Magalli's "SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! TIME MAGE!"

New week, new "Share your Battle" challenge, this week the subject is the Time Mage.

Before talking about the card, I want to say that I analyzed it as a Bronze player.

So let's start analyzing the card:

carta.png

1 ) Mana cost: 4 Fair Mana Cost considering it is a Magic attack card with a helpful ability.

2 ) Magic Attack: 1 Low Magic attack, always useful because you can't miss and you always hit (except particular Opponent's Monsters abilities)

3 ) Speed: 4 Really nice stat, considering its ability.

4 ) Expansion: Chaos Legion I highlighted that because in the near future the Expansion of a card will be essential to know if it is playable in the Modern format or in the Wild format (MF: playable only in the last two Expansions that came out on Splinterlands, WF: every Expansion is playable).

5 ) Health: 3 Nice Health amount, the Time Mage can absorb some damages.

6 ) Element: Light Its element is "Light" which can be used only with Light Summoners and Dragon Summoners.

7 ) Ability: Slow It is a handy ability.

Especially considering how the "Attack accuracy" works:

Please note: the Time Mage has no armor.

The Time Magic has no similar cards to be compared to in CL expansion, because its ability is pretty unique in Light decks.

And with such a useful ability I think it is more important to understand when it's better NOT to use the Time Magic, because, if possible, it should be always in your Light deck as a support card.

These are the abilities that don't make it advantageous to use the Time Mage:

I choose "Rules of Combat" where the Slow ability loses importance or where it is impossible to use the Time Mage.
With other "Rules of Combat," it is always a good choice to use the card when the Mana Cap allows it, without sacrificing other important Monsters.

The introduction to the Time Mage is finished, let's see how to use it!

Schermata 20220421 alle 12.07.40.png

Rules of Combat: Neutral There are no "Rules of Combat" in this battle.

Mana Cap: Positive I can use the Time Magic combined with other Light cards to set a nice combo.

Active Elements: Neutral All the elements are choosable, but I'm pretty confident in my strategy.

Schermata 20220421 alle 12.09.35.png

I chose one of the most common combos in Bronze League, the Shieldbearer supported by the Venari Cristalsmith and the Scavo Hireling.
After these 3 fundamental cards, you can choose to support the Shiledbearer with other Supports such as the Truthspeaker, or choose to go for damages by selecting one of the Range/Melee attack Monsters.

I chose the third option: using the Time Mage to slow my Opponent's Monsters and the Celestial Harpy to attack the second lines, I did it to avoid eventual "stalemates", I'll explain myself better after presenting the cards and the combo I used.

Mother Khala as a Summoner guarantees a nice +1 in Health.

Then the Shieldbearer with its Taunt ability.

I placed the Time Mage, and then the Venari Crystalsmith with its Tank Heal ability.
A Monster with the Taunt ability supported by a Tank Heal ability user is a problem for an opponent that can't deal a high number of damages in a single turn. This is the first part of the Light combo.

venari.png

After the Venari I placed the Celestial Harpy, it has two abilities: Flying and Opportunity, a nice "sweeper" considering that it ignores the eventual flying opponents and can deal damage to the Opponent's second lines while the Shiledbearer absorbs all the damages.

harpy.png

In the end, I placed the Scavo Hireling, it is the last combo part, with its Repair ability it can restore the Shieldbearer's armor once per turn, making it more resistant.

scavo.png

To recap: the Shieldbearer will absorb all the hits, the Scavo and the Venari will cure it, in the meantime, the Harpy will swipe eventual Opponent's support (avoiding possible "stalemate") and our star, the Time Mage will hit with its Magic Attack and will slow down the Opponent's Monsters.

Schermata 20220421 alle 11.03.20.png

My Opponent chose the Wizard of Westwood to lower my armor (-2), luckily the Shieldbearer has 4 in this stat, and it can still count on it.

Schermata 20220421 alle 16.55.28.png

Perfect battle and nice win, the Shieldbearer managed to absorb all damages from the Opponent's monster and didn't die.

Schermata 20220421 alle 11.05.09.png

That is a really powerful combo in Bronze League.

oneup2.png

Final Consideration: the Time Mage is an interesting support card, with a Magic attack and the precious Slow ability. It can really be a "trump card" if it is used in the right battles.

Schermata 20220421 alle 16.58.53.png

Considering the level ups, it became even more interesting, at Level 5 it learns the Rust ability that reduces all enemy monsters' armor by 2.
