“It’s a New Dawn, It’s a New Day”! - In Preparation for Pastures Anew

Greetings from the Philippines, most of you may know me as an avid Splinterlands Player and one of the Founders of TeamPH. Whilst my posts are usually referring to strategy, gameplay or our Filipino Community Focused Organization, I have decided to share my personal Journeys also.

I am a British Filipino, now living in the Philippines since 2016, I am a business owner consisting of Apartments to rent, a convenience store and a Restaurant here in Calbayog, known as the Mango Lounge, which is very popular with the Expat Community especially for our selection of Burgers. Whilst I have not received training to become a chef, I enjoy cooking (Especially delicacies that I miss from the UK) and put together a menu based on my customer preferences both foreign and domestic. I have a good number of years in the hospitality sector which really assisted me when entering the service sector.

On a later post I will share some of my crazy creations which are a fraction of the price compared to Western Prices. That is the beauty of Asia, anything is possible.

Incoming!

I will be having my first baby in May 2024, it’s a boy! And his name is Noah. (It is just a coincidence that one of my favorite Soul Bound Cards in Splinterlands is also named “Noah the Just”, but feel as if it was always destined to be). I am very excited although life has already started transitioning for me, priorities change, I guess I am just growing up. I am 39 Years old and turning 40 in April this Year, I have committed to stop smoking and get healthier, and now with the baby on the way, even more so I have to stick to my commitments, I want to send the right message.

@mernmin and @leveluplifeph, Co – Founders of Team Philippines and my friends who live near me in Calbayog have been super supportive when receiving the news, I was given a really cool Baby Seat for my car (Hardly used) along with a stuffed toy (Given by @Leveluplifeph’s Daughter, who is also my God Child) and just today, @mernmin came the house with another gift.

I received a brand-new baby crib, I am not very “DIY” handy so @mernmin helped me to put it together, in fairness he did most of the hard work (As he’s just “That Guy”) I just tightened screws. The instructions were not very helpful, but we managed to put it together within a reasonable time. I Usually stay on the 2nd floor of the house (Mostly in my Office/Bedroom) but as my lady is 6/7 months in, I decided to move us downstairs in preparation. Whilst the room is still quite bare, it already has the essentials, just waiting on the A/C installation, a WIFI repeater and a Water Heater for the downstairs CR and then think we are good to go.

Knowing that I will be a father soon, makes me think of my parents, my father's death anniversary is on the 28th of this month and whilst it's already been a few years, I think of him often. I look for his advice, and in some ways, receive it through my own interpretations of his guidance. I had great parents growing up, and I hope that my partner and I will become just that as we begin our journey into parenthood.

I am thankful for my friends, they mean everything to me, whilst I do not ask they give freely. If the situations were reversed, I know in my heart that I would do the same, moral fiber is very important.
