Splinterlands Art Contest Week 376 | Pirate of Eight 🏴‍☠️

Good morning, my dear readers and members of the #Hive community. Happy Tuesday to everyone who is here reading me today. Your friend Manuel here is very happy to share a new artistic post for my blog with you. This time, I bring you my most recent contribution to this week's activity from my dear friends in the #Splinterlands community, in which we would choose one of the cards from their game to create an illustration in our own style. This time I decided to go with the pirate character theme, which is why I chose this card called (Pirate of Eight), which is a commander of one of the largest fleets in Praetoria. These pirates can be found in practically every port, where they take whatever they want from the docked ships before heading to the local taverns for a bit of fun, terrorizing the locals... I hope you like my idea, and here I'll show you a little bit of the process of how I made this drawing:

Muy buenos días mis queridos lectores y lectoras de la comunidad de #Hive, feliz martes para todos los que se encuentran por aquí leyéndome el día de hoy, por aquí los saluda su amigo Manuel super feliz de poder compartirles un nuevo post artístico para mi blog. En esta ocasión les traigo mi mas reciente participación para la dinámica de esta semana de mis queridos amigos de la comunidad de #Splinterlands, en la cual elegiríamos a una de las carta de su juego para realizar una ilustración a nuestro propio estilo; esta vez decidí irme hacia la temática de los personajes piratas, es por ello que escogí esta carta llamada (Pirate of Eight), la cual es una comandante una de las mas grandes flotas que existen en Praetoria, estos piratas se encuentran en prácticamente todos los puertos, donde toman lo que quieren de los barcos atracados antes de dirigirse a las tabernas locales por un poco de diversión, siendo el terror para los lugareños…espero les guste mi idea, y aquí les mostrare un poco del proceso de como hice este dibujo:

Well, to begin with, I decided to give the main character in the letter a little structure. In this case, I opted for a slightly more battle-like pose, in which the female pirate was raising and wielding her large sword in a threatening manner. Once I had more or less defined my idea in outline, I moved on to the next step, which was coloring. In this case, I began to work on the skin with slightly sandier and yellower tones. As usual, I like to use only my airbrush brush and watercolor to achieve a softer and more realistic texture for the skin.

Bueno, para empezar, me propuse darle un poco de estructura al personaje principal de la carta, en este caso opté por una pose un poco mas como de batalla, en la cual la mujer pirata estuviese alzando y blandiendo su gran espada de manera amenazante. Una vez logre definir mas o menos mi idea en trazo pase al siguiente paso, es decir el coloreado, en este caso comencé a trabajar la piel con tonos un poco mas arenosos y amarillentos, como es de costumbre en esta parte me gusta usar solo mi pincel de aerógrafo y la acuarela para lograr una textura mas suave y realista para la piel.

Then, for the eyes, I wanted to use some shades that I already had in my color palette. For the base, I used a fairly light green for the basic shape of the eyes, then with slightly kiwi-colored shades, I created the fixed gaze by working on the iris and pupils. For the mouth, I tried to maintain a serious, cold, and expressionless look. For the clothing, I worked in several sections and layers. For the first layer, I used grayish purples and yellows for the basic garments, i.e., the pants and blouse. Here, I tried to give a slightly rougher texture, but without too many folds or wrinkles. then use blue tones to create a kind of large belt, and for the torso, use violets to create the pirate jacket worn by the main character in the card.

Después para el apartado de los ojos quise usar unos tonos que ya tenia en mi paleta de colores, para la base use un verde más o menos claro para la forma básica de los ojos, luego con tonos un poco mas kiwi cree la mirada fija trabajando el iris y las pupilas; en el caso de la boca trate de mantener una expresión seria, fría e inexpresiva. Para el trabajo de la ropa trabaje en varias secciones y capas, en una primera capa use morados grisáceos y amarillos para las prendas básicas, es decir para los pantalones y la blusa, aquí trate de dar una textura un poco mas rugosa, pero sin demasiados pliegues o arrugas; luego con tonos azules cree una especie de cinturón de gran tamaña, y para el torso use violetas para crear la chaqueta pirata que porta el personaje principal de la carta.

For the hair, try to create a dreadlock-like hairstyle using dark brown and red tones. Here, I worked on the texture more with my watercolor brush and my 3-point bristle brush, so that the texture and relief would be much more noticeable. Then, on top of his head, I created what would be a classic pirate bandana with pink and fuchsia tones. Here, I only used watercolor and kept a single style of strokes. Finally, I got to the creation of the sword. Here, I worked with gray tones to shape the sharp blade, and with yellows and oranges for the golden details. On the blade, I used my square-tipped brush to achieve the metallic texture, but also the glints on the edges that represent the sharpness of the weapon at the top.

Con respecto al cabello trate de construir un peinado con apariencia como de rastas, para ello use tonos marrones y rojos oscuros, aquí la textura la trabaje más con mi pincel de acuarela y mi pincel de cerdas de 3 puntas, de modo que la textura y el relieve se notaran mucho mejor. Luego sobre su cabeza cree lo que sería una clásica pañoleta de pirata con tonos rosados y fucsias, aquí solo use la acuarela y mantuve un solo estilo de trazos. Finalmente llegue a lo que sería la creación de la espada, aquí trabaje con tonos grises para darle forma a la hoja afilada, y con amarillos y naranjas para los detalles dorados, en el cao de la hoja use mi pincel de punta cuadrada para logra la textura metálica en la hoja, pero también los brillos en los bores que representaran el filo del arma en la parte superior.
