New week, new Weekly Battle Challenge!

The subject of this week is the Antoid Platoon.

introplat.png

1 ) Mana cost: 4 Relatively high Mana cost considering the stats, but the Ability justifies it.

2 ) Melee Attack: 1 Lowest Melee Attack possible, could be useless versus Monsters with the Shield ability, luckily there's Tarsa as a Fire Summoner.

3 ) Speed: 1 Antoid Platoon's first task is to resist to protect other cards, so Speed is relatively important for it.

4 ) Expansion: Chaos Legion I highlighted that because in the near future the Expansion of a card will be essential to know if it is playable in the Modern format or in the Wild format (MF: playable only in the last two Expansions that came out on Splinterlands, WF: every Expansion is playable).

5 ) Armor: 2 Great stat, especially considering the Antoid Platoon's Ability.

6 ) Health: 3 Unfortunately this stat makes the Antoid Platoon useless versus Magic Decks, too low.

7 ) Element: Fire It means that it can be used only with Fire and Dragon Summoners.

8 ) Ability: Shield Probably the best ability for a tank, it halves the Physical damages received.

The Antoid Platoon can be useful if the opponent doesn't use Magic Attack Monsters.

I chose Rules of Combat where Magic Attack is weakened or totally absent, and Rules where we can use the Antoid Platoon as bait, knowing where the Opponent's Monsters will attack.

The introduction to the card is over, let's see how the battle went!

Rules Of Combat: Positive The "Weak Magic" Rule of combat is really positive for the Antoid Platoon, because, as I said before, the real problem for this Tank is Magic Attack Monsters.

Mana Cap: Positive Low Mana Cost means weaker Monsters, weaker Monsters often have low Physical Attack stat, it means that the Shield Ability can really be useful and "game-changing.

Active Elements: Neutral Yes, there is the Earth element that means Magic, but there's no Water element, so no risk to fighting a Kelya Frendul Summoner who gives +1 in Speed and Armor.

Summoner: Tarsa One of my favorite Chaos Legion Summoners, it gives a +1 bonus in Health and Melee Attack, perfect for the Fire Monsters.

Focus: Fire Lucky me, the focus coincides with the strategy I decided to use.

The Strategy: Considering my Opponent's previous battles I noticed that they probably have the same focus, Fire, so I decided to use the Antoid Platoon as a Tank and to place two baits, one to protect my "Damage Dealers" from the Opponent's Monsters with the Sneak ability (the Radiated Scorcher) and one to protect them from Monsters with the Opportunity ability (the Scorch Fiend).

So, in the first position I placed our "Main Character":

After it, I placed the first bait:

scorchfiend.png

Really an important card, especially in low Mana cost battles, it allows you to use a card "for free".

Behind it I placed my first "Damage Dealer":

I put Health as a "Con" because it is relatively low, but I chose it only to find a weakness to this wonderful card, one of the best rare cards in the Chaos Legion Expansion in my opinion.

After the Tenyii Striker I chose the other "Damage Dealer":

Another amazing card, especially considering that it has Armor too, the Uraeus used with Tarsa becomes really dominant, for only 3 Mana.

And in the last position another bait:

radiatedscorcher.png

To be honest, when it levels up unlocking the ability, it becomes more than a simple bait, it can be really useful to counter Monsters with high Armor.

I love GF cards...well who doesn't?

The strategy was set, let's see how the battle went:

The Opponent surprised me by deploying the Creeping Ooze, luckily my Tarsa was Level 2 and my cards too, so I didn't suffer too much from the lower speed.

As expected they chose Monsters with the Sneak Ability and the Opportunity Ability, but I was ready.

bat2.png

Baits worked, and the Antoid Platoon resisted until the end of the battle.

bT3.png

A nice victory and a nice amount of RP earned, thanks to the Golden Foil cards.

Final Consideration:

The Antoid Platoon is a nice Low Cost Tank, its weaknesses are the Opponent's Monsters with high Speed or with a Magic Attack, so never use it versus a Regal Peryton.

Leveling it up the Antoid Platoon becomes really interesting, considering that it learns the Scavenger Ability too, improving its tanking skills.

Best Regards,
Magalli
