(Edited)

Today I explore the mysteries of the mysterious Bortus, the Turtle (or turtle-like) summoner that suggests a hidden and forbidden history, which makes it very interesting to learn and learn more about him.

Splinterlands explains to us on his page:

"Many of the Turtle people known as Tortisians are skilled in magic, but only Bortus has risen to the level of summoner in the Mount Mox Tournaments. He taunts and summons like he has something to prove to everyone who watches, and he absolutely hates the fact that his name rhymes with tortoise. Frankly, the comparison of a glorified Tortisian summoner to a common tortoise is offensive to Bortus".

A rather curious explanation if you ask me, because it clearly leaves me with a suspicion that for some unknown reason, this summoner is resentful, has some pending debt that he needs to settle and in my opinion, this is revenge, surely for a loved one. that they killed him or perhaps something that was taken from him in his life.

The fact that this summoner was the only one to reach summoner level in tournaments makes me think that there is something in his race, in his people, that surely does not allow easy access to tournaments. Perhaps it is a matter that has to do with the politics and organization they have in their world, in which I think it is possible that only the most prepared Tortisians are allowed to choose to be representatives of their people, it is probably about that . Or maybe it's like in many other cultures, that only people of a certain economic level or a lot of resources are allowed to have that privilege of going to the tournament. Nor do I rule out the option that the rules of the Monte Moux tournaments limit the Tortisianos for some reason that we do not know, it is something that I do not know for now, but it would be very good if they gave us some light on this.

It really calls my attention that Bortus is a bully because we are clearly informed that he mocks and summons as if he had something to prove, this for me is a clear demonstration that he has a deep desire for revenge, or to show everyone that he can do it, that he is valuable, and that he is also very good at it, which in general terms is another factor that confirms my theory that there is a hidden resentment in the history of this summoner. In addition, it is very clear that he hates the fact that his name rhymes with Turtle, which makes me think that for some reason he is not comfortable feeling like a Tortisian, perhaps he has had some traumatic experience with turtles in his past, this marked him and for He hates that his name rhymes with turtle, because it reminds them of them? Something like what happens with Batman, only in Batman's case he chose the name as a motivation for his phobia of bats. And of course comparing it to a turtle is quite offensive for these reasons.

In any case, this is something that I hope will be clarified in the future, because for someone as interested in the game's lore as I am, it is something very intriguing and important. And it is that from my point of view the lore of the game is what gives the most life and meaning to the participation of the summoners, to the battles, and what fills all of splinterlands with color. But now with the lands, which give a deep meaning to the whole game.

Bortus is a Rare summoner from the Untamed collection that is quite cheap to use because his cost is only 3 mana points, which obviously makes him the best choice for low mana cost battles. But what is interesting about this summoner is that he subtracts 1 point of magic damage from all enemy creatures, which evidently further reaffirms my conviction that he is a character resentful of something they did to him, and that this causes his aura, his presence , intimidate the enemy causing them to lose focus and the fear they inflict cause their opponents to deal less magic damage. I also find it very useful that from level 3 he can summon 3 rare creatures, which gives him a very good utility.

This is a card that is quite mysterious in my opinion, especially because of the resemblance it has with the comic of animated characters that we all know: "ninja turtles". Its appearance is extremely similar, with modifications that make it look like a cross between Splinter (who is the mystical character that guides the ninja turtles in the comic) with a magician, so for me the wink is very evident. Of course this is just speculation on my part. The card shows a close-up of Bortus, where we can appreciate his taciturn look, almost as if saying "I'm coming for you, I'm in no hurry" to his enemies. I think the detail that they have added a borneo to the sides of the elemental symbol of water, which emulates the waves of the ocean, is very nice. Also the delicate appearance like marbling and lines that I think I understand as lightning or magical energy, represented in a turquoise blue at the bottom of the card. In short, this is a summoner that seems very mysterious to me and that I would love to know more about, learn more about his history and all his lore. He is a summoner that I usually use when he has to do battles against opponents that use magic.
