Splinterlands Art Contest Week 215 -- Angel of Light.

What's up my people, how are you? I hope very well and welcome one more week to my artistic blog, today I want to present a very special work because I had a couple of weeks wanting to do it because I really liked the character; I had some time without drawing anything related to the theme of angels and this seemed a good time to resume that style of drawings with a new participation for the dynamics of #Splinterlands. This is the letter of (Angel of Light) and it is a drawing in which I worked since the end of last week and to which I put a lot of effort and love; I hope you like it a lot, and without further ado I leave you the process:

¿Qué pasa mi gente como están? Espero que muy muy bien y sean bienvenidos una semana más a mi blog artístico, el día de hoy les quiero presentar una obra muy especial ya que tenia par de semanas queriéndola hacer pues me gusto mucho el personaje; tenía tiempo sin dibujar nada relacionado al tema de los ángeles y este me pareció buen momento para retomar ese estilo de dibujos con una nueva participación para la dinámica de #Splinterlands. Se trata de la carta de (Angel of Light) y es un dibujo en el que trabaje desde finales de la semana pasada y al que le puse mucho esfuerzo y cariño; ojalá les guste muchísimo, y sin más les dejo el proceso:

The main idea for my drawing was obviously to create the angel as if she was suspended in the air flying in order to guide her khymian children from the heights, I wanted this character to have a very warm and reliable appearance since she would be a celestial entity; I drew everything with comic brushes to try to make the strokes and the shape of the character to be better established. The colors were from a medium color palette along with some tones that I always use like blues and oranges.

La idea principal para mi dibujo era obviamente la de crear al ángel como si estuviera suspendida en el aire volando para así guiar desde las alturas a sus hijos khymianos, quise que este personaje tuviera una apariencia muy muy cálida y confiable ya que a fin de cuentas se trataría de un ente celestial; dibuje todo con pinceles de comic para tratar de que los trazos y la forma del personaje quedaran mejor establecidos. Los colores fueron de una paleta de colores un poco media junto con algunos tonos que siempre utilizo como azules y naranjas.

I built up the volume in the skin in order to achieve the most realism possible for the character, then I softened a little to get a more feminine and delicate appearance more in line with what would be the Angel; this took me a long time and several brushes, but in the end I got what I wanted. Then I gave a little more warmth to the face with a little blush on the cheeks and nose of the character, and I also used warm tones like yellow for the eyes and pink salmon for the lips.

Fui construyendo el volumen en la piel de modo de lograr el mayor realismo posible para el personaje, luego fui suavizando un poco para conseguir una apariencia mas femenina y delicada mas acordes a los que seria el Ángel; esto me llevo buen rato y varios pinceles, pero al final logre lo que deseaba. Luego di un poco mas de calidez al rostro con un poco de rubor en las mejillas y nariz del personaje, y también usé tonos cálidos como el amarillo para los ojos y el Salmon rosado para los labios.

The next step in the process of painting my drawing was the creation of the attire she would wear (Angel of Light), I wanted to make a kind of robe or dress a bit similar to the one the character wears in the letter, but with slight changes; the first thing is that I made the sleeves a little more elongated and also the texture was a little rougher and I went a lot towards the yellowish pastels tones. Then I decided to paint the hair short, but with a lot of waves and somewhat crazy strands; something like a quite rebellious hair, I was creating lines of thin strokes and giving them the shape to the hairstyle with a lot of patience and care.

El siguiente paso en el proceso de pintado de mi dibujo fue el de la creación del atuendo que llevaría (Angel of Light), quise hacer una especie de bata o vestido un poco parecido al que lleva el personaje en la carta, pero con ligeros cambios; lo primero es que las mangas las hice un poco mas alargadas y tambien la textura la hice un poco mas rugosa y fui mucho hacia los tonos pastales amarillentos. Luego el cabello decidí pintarlo corto, pero con muchas ondas y mechones algo locos; algo así como un cabello bastante rebelde, fui creando líneas de trazos delgados y dándoles la forma al peinado con mucha paciencia y cuidado.

Then I painted some details like the gold bands on his arms, first I wanted to do only one but then I decided to paint it on both arms because I thought it would look much better; I was building the shape and texture in gold with great care and using some special effects for the glitter. Then the painting of the wings was a little easier to do, I have some experience in painting dark angles and in this case I just looked for warmer tones and tried to place well the depth and also the shadows of occlusion.

Pinte después algunos detalles como las bandas de oro en sus brazos, primero quise hacer una sola pero luego me anime a pintarla en ambos brazos pues me pareció que se vería mucho mejor; fui construyendo la forma y textura en oro con gran cuidado y usando algún que otro efecto especial de capa para los brillos. Luego el pintado de las alas fue un poco mas fácil de realizar, tengo algo de experiencia en pintado de angles oscuros y en este caso solo me dedique a buscar tonos mas cálidos y a tratar de ubicar bien la profundidad y también las sombras de oclusión.

Finally I created a very suitable background for my drawing, something like an open morning sky and with some clouds covering most of that sky, for this I used some rough brushes and somewhat irregular tips while blurring; I also added some lighting details coming from his left side to recreate the sun illumination on the character.

Finalmente cree un fondo muy adecuado para mi dibujo, algo así como de un cielo abierto de mañana y con algunas nubes cubriendo la mayor parte de ese cielo, para esto use algunos pinceles rugosos y de puntas algo irregulares mientras difuminaba; también agregue algunos detalles de iluminación viniendo desde su lado izquierdo para recrear la iluminación del sol sobre el personaje.
