Battle Mage Secrets - No Healing? No Problem!!

Hi there Splinterfam, today’s Battlemage Report revolves around the No Healing Ruleset. When I see this particular ruleset come up in Battles, I would usually think of lots of poison and High Agility Monsters. With the introduction of the Martyr Ability, this has become a thing of the past.

As many of you already know, my favorite Splinter is Life, this is due to the sustainability of monsters, the variety of healing and repair and more importantly the Resurrection Ability. For those of you that have played Magic the Gathering, Life (White) was all about protection and healing, with the introduction of Martyr, Life has just become that much better, mass DPS is coming.

In this particular battle, I replaced my go to taunt monster, Shield Bearer (From the Untamed Edition) with my newly leveled up Soul Bound card, Iziar (Level 3). Although not maxed out, it already has Void Shield, Taunt and Martyr. My thought process between this line up was to boost my 2 heavy DPS monsters through martyr and resurrection, which would improve my Monsters with plus 4 in attributes. I was surprised and doubting the survivability of my line up as my opponent went with Conqueror Jacek which gives his monsters Scattershot, as per Splintertools, his line up should have dominated my team however that was not the case. He had quite a few melee monsters that attacked Iziar as intended, causing the best outcome for my team.

Apart from 1 resurrect, the others had served their purpose and gave my lead monster Kralus and my secondary Jared Scar crazy damaged, which ate through my opponent’s team in a speedy fashion. I was able to sustain the damage as his units attacked the rear, as they had already served their initial purpose they became more like bullet shields.

I have been spending most of my time in WILD, I find it a more competitive environment and I have missed some of the cards that I had actually used in the beginning of my Splinterlands Journey. I have also found that it is more rewarding in terms of SPS per battle and because you are using a lot of the older editions, you receive a lot of bonuses to add on top. With SPS requirements in full effect, I feel that this change up will benefit those that have spent their time investing into the game, at first it seemed quite disappointing as SPS for wins seemed lower, however after a few days had past, I am in agreement that the juice is worth the squeeze if you had spent time preparing. It is positive to see so many people staking SPS as well as gradual rise in value, keep staking that SPS, it’s making a difference.

The game itself is evolving, new metas are forming and with the new abilities such as Martyr being introduced, Splinters that have been considered less effective in rule sets now have an even playing field. I hope that Splinterlands Continues to introduce new abilities and rulesets to keep Ranked entertaining. Soul Bound cards are a brilliant addition, whilst you can’t just buy it off the market, you may be waiting awhile to see them at their best, but even when they are not yet there, they are very effective.
