Splinterlands Art Contest Week 273 -- Naga Fire Wizard 🐍🔥

Very good afternoon my dearest art lover people, as many of you know my name is Manuel and I would like to welcome you once again to my art blog, this time I come to share my last participation for this year 2023 for the dynamics of the community of #Splinterlands, I am very happy how much I have advanced during this year in my illustrations about the game and also for the several times that I have been in the top of best drawings and I hope that this next year I can continue to improve even more. This time I decided to choose for my participation some of the characters that I like the most in the game as they are the Naga warriors, as they are full intimidating creatures, with incredible powers and quite complex designs which always challenge our imagination; such is the case of the card (Naga Fire Wizard), which are a kind of hybrid creatures between snake and human which have an unparalleled intelligence, are extremely skilled in combat with weapons, but above all are trained in the art of magic, more specifically in the manipulation and creation of the fire element:

Muy buenas tardes mi queridísima gente amante del arte, como muchas sabrán mi nombre en Manuel y me gustaría darles la bienvenida una vez mas a mi blog de arte, en esta ocasión les vengo a compartir mi ultima participación por este año 2023 para la dinámica de la comunidad de #Splinterlands, me alegra full lo mucho que he avanzado durante este año en mis ilustraciones sobre el juego y también por las varias ocasiones que he quedado en el top de mejores dibujos y espero que este próximo año pueda seguir mejorando aún más. En esta oportunidad decidí elegir para mi participación unos de los personajes que mas me gustan del juego como lo son las guerreras Naga, ya que son criaturas full intimidantes, con poderes increíbles y diseños bastante complejos los cuales siempre retan mucho nuestra imaginación; tal es el caso de la carta de (Naga Fire Wizard), las cuales son una especie de criaturas hibridas entre serpiente y humana las cuales poseen una inteligencia sin igual, son extremadamente habilidosa en combate con armas, pero sobre todo están entrenadas en el arte de la magia, más específicamente en la manipulación y creación del elemento fuego:

PROCESS / PROCESO

The structure to start with my illustration I looked for something that would transmit an intimidating and powerful essence for the character, what I did was to draw him (Naga Fire Wizard) in a pose like crossed arms while he raises one of his big claws as if he was preparing to emanate a big flame from the palm of his hand; with the lineart finished the next thing was to find the right colors in my color palette, for the skin for example I decided to use a watermelon red as a base tone, to give a little volume and shape to the skin I based entirely on the use of the watercolor brush to then be able to mix much better. Once I finished with the base of the skin the next thing I did was to try to recreate as best as possible the appearance of snake on the belly of the character, for this I used a few more light pink tones and a little soft Salmon to differentiate a little the different parts of the skin; then I painted what would be the eyes and my intention here was to try to make them look as dark and intimidating as possible, that is why I chose to work with a dark gray base and right in the middle I shaped the snake eyes in intense yellow tone.

La estructura para empezar con mi ilustración busqué que fuese algo que transmitiera una esencia intimidante y potente para el personaje, lo que hice fue dibujar a (Naga Fire Wizard) en una pose como de brazos cruzados mientas levanta una de sus grandes garras como si se preparase para emanar una gran flama de la palma de su mano; ya con el lineart terminado lo siguiente fue ir encontrando los colores adecuados en mi paleta de colores, para la piel por ejemplo me anime a usar un rojo sandia como tono base, para darle un poco de volumen y forma a la piel me base enteramente en el uso del pincel acuarela para luego poder mezclar mucho mejor. Una vez termine con la base de la piel lo siguiente que hice fue tratar de recrear lo mejor posible la apariencia de serpiente en el vientre del personaje, para esto use unos tonos mas rosados claros y un poco de Salmon suave para diferenciar un poco las diferentes partes de la piel; posteriormente pinte lo que serian los ojos y mi intensión aquí fue tratar de que se viesen lo más tétricos e intimidantes posibles, es por ello que opte por trabajar con una base gris oscuro y justo en el medio di forma a los ojos de víbora en tonalidad amarillo intenso.

In the case of the clothing I didn't have many complications, for the torso part I created a kind of blouse or nightgown in an apple green tone, my idea here is that this garment looks as if it was made of silk or a very similar smooth fabric; then for the forearms I decided to create some kind of leather-like sleeves with which the character can easily defend himself from attacks and wounds with weapons. For the lower part of the torso I focused on creating mostly gold details to make the character look much more elegant and striking, I created a thick pure gold belt and right in the center of the belt I painted some diamonds or violet gemstones.

En el caso de la vestimenta no tuve muchas complicaciones, para la parte del torso cree una especie de blusa o camisón en tonalidad verde manzana, mi idea aquí es que esta prenda se viese como si estuviese hecha de seda o una tela lisa muy similar; luego para los antebrazos decidí crear unas especies de mangas como de cuero con las cuales el personaje fácilmente puede defenderse de ataques y heridas con armas. Para la parte de abajo del torso me enfoque en crear más que todo detalles en oro para hacer ver al personaje mucho mas elegante y llamativo, cree un cinturón de oro puro grueso y justo en el centro del cinturón pinte algunas diamantes o piedras preciosas de color violeta.

The painting of the hair was something to which I dedicated its section and specific folder, the first thing was to find a shade of green that I liked, but at the same time was very similar to the character on the card, fortunately I had a jade green which I applied with soft and elongated strokes to create a very natural hair; then with one of my open bristle brushes I textured a little and gave some relief to the hair before finishing with the last touches of volume so the hair did not look flat and inanimate. For the crown or tiara that the character wears on her head I worked with the same technique as with the waist and neck accessories, first I created a nice solid gold base and then I added a few glitters on the edges and tips of the tiara; additionally I also painted a purple gem right in the center of the tiara as I had done before.

El pintado del cabello fue algo a lo que le dedique su apartado y carpeta especifica, lo primero fue buscar un tono de verde que me gustara, pero que al mismo tiempo se asemejara mucho al del personaje en la carta, afortunadamente tenía un verde jade el cual aplique con trazos suaves y alargados para crear un cabello muy natural; luego con uno de mis pinceles de cerdas abiertas texturice un poco y di algo de relieve al pelo antes de culminar con los últimos toques de volumen para que el pelo no se viese plano e inanimado. Para la corona o tiara que lleva el personaje sobre su cabeza trabaje con la misma técnica que con los accesorios de la cintura y cuello, primero cree una buena base de oro solido y luego agregue unos cuantos brillos en los bordes y puntas de la tiara; adicional también pinte una gema violeta justo en el centro de la tiara tal cual como había hecho anteriormente.

To create the magic fire emanating from the hands/claws of the character I had to work a lot, the first thing was to create in the left hand small flames in soft orange color and in the right hand I created a big flame, to give the fire the right shape I started from outside to inside with orange tones lighter and lighter until I reached the core of the fire where I used 2 tones of very light yellow: an important part for the fire to take a more realistic appearance is to subtly blur all the edges of the flame to just at the end add a soft layer of intense orange color which makes denote a little the effect of heat produced by the fire. To complement my work with a good background what occurred to me was to paint a kind of dark subway crypt where the Naga warriors live, for this I painted in the background some walls with an ancient appearance in brown color, and I finished everything with a couple of layers of shadows and lights.

Para crear el fuego mágico emanando de las manos/garras del personaje tuve que trabajar mucho, lo primero fue crear en la mano izquierda pequeñas flamas en color naranja suave y en la mano derecha si cree una gran llamarada, para darle la forma adecuada el fuego empecé de afuera hacia adentro con tonos naranja cada vez más claro hasta llegar al núcleo del fuego donde use 2 tonos de amarillo muy claros: una parte importante para que el fuego toma una apariencia mas realista es que se debe difuminar sutilmente todos los bordes de la flama para justo al final agregar una suave capa de color naranja intenso la cual haga denotar un poco el efecto de calor que produce el fuego. Para complementar mi obra con un buen fondo lo que se me ocurrió fue pintar una especie de cripta subterránea oscura donde las guerreras Naga habitan, para esto pinte en el fondo unas paredes con apariencia antigua en color marrón, y culmine todo con un par de capas de sombras y luces.
