Splinterlands Art Contest Week 271 -- River Hellondale ⚔
Very good afternoon my dear people lover of card games, I'm Manuel and as always I'm around here super happy to share with you a new drawing for my blog, today's is about a new participation for the weekly dynamic of #Splinterlands and I take this moment to thank you for having been considered for last week's selection, I fully appreciate the support🤗; and well the character I chose to draw this week in my style was the letter of (RIVER HELLONDALE), this letter is about a young man named River with a big heart, someone who since he was a child had the vocation and the spirit to help all those people who needed it, and over the years he was introduced in the world of elemental magic, plus when the arrival of the legion of chaos did not hesitate twice to take up arms and go out with his people to defend the city New Everitt:
Muy buenas tardes mi querida gente amante de los juegos de cartas, yo soy Manuel y como siempre estoy por aquí super feliz de compartirles un nuevo dibujo para mi blog, el de hoy se tratara de una nueva participación para la dinámica semanal de #Splinterlands y aprovecho el momento para agradecer por haber sido considerado para la selección de la semana pasada, aprecio full el apoyo🤗; y bueno el personaje que elegí para dibujar esta semana a mi estilo fue el de la carta de (RIVER HELLONDALE), esta carta trata sobre un joven llamado River de gran corazón, alguien que desde que era muy niño tuvo la vocación y el espíritu de ayudar a toda aquella gente que lo necesitara, y con el pasar de los años se fue introduciendo en el mundo de la magia elemental, además de que cuando ocurrió la llegada de la legión del caos no lo dudo 2 veces para tomar las armas y salir junto con los suyos a defender la ciudad Nueva Everitt:
In the case of my illustration for this card I decided to create the character in a semi-complete style, with his right hand slightly raised as if he planned to make use of his great magical powers while in the other one he wields his sword; I spent a long time looking in my color palette and finally I found this intermediate orange tone with which I started to work the skin in an ascending way, in the case of the shadows of the cheekbones, nose and others I used a flat tip brush at a very moderate opacity to be able to blend and blend later. In step 2 I painted the eyes of (RIVER), in this case I started with a dark gray base and with an airbrush I was giving a little light to the white part on the edges of the eyes, I repeated this step a couple of times because at first the base had been too dark for my taste hehehehehe; then with a small brush I created the iris of the eyes and for them I used a pasty green that I usually use to paint grass and vegetation in my other drawings, but I thought it would be suitable for the eyes of this character.
En el caso de mi ilustración para esta carta decidí crear al personaje a un estilo semicompleto, con su mano derecha levemente alzada como si planeara hacer uso de sus grandes poderes mágicos mientras en la otra empuña su espada; estuve buen rato buscando en mi paleta de colores y finalmente encontré este tono naranja intermedio con el cual empecé a trabajar la piel de manera ascendente, en el caso de las sombras de los pómulos, nariz y demás use un pincel de punta plana a una opacidad muy moderada para poder difuminar y mezclar luego. En el paso 2 realice el pintado de los ojos de (RIVER), en este caso empecé con una base grisácea oscura y con aerógrafo fui dándole un poco de iluminación a la parte blanca en los bordes de los ojos, este paso lo repetí un par de veces pues en un inicio la base había quedado demasiado oscura para mi gusto jejejeje; después con un pincel pequeño fui creando el iris de los ojos y para ellos use un verde pastoso que generalmente uso para pintar grama y vegetación en mis otros dibujos, pero que me pareció seria adecuado para los ojos de este personaje.
The painting of the clothing was a bit laborious I must admit since the character wears a suit of several garments, the first thing I did was to define well the texture of the shirt with grayish blue colors and quite firm strokes to achieve good shadows and folds in the clothes, then I was creating slight golden details on the edges which give a lot of elegance to this character; for the upper part of the clothes that would be a kind of tunic or cape if I had to make use of brushes like watercolor to try to make it look a little thicker than the shirt below, I applied a couple of coats of paint on the tunic and then with a small brush and the mode (shine) I gave a few high brightness in the area of the shoulders and arms.
El pintado de la vestimenta si fue un poco trabajoso debo reconocer puesto que el personaje lleva un traje de varias prendas, lo primero que hice fue definir bien la textura de la camisa con colores azules grisáceos y trazos bastante firmes para lograr buenas sombras y pliegues en la ropa, luego fui creando leves detalles dorados en los bordes los cuales le dan muchísima elegancia a este personaje; para la parte alta de la ropa que seria una especie de túnica o capa si tuve que hacer uso de pinceles como el acuarela para tratar de que se viera un poco mas gruesa que la camisa de abajo, aplique un par de capas de pintura en la túnica y luego con un pincel pequeño y el modo (shine) di unos cuantos brillos altos en la zona de los hombros y brazos.
The painting of the hair I did it taking my time, I wanted the hair to be a big hair super striking, for this I played a little with the yellow tones creating some relief, especially in the hair that falls in the area of the shoulders for example, and also in areas such as the fringe of the forehead and to the sides of the ears; finally to get a more voluminous hair I was creating many strands of hair from the middle of the head to the sides and also down with longer strokes. For the painting of the precious crystals on the chest of the character I used the same colors as for the sword, my idea was to give the impression that this crystal is extremely resistant and at the same time precious and expensive, here I basically dedicated myself first to give shape to the crystals with several soft shadows and then in a completely separate layer I painted the glitter on the tips of the crystals so that they would look much more realistic.
El pintado del cabello lo realicé tomándome mi tiempo, quería que el cabello fuese una gran melena super llamativa, para esto jugué un poco con los tonos amarillos creando cierto relieve, sobre todo en el cabello que cae en la zona de los hombros por ejemplo, y también en zonas como el cerquillo de la frente y hacia los lados de las orejas; finalmente para conseguir un pelo mas voluminoso fui creando muchos mechones de pelo desde la parte media de la cabeza hacia los lados y también hacia abajo con trazos mas largos. Para el pintado de los cristales preciosos en el pecho del personaje use los mismos colores que para la espada, mi idea era que diera la impresión que este cristal es sumamente resistente y a la vez preciado y costoso, aquí básicamente me dedique primero a darle forma a los cristales con varias sombras suaves y ya luego en una capa totalmente aparte pinte los brillos en las puntas de los cristales para que estos se notara mucho más realistas.
For the final part I based a little on the story of River's character and decided to paint a kind of lake or stream scenario where the character would be partially submerged to make use of his powers in the water; to paint the water I used soft colors and the watercolor brush with quite wavy strokes and creating a subtle effect of water movement around River, I also wanted to add some small rock formations behind him to complement a little. To give that last touch and essence to the character that he is really powerful what I did was to paint on the palm of his hand a great magical energy emerging from deep inside him with a kind of electric or turbulent aura around this energy; it also occurred to me that it would be a good idea to paint a similar bluish aura in the eyes and that's what I did to give the final touch.
Para la parte final me base un poco en la historia del personaje de River y decidí pintar una especie de escenario de lago o riachuelo donde el personaje se encontraría sumergido parcialmente para hacer uso de sus poderes dentro del agua; para pintar el agua use colores suaves y el pincel acuarela con trazos bastante ondulados y creando un sutil efecto de movimiento del agua alrededor de River, también quise agregar algunas pequeñas formaciones rocosa detrás de el para complementar un poco. Para darle ese ultimo toque y la esencia al personaje de que es realmente poderoso lo que hice fue pintar en la palma de su mano una gran energía mágica emergiendo de lo mas profundo de su ser con una especie de aura eléctrica o turbulenta alrededor de esta energía; también se me ocurrió que sería buena idea pintar un aura similar azulada en los ojos y eso fue lo que hice para dar el toque final.
