Chaos Dragon and his unpredictable Scatter Shots

I hope all of you are well and enjoying the weekend at it’s best. Thou it is already night here and I haven't done anything exciting. I spent my noon time taking a sweet nap and also completed watching 2 episodes of the newly launched Stranger Things season in Netflix today. Are you watching it too?

Now, on the other hand, the current splinterlands season has come almost to the end and inly 1 day and 16 hours left for the current season to end. The war for leaderboard has already started and I have successfully crossed 3800+ trophies and now playing around 3750 in Diamond leaderboard. I have already delegated Pelacor Conjurer and Venari Crystalsmith to red-dog and also thinking to delegate some more cards tomorrow if it helps me to reach and secure the 20k dec price. Surely the leaderboard war has become harder and harder as more player come to fight for a spot. And with so many cards to choose from, it is complex as well to guess what your opponent may use against you.

CHAOS DRAGON

Now, let me come to my main theme of this post as today, I am going to showcase another awesome Chaos monster, Chaos Dragon with you all today.

Chaos Dragon is a furious monster that belongs to the Dragon realm and it is a legendary type card. Chaos Dragon costs 14 mana to be used in battlefield, making it one of the most costliest card mana wise. It’s attack type is magic .. with a twist of abilities. Let us now take a deeper look into it’s tier wise stats and abilities.

Bronze

At level 1, this monster possesses 3 magic attack at 3 speed with 4 armour and 10 health. It also gets the Flying and Scattershot ability since it’s initial level. The scattershot anility makes it’s attacks unpredictable.

Silver

At level 2, it gets the same 3 magic attack at 3 speed with 4 armour and 10 health and also gets a new ability - Blast.

Gold

At level 3, this monster get another ability Blind while having the same stats as of it’s precious level. With the blind ability, l the enemy melee and ranged monsters will have an increased chance of missing attacks.

Diamond/Champion

At level 4, this monster’s magic attack gets increased from 3 to 4 while having all the rest stats same as of it’s previous level.

Important points about Chaos Dragon

• First of all, the mana cost to use Chaos Dragon in a battle is 14, which discourages it to be used in mini and medium mana limit matches.

• The amour + shield combo makes it a hard target to knock down for melee and range monsters. However, even at max level it only 2 10 health so consider it weak against magic attacks.

• The flying and Blind ability upon that adds a bit of evade protection and you will get saved from some melee and range attacks if your luck goes well.

• Chaos Dragon’s attack type is certainly not generic. Based on it’s stat, it has a high magic attack monster along with the blast ability. But the Scattershot ability makes very unique, as it will attack a random target each time. It goes best when you want to clear the opponent’s middle or rear side cards at initial stage. But, it’s totally random so calculate the odds.

Market Stat

Chaos Dragon is currently being old in the splinterlands market for only 9.89$ per BCX and onwards and will cost you about 9,671.554 DEC. There is also a max level Chaos Dragon available for 103.94$ and will cost you 102,047 dec as per current market rate.

Well, this time I got a pretty big 58 mana limit match with the blast and Slow Speed ruleset. A total of Splinters were allowed to be chosen this time and I chose the DRagon summoner Selenia along with some giant monsters as stated below.

THE KRAKEN

I chose the vicious monster Kraken at the front position of my lineup. I chose this monster mainly because of it’s armour + health combo along with Taunt ability which attracts all enemy attacks upon it and protects my other monsters. I am using a level 4 in here and it carries 4 melee attack 4 speed with 4 armour and 14 health along with 4 abilities - Taunt, Enrage. Retaliate and Demoralize.

CORNEALUS

I wanted to place the Cornealus at the second position of my lineup mainly to get saved from all types of blast attacks. I am using a level 4 and it has 4 range attack at 3 speed with 12 health along with 4 abilities - thorns, magic reflect, return fire and heal.

CHAOS DRAGON

I used our hero the Chaos Dragon at the third place of my lineup mainly to hold the enemy attack for longer with its high health + armour combo coated with Blind and Flying ability. I am using a level 4 in here and it possesses 4 magic attack at 3 speed with 4 armour and 10 health along with Scattershot, Flying, Blind and Blast ability.

TOWER GRIFFIN

I chose the Tower Griffin at the fourth place of my lineup mainly to give all my monsters an extra protective layer of shield. I am using a level 8 in here and it has 2 range attack at 4 speed with 4 health along with flying and Protect ability.

ZYVAX VUUL

I selected the Jyvax Vuul at the fifth position of my lineup and I chose it mainly because of it’s unmatchable attack with Recharge ability, which will helpfully assist me in killing big enemy cards. I am using a level 4 in here and it holds 3 range attack at 3 speed with 9 health along with 4 abilities - Flying,Recharge, Close Range and Death Blow.

LIGHTNING DRAGON

I chose the Lightning Dragon at the last position of my lineup because i Couldn’t find a better match as a range card that time. I am using s level 4 in here and it has 3 range attack at 6 speed with 7 health along with 4 abilities - Flying, Stun, Piercing and Blast.

Match Result

It was a bug mana limit match and I expected my opponent to go with big cards as well, especially magics. However, as the match got revealed, I found out that my opponent has used the new Life summoner General Sloan which gives +1 range buff to all friendly monsters. So we are both even here with +1 range attack summoners. He chose Uriel the Purifier at the front, followed by Almo Cambio, Djinn Renova, Adelade Brightwing, Venari Crystalsmith and Silvershield Sheriff at the end. Now, let’s see how the Chaos Dragon actually performs in real by inspecting him battling in this match.

At the first round, both my Zyvax and the enemy Uriel skipped attack because of their Recharge ability. The enemy Adelade having the lowest speed attacked first and when my Chaos Dragon’s turn came, it targeted the enemy Djinn Renova and also damaged the adjacent monsters with blast. No cards got down at level one.

At level 2, both the Recharge monsters were ready to attack. Adelade again attacked first and damaged my Kraken’s health down to 6. When the turn came toy Chaos Dragon, it decoded to target the Cambio this time and damaged it’s health down to 6. The blast not damage only wounded the Uriel, but also knocked down the Djinn Renova. And thus the first kill got written in the name of Chaos. However, Adelade resurrect back the Renova but only with 1 health. (+ 1 from the strengthen.) The Uriel then took down the wounded Kraken and also damaged the Cornealus badly. The Kraken dis one last retaliate before dying. The round got ended with taking out my Cornealus later on and the Cambio from opponent side.

At round 3, both the recharge monsters got useless again and as my Chaos Dragon is now at front, he cannot get a good use of it’s scattershot. However, with the help of blast, it killed down both the Uriel and the Renova and at this moment, I got my wining confidence. However, my Tower Griffin also hot also dead thanks to the enemy Sheriff. But my lIghtning Dragon soon after took a sweet revenge by reducing the Adelade’s health down to 1 and the round ended here.

As round 4 started, Adelade again attacked first and damaged my Chaos. But then my Zyvax attacked and killed the Venari Crytalsmith with it’s super recharged blast damage, thou the Adelade got saved because of her shield. However, my Chaos attacked next and finally killed the Adelade with it’s high magic damage. The poor Sheriff was the only enemy monster remaining on opponent side which later got taken care of as well by my chaos and I scored another win here.

It was indeed a spectacular match and I also played Chaos Dragon and Zyvax Vuul for the first time together, just for research purpose lol. But it seems the duet is working well in high mana matches. This match was already having the blast ruleset so every monster was having it. Thus the shield + health combo of my Chaos Dragon really benefitted me. As tou can see, after the first 2 minster went down, the Chaos Dragon hold the front Defence position and even for successful in protecting it.
