Venari Knifers are specialized rogues, assassins, and thieves that make their living through shadier dealings in the Realm of Silence underneath Praetoria. They often work as part of criminal organizations or guilds, taking on contracts to put more gold in their pockets. Ability: Thorns (When hit with a Melee attack, does damage back to the attacker), Backfire at Level 6 (If an enemy misses this Monster with an attack, the attacker takes 2 damage).

If you read all my other Battle Reports that I've posted in the past, you'll see that I'm always the "Strategist Guy", thinking how to create the best plan in order to optimize my win rate and use the Rulesets in my favour.

I'm also a very frugal player (some would even say that I'm penny-pinching!), using mainly Level 1 Monsters and really affordable cards that can be bought and used by any newbie player.

But we're now living in very different times, due the New Ranked Rewards system. If you haven't read about them, take a look at the Splinterlands Official Post HERE.

The world is different, the incentives are different, and we have to adapt. I wanted to understand better how the new Reward System worked, and I decided to changed my strategy a bit for these first few days in order to test some new ideas.

OK! OK! I'll admit! I'm just sugarcoating what happened! I'm guilty of doing everything that I stand against!

I just rented two incredibly expensive cards in order to run the DIRTIEST, MOST OVERPOWERED COMBO of the whole game (Kron the Undying and Scarred Llama Mage) so I could ROLFSTOMP MY ENEMIES and earn lots of Reward Chests right on the first day of the new system!

I ignored everything on the matches (Mana Cap, Rulesets, Enemy's Match History) and just played Kron and Llama. Kron and Llama. And then MORE Kron and Llama.

I PLAYED KRON AND LLAMA FOR AGES.

I have sinned.

I exploited the greasiest, filthiest wombo-combo of Splinterlands.

I one-tricked my way into a Rating that I shouldn't belong to.

I saw things that no one should been able to see.

AND IT WAS GREAT.

Let's analyze my team!

• My Summoner is Scarred Llama Mage. He's the first part of my dirty Wombo-Combo, as this Summoner gives the Last Standing ability (Gains increased stats if it's the only Monster on the team alive. Multiplier x1.5 rounded up.) to your whole team. The idea is that the Kron the Undying will be the last Monster alive (as he has huge Health and the ability to Heal himself), transforming him in an absolute invincible beast! The Llama also Cleanse all Debuffs that are affecting your 1st Monster: when Kron becomes the only Monster alive, he'll also be your 1st Monster. Thus, the Llama protect him against any pesky debuffs that your enemy might give you, like Poison, Cripple or Affliction.

• The frontline tank is the Venari Knifer. I honestly love this Monster as he can fill his role (Tank against Melee Attacks) very well. He has high Speed (thus making him harder to hit) and, when hitted, he reflects back some damage due the Thorns ability. Unfortunately, on this Match, my enemy focused heavily on Magic Damage, and thus the Thorns ability hadn't the opportunity to shine.

• My 2nd Monster is the Mushroom Seer. Another card that I love to use when I'm playing with the Forest Splinter. Due his Silence ability, this Monster is the ideal counter against Magic Monsters: he debuffs the whole enemy team with -1 Magic Damage. This was very useful on the match due the high number of Magic Monsters played by my opponent, and allowed my team to stay alive a little longer than expected.

• My 3rd Monster is Goblin Psychic. Another staple in my Forest Splinter games due the Tank Heal ability, allowing your tank to stay alive way longer than he should be. But, in this match, I was just expecting that my whole team died so Kron could become the Last Standing Monster, so it didn't made much of a difference in the end!

• My 4th Monster is the Centauri Mage. I'm not a huge fan of this Monster due the high Mana cost and low Damage. I understand that this card was made to be a secondary Tank due the high Health and the Return Fire ability, but I find that there are usually other stronger, more useful cards to be played. Nonetheless, as I had lots Mana to spend on this game, I could fit this Monster on the team!

• My 5th Monster is the Kron the Undying. The base stats of this Monsters are already incredible: 3 Magic Damage, 10 Health, and the ability to Self Heal 3 Health per round. But, when the Last Standing ability from Scarred Llama Mage triggers, he becomes an almost-invincible beast with 18 Health, 3 Speed, 5 Magic Damage, and the ability to Self Heal 6 Health per round!

• My 6th and last Monster is the Mycelic Slipspawn. Kron the Undying is usually the last Monster you should play, as you want him to be the Last Standing Monster. Nonetheless, I decided to play the Mycelic Slipspawn as my last Monster because I knew that he would die before Kron due the Taunt ability: as the Mycelic would be attracting all the incoming damage of the enemies to her, he'll end up dead sooner rather than later.

Good News, Everyone! The battle was a Success!

The match was very close!

As you can imagine, in overall terms, my team was WAY weaker than my opponent. I just don't have the cards to be on par with the opponents I'm fighting against now that I'm on the Rating 1,800.

My enemy was able to sweep through my own team, and I was barely able to kill 2 of his Monsters.

But then Kron the Undying became the Last Standing Monster, and everything changed in my favour: he started to one-shot the enemy Monsters, and they just didn't had the firepower to kill him anymore due his HUGE Self Healing.

They dealt damage to Kron, Kron healed himself, and then Kron killed an enemy Monster. Each time this cycle repeated, they were dealing less and less damage to Kron, while Kron slowly healed himself back to the Full Health.

Winning was inevitable.
