Splinterlands Art Contest Week 307 | Contessa L'ament ☠

Hello my dear readers, happy navel of the week to all of you and I hope you are feeling great, this time I am here once again to share with you a new work for my art blog related to the great card game #Splinterlands that surely many of you already know. This time I wanted to choose a character from the game that was related to magic, but at the same time I had not drawn previously, and in my search I came across this interesting card called (Contessa L'ament), which is about a powerful witch famous for her amazing mastery of dark magic and her creepy appearance; she also has a frightening and harsh voice which she uses to control her monsters and many of the most powerful creatures ever seen:

Hola mis queridísimos lectores y lectoras, feliz ombligo de semana para todos y espero que se encuentren super bien, en esta oportunidad me encuentro por aquí una vez más para compartirles una nueva obra para mi blog de arte relacionada con el genial juego de cartas #Splinterlands que seguramente muchos de ustedes ya conocerán. En esta ocasión quise elegir un personaje del juego que estuviese relacionado con la magia, pero que al mismo tiempo tampoco hubiese dibujado previamente, y en mi búsqueda me tope con esta interesante carta llamada (Contessa L'ament), la cual trata de una poderosa bruja famosa por su asombroso dominio de la magia oscura y su apariencia escalofriante; ella además posee una espantosa y áspera voz la cual utiliza para controlar a sus monstruos y muchas de las más poderosas criaturas jamás antes vistas:

I decided to start my sketch letting my inspiration guide me, as this is a character with many bone and skull details, I tried to have them all very present in her hands, that's why I chose to draw (Contessa L'ament) holding a skull of some creature in her left hand, while with the other she is removing the mask which covers her face. For the skin I decided to start with some saturated tones, that's why I chose a peach tone combined with some brown tones, and thanks to my airbrush I could gradually build a soft texture for her face, arms and other visible parts; later for her lips I used some purple tones that I also liked, and some watery blue tones for the eyes.

Decidí empezar mi boceto dejando que mi inspiración fuese la que me guiase, como este es un personaje con muchos detalles de hueso y calavera pues trate de que todos estuviesen muy presentes en sus manos, es por ello que opte por dibujar a (Contessa L'ament) sosteniendo un cráneo de alguna criatura en su mano izquierda, mientras con la otra se va quitando la marcara la cual cubre su rostro. Para la piel decidí empezar con alguna tonalidad un poco saturada, es por eso que me decante por un tono durazno combinado con algunos tonos marrones, y agracias a mi pincel aerógrafo pude poco a poco pude ir construyendo una textura suave para su rostro, brazos y demás parte visibles; posteriormente para sus labios use unos tonos morados que me gustaran también, y algunos tonos azules acuosos para el pintado de los ojos.

In the 2nd part of the painting process I dedicated myself to build the clothes (Contessa L'ament), this was something quite easy for me since I had some dark shades very similar to those of the character in his letter, so I just had to apply my style and some brushes of the ones I like the most, in the case of the pants I opted for some reddish tones trying to resemble a rigid fabric texture; then for the upper part of the garment I used purple tones in an ascending way so that little by little it would look like a long trench coat but without sleeves.

En la 2da parte del proceso de pintado me dedique a construir la ropa (Contessa L'ament), esto fue algo bastante fácil para mí ya que tenía algunas tonalidades oscuras muy similares a las del personaje en su carta, así que solo tuve que aplicar mi estilo y algunos pinceles de los que mas me gustan, en el caso del pantalón opte por algunas tonalidades rojizas tratando de asemejar mucho a una textura de tela rígida; luego para la parte superior que la mayor parte de la vestimenta use tonos morados de manera ascendente para que poco a poco se fuese viendo como una gabardina larga pero sin mangas.

For the painting of the hair I used some electric blue tones, in the letter the character of (Contessa L'ament) is not appreciated so much by the marking, but as here I had the idea that she was taking it off, then I had to work a little more the hair and give it a better relief and volume to the sides with some loose strands on the forehead. In the case of the skull I wanted it to look as if it was made from the skull of a bird, so both for her and for the skull of her other hand I used many yellow tones, soft browns and a little white not so pure to resemble as best as possible the texture of smooth bones, but at the same time with some irregular details to give that necessary realism.

Para el pintado del cabello use algunos tonos azules eléctricos, en la carta el personaje de (Contessa L'ament) no se logra apreciar tanto por la marcada, paro como aquí yo tenía la idea de que se la estuviese quitando pues entonces tuve que trabajar un poco más el pelo y darle un mejor relieve y volumen hacia los lados con algunos mechones sueltos en la frente. En el caso de la marcara quise que esta se viese como si estuviese hecha del cráneo de algún ave, así que tanto para ella como para la calavera de su otra mano use muchos tonos amarillos, marrones suaves y un poco de blanco no tan puro para asemejar lo mejor posible la textura de huesos liso, pero al mismo tiempo con ciertos detalles irregulares que dieran ese realismo necesario.

For the creation of the scenery I spent a long time thinking about what could complement my illustration well, first I thought about a forest, but lately I've been drawing a lot about that and I wanted to try something else, so what I came up with was to create a kind of stream or pond of water covered by a small circle of rocks and mountains with (Contessa L'ament) right in the center performing some kind of haunting; basically I wanted the water in this pond to look quite particular, and that's why I decided to give it a bright orange hue with a little rippling effect. The creation of the mountains in the background was done with some brown tones and I complemented even more the background with some clouds there in the distance; and at the end to finish everything I created a couple of layers in (shine) mode and with blue tones I illuminated the tattoos of his arms, and with reddish tones I illuminated the eyes of the character and also the skull in his hand.

Para la creación del escenario estuve un buen rato pensando que podría complementar bien mi ilustración, primero pensé en un bosque, pero últimamente he estado dibujado mucho acerca de eso y ya quería probar otra cosa, entonces lo que se me ocurrió fue crear una especie de arroyo o estanque de agua cubierto por un pequeño circulo de rocas y montañas con (Contessa L'ament) justo en el centro llevando a cabo algún tipo de embrujo; básicamente quería que el agua de este estanque se viese bastante particular, y fue por eso que decidí darle una tonalidad naranja brillante con un pequeño efecto de movimiento ondulatorio. La creación de las montañas en el fondo lo realice con algunos tonos marrones y complemente aun mas el background con algunas nubes allá en la lejanía; ya al final para culminar todo cree un par de capas en modo (shine) y con tonos azules ilumine los tatuajes de sus brazos, y con tonos rojizos ilumine los ojos del personaje y también de la calavera en su mano.
