Is buying quest potions viable strategy again?

Greetings all!

For newer players quest potions might not be so familiar as they have not been available to buy with credits since last August and you have only been able to buy them using DEC, which has been well above it's peg $0.001 ever since. However with the crypto world going the way it does at the moment and time creeping closer and closer to the end of the air drop, I started thinking, is buying quest potions with DEC really such a horrible idea any longer?

Each quest potions costs 750 DEC (being in a guild will give you discounts up to 10% depending on your guilds lodge building level) and regardless of your league, it gives you 5 extra chests on your daily quest. So in bronze three you would receive 6 daily chests instead of 1 and in silver 1 you would receive 9 chests instead of 4.

If you buy 10 or 100 potions at the time you get additional ones. If you buy 10 potions you get 1 additional potion and if you buy 100, you get 15 extra potions bringing the price down even lower.

I'm going to talk about the general price of the quest potion and you can adjust the calculation based on your own guilds lodge level and on how many potions you are willing to buy at a time.

Also keep in mind that new rewards cards are on their way to the chests meaning that it is likely that the average price of a daily chests will go up with the hype of new cards and when people are trying to build up their new rewards cards and they are likely temporarily very expensive on the market.

Quest potions costs 750 and gives 5 extra chest meaning that you are paying 150 DEC per chest.

Splintertools.io website shows you how much your chests are worth for each league as in bronze you get less cards and no DEC where as in diamond you get more cards and even chaos legion packs.

For Champion one players it should be a no brainer to buy their daily quest potions.

You pay 150 DEC per chest and receive back value of 181.3 DEC per chest profiting you on average 155 DEC per day:

Diamond one seems to be the cut off point where it is still profitable to buy quest potions even if you don't qualify for any discounts:

In gold 1 it's already not profitable unless you belong to a guild and buy your quest potions in bulks:

In silver and bronze you purely like opening chests and gambling against the odds if you are doing this regardless of your guild level and buying them 100(+15) at a time.

Bronze 1:

Conclusion: If you are in gold with and belong to well established guild, buy in bulks, you can gamble on quest potions guilt free.

If you are are diamond and up, you can pretty much guarantee profits buying quest potions.

If you are playing in Silver or below, keep and eye out for new rewards cards and how they impact average chests value in your league. It is very much possible that quest potions will be profitable also in lower leagues once new rewards cards are out.

There is also a possibility that with new rewards rework, quest potions will be removed from the shop. This would not mean that the quest potions already owned by players wouldn't work any longer, simply that you can't buy more of them.

Therefore I recommend keeping an eye out for new rewards rework update on peakd, and once it comes, see if quest potions would be beneficial in the new environment and stack on them heavily if it seems to be the case.

When the team stopped us players buying them with credits they did it without warning. One morning the options wasn't there. This was to prevent players from stacking on them. It's very much possible that team might do something similar again, so I think it might be a decent gamble to buy 115 quest potions now. It's a gamble, not financial advice, but I'm personally considering it strongly with DEC price being where it is.

Be aware that splintertool chest value calculator is counting chaos packs to be worth $4 instead of $2.50ish which would be today's price in hive engine.
