Another Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge is out, I am a bit late in writing this one, but unfortunately, I have been busy during the weekend, so let's write it on a Monday!

This time I will talk about the Broken Arrows Battle Rule:

It is an easy Rule to understand, simply it is forbidden to deploy Monsters with Ranged Attacks, including Monsters with two types of attack:

Some examples.

So with this Battle Rule, we are not allowed to use Ranged Attack Monsters, making useless or at least less useful some Summoners:

All these Summoners boost or debuff the Ranged Attacks so it is better to avoid them when there is the Broken Arrows Rule.

Furthermore, I would like to highlight some "meta" Monsters that will not be allowed to be deployed:

I would always play with the Broken Arrows Battle Rule only to avoid facing the Axemaster.

Now that I finished analyzing the Rule, it is time to take a look at my battle:

This Battle is really peculiar because there is a high Mana Cap and beyond the Broken Arrows Battle Rule there's the Counterspell Rule:

So in this battle besides not being allowed to use Ranged Attack Monsters, it is not recommended to use Magic Attack Monsters because they will receive damage back.

There could be some exceptions like Magic Attack Monsters with the Void or the Void Armor ability:

With the Void ability they wouldn't receive damage back and with the Void Armor ability they would be covered until the Armor is up, but the Water Element is not available in this battle and I wouldn't expect a large use of Magic Attack Monsters so using those type of Monsters would be a "waste of a spot", in my opinion.

So I chose the Fire Summoner focusing on Melee Attacks and strong defense against Melee Attacks thanks to the Disintegrator and its Demoralize ability that lowers the Opponent's Monsters' Melee Attack and the Ferox Defender that thanks to its Protect ability ensure a +2 in Armor stat to all my Monsters, furthermore it synergizes well with my tank the Grum Fireblade that thanks to its abilities Void and Void Armor is a nice counter in case my Opponent chose Magic Attack Monsters:

My Opponent chose the last Chaos Legion Airdropped Summoner Lily Shieldpaw that gives a +1 buff in Health stat and gives all its Monsters the Camouflage ability, furthermore it will heal the back-line Monster that received more damage during the Round thanks to the Triage ability.
My Opponent deployed the Mycelic Slipspawn with the Taunt ability that overcome the Camouflage ability, so my Monsters would attack it instead of the first-line Monster, in this way its Summoner will heal the Mycelic Slipsawn and the Goblin Psychic will heal its tank.

After the first round, the battle was still balanced.

But already after the second round, the battle was determined, because I was able to deal a lot more damages more than my Opponent.

After the fourth round, the Battle was practically over, it was a 6vs4 in my favor.

And I won during the 8th Round with five Monsters still alive.

It was an amazing battle, with a lot of high Mana cost Monsters but, in my opinion, my Opponent made some mistakes:

  • Using Magic Attack Monsters with the Counterspell Battle Rule, even with the Summoner's Triage ability.
  • Deploying in the last position the Terraceous Grunt that would be useful to "bait" Monsters with the Sneak ability, but not if your Summoner gives it the Camouflage ability and you chose to deploy a Monster with the Taunt ability, it was just a wasted spot.
  • Not boosting its Monsters Speed or Armor stats, considering the probable use of Melee Attackers.

Final Considerations: in Splinterlands when there are high mana battles is always hard to find the right line-up because there are really a lot of possibilities, it is important in my opinion to try both to weaken your Opponent and to make every available spot in the line-up as useful as possible, in this battle I had two Monsters incapable of direct Attacks, but one weakened my Opponent's Monsters Melee attack stat (the Disintegrator) and one boosted my Monsters' Armor stat (the Ferox Defender), so I have been able to win.
