Battle Mage Secrets - Going the Distance

image.png

I have recently taken over the Team Philippines Splinterlands Account, supporting our Community through the earnings provided through a daily grind as well as participation in Brawls. This revenue is then split to award our Top 10 Staked TeamPH Token Holders (Not including our Board Members) as well as provide liquidity for our Curation Account.

It is a completely different experience as I am used to playing both formats with a variety of maxed out cards from various Editions on my main account, however @Team-Philippines is limited to Chaos Legion and Reward Cards, and unfortunately not all are maxed out at this time. My response of this is, “Keep Calm & Carry on” the eventuality is that it will be completed, but I will be using this to perfect my gameplay with limited resources and eventually giving a worthy Community Member an opportunity to scholar it.

Going the Distance restricts you from using monsters other than ranged units. It is a very difficult ruleset to play with but most would consider using either units with close range (They can fire from first position) or units with return fire (reflecting the damage sustained back to the enemy). It can vary, however depending on the other rulesets. In Diamond League you have 3 Rule Sets and in this particular battle, the accompanying rules were Noxious Fumes (Poison takes effect every round) and Taking sides (No Neutral Monsters can be used).

As my cards were restricted to the set and to the Water Splinter, I prepared my cards for maximum Damage as opposed to a singular unit.

Summoner: kelya Frendul - This particular Summoner is very useful in low mana games, as it offers plus 1 Shield and Agility, making your units faster and more likely to tank the damage from ranged units.

1st position: Angelic Mandarin - Low cost card offering triage for back units and has 7 health. Although it would not be able to attack on first position, as this was a low mana game, it was likely that my opponent would have fewer monsters also and the damage would be restricted. I was lucky that he only placed a taunt monster as Damage was minimal.

2nd Position: Igor Darkspear - I had only wished that this was maxed out as it would have dealt 3 damage with the knock out ability. For 2 Mana, it is such a good card to have in your arsenal. It is important you have a knock out ability monster in low mana games which can be used to counter Scarred Llama and Last Stand.

3rd Position: Merdhampir - One of my favorite reward cards as it issues cripple to the opponent gradually lowering health (Also effecting units with last stand and cleanse and as well as this has life leech which gives this unit life whilst dealing damage.

This match was over within 3 rounds, and not a single unit was lost. They all played there roles well. With the addition of Noxious Fumes, the Wavebrood could not sustain the damage. Should you wish to see this battle, please click on the link below:
