Splinterlands lost 6 million SPS and 8 million DEC 😣

Greetings players,

I guess you all are doing well in your life and also enjoying playing this game in daily basis. For me, as I have made a good collection in modern format, right now I am focusing on tournaments, especially the modern format ones and trying to play and secure good SPS rewards from them. In my previous post, I shared my earnings from tournaments and no doubt it is helping me well to build my SPS stake and right now my goal is to buy the remaining Riftwatchers cards that I am missing, so that I can perform even better in tourneys and also to keep my deck future ready. However, as I am spending more and more time playing ranked, tourneys and brawls and learning new strategies and tricks, I am finding it hard to balance it with my life and feeling the importance of time management. Today also, it was a hectic day for me because I played 3 tourneys back to back and also finished playing the ranked matches but realised it’s already night and I still have to write post and also have to act upon some personal work as well. But I am really enjoying playing the tourneys and will encourage you all to participate in the ones you are eligible too in order to earn more from this game.

On the other hand, Recently a terrible incident surfaced about splinterlands and later also confirmed by @yabapmatt about a security incident. As he stated in the official discord, on 16th April some hot wallets of splinterlands got stolen which contained a large amount of SPS and DEC tokens and dumped on market. These hot wallets were being used in the past for the old bridges between the game and BSC / ETH chains and were stopped being used after Terablock took over. However, the official team kept a small portion of SPS and DEC in these wallets as back up but did not realised and removed balances from these hot wallets after they stopped using them completely. As per official statement, approximately 6 million SPS and 8 million DEC were stolen and directly dumped on the market and I guess this recent incident have caused the dip in the price of SPS and DEC. Though it’s only a tiny portion of the total SPS and DEC supply that were affected in this incident and the token price didn't suffer that much, the team is looking deeply into it to find out how the incident happened and what caused the breach and compromised the wallets.

Till now, there is no indication that anything else was affected or at risk at this time but still, the team is conducting a thorough research of all the hot wallets security and working hard so that nothing like this happens in future. They also apologised to the community for the oversight and I really liked the fact that they didn't try to hide the news and shared openly with all of us even when there was a high chance that this may create a panic among players and investors and can harm the token price as well. The transparency between the project owners and the investors here is worth praising and I strongly think this will make the bond between the team and us players / investors even stronger on long term and want to say Thanks to the amazing team for the same. It’s been over 3 days since the incident has happened but as you can clearly see in the market, the price of SPS and DEC has gone only a little lower but now being stable and hopefully will start making positive moves pretty soon.

Not only tournaments, but I am also into brawls and as a proud guild member of The Neoxian Guild we are playing into every brawls and winning SPS and merits as rewards. Thanks to the guild owner @neoxian, our guild officer @xawi and all my fellow guild warriors for their tireless effort into every brawls. In the last brawl which ended some days ago, we again secured a place in the top places and every guild player got rewarded with 10,057 merits and 162.319 SPS each while the guild won total 176 crowns. If you also play brawls, you already know the importance of brawl in terms of merit and SPS earnings and the way team splinterlands increasing the importance of gladius cards, collecting merits and making a good gladius collection is a must because with the new rulesets, gladius cards can be used in ranked matches and tournaments as well.

However, I was collecting and saving merits that I get from brawls and reward chests for quite some time now and today when I checked, I got surprised seeing a ton of merits sitting idle in my account, I had saved a whooping 46k + merits so without a second thought, I immediately bought 23 gladius packs using the merit stack and opened them right away and at above, you can see what I pulled. Yes, I would say this time my luck really shined well and I pulled my favourite brawl card 3x Quora Regular Foil, 1x legendary Jini Guise, 4x epic cards (excluding the Quoras) with some more amazing rare and common gild foil gladius cards from those 23 packs and to be honest I am really happy with the pull. My gladius cards collection is growing well over time and I have already upgraded some of them close to Gold level. Hopefully I think I will upgrade the rest cards to gold level pretty soon (within next 2-3 months as some gladius cards are pretty rare to get than others) so that I can perform even better in battles.
