it wouldn't look so flat, also added his bling (gold necklace) I actually forgot to add this from the start, and I had created another layer for it and manually include the chains.

Base Color

After casting the shadow and other background details, I set it aside for a while and proceeded to make the base color and other intricate details of my character design started to mix it on one layer.

Color blend

To make it more lively, I added another layer to highlight it with more details from the eye color, the shade of color for the base color, and shadow details underneath the hair, arms, hands, and thorns. I included line art and just lowered the opacity of the base color to give it more features, especially the hair while mixing it with an airbrush tool to give further edges to the design, this is what I got with the final design, see the image below. 🤗
