Splinterlands Art Contest Week 377 | Chaos Knight 🪓

Good morning, my dear friends at #Hive! Happy Tuesday, and happy second-to-last day of 2025! Your friend Manuel here, super happy to share a new artistic post for my blog with you. On this new occasion, I bring you what would be my most recent entry for the weekly dynamic of my dear friends from the #Splinterlands community, where every week they invite us to illustrate characters and creatures from their game, but in our own style. My representation today is about the card (Chaos Knight), which, as its name suggests, is a fervent warrior who is part of the Knights of Chaos. They are in charge of commanding the front line of the invading forces of the Chaos Legion. They are extremely fierce and reckless warriors, They are usually heavily armored and wield enormous battle axes capable of taking down even the most powerful enemies:

Muy buenos días mi querida gente de #Hive, feliz martes, y feliz penúltimo día de este año 2025, por aquí los saluda una vez mas su amigo Manuel, super feliz de poder compartirles un nuevo post artístico para mi blog. En esta nueva ocasión les traigo lo que seria mi mas reciente entrada para la dinámica semanal de mis queridos amigos de la comunidad de #Splinterlands, donde cada semana nos invitan a ilustrar personajes y criaturas de su juego, pero a nuestro propio estilo. Mi representación del día de hoy trata sobre la carta de (Chaos Knight), la cual como su mismo nombre nos lo indica se trata de una ferviente guerrera la cual forma parte de los caballeros del Caos, se encargan de comandar la primera línea de las fuerzas invasoras de la Legión del Caos, son guerreros sumamente fieros y temerarios, por lo general suelen estar fuertemente blindados y empuñan enormes hachas de combate capaces de derribar incluso a los enemigos más poderosos:

In this case, I decided to start my illustration by adopting a pose for the main character. Basically, I wanted Chaos Knight to be in a kind of battle pose, wielding or swinging her large axe above her head, as if she were leading the troops behind her to launch an attack. For the coloring of this Chaos Knight character, I decided to start with a color palette consisting of intense brown tones to achieve a fairly tanned or dark skin tone. At this stage, I always like to use only my airbrush and watercolor brushes to achieve a much smoother and more stylized skin texture.

En este caso decidí empezar mi ilustración adoptando una pose para el personaje principal, básicamente quise que la (Chaos Knight) se encontrase como en una especie de pose de batalla, blandiendo o balanceando su gran hacha por encima de su cabeza, como si estuviera guiando a las tropas detrás de ella a que iniciaran con el ataque. Para el trabajo de coloreado de este personaje de (Chaos Knight) decidí empezar con una paleta de colores conformada por tonos marrones intensos, esto para así lograr una tonalidad de piel bastante bronceada o morena, en esta etapa siempre me gusta usar solamente mi pincel de aerógrafo y el de acuarela para así conseguir una textura de piel mucho más suave y estilizada.

For the eyes, I used light brown and orange tones to achieve a warm and striking look. For this part, I like to use small brushes to add detail to the iris and pupil, as well as the characteristic sparkle around the edges of the eyes. The construction of the Chaos Knight's clothing or costume took me a little longer, and I had to work in several layers. In the first layer, I created what would be the basic fabric suit with purple tones and my airbrush brush. Then, for the armor and other rigid areas, I used a slightly darker purple and my watercolor brush to achieve a good rough, metallic texture. On the chest area of the suit, I played around a bit more with white and gold tones, as well as on the forearms, neck, and shoulder pads, to give the armor a slightly more elegant look.

Para el trabajo de los ojos use tonos marrones claros y naranjas para lograr una mirada bastante cálida y llamativa, en esta parte me gusta usar pinceles pequeños para lograr detalles en el iris, la pupila, así como los brillos característicos que tienen los ojos en los bordes. La construcción de la vestimenta o indumentaria de la (Chaos Knight) si me tomo un poco mas de tiempo y tuve que trabajar en varias capas, en la 1ra capa cree lo que sería el traje básico de tela con tonos purpura y mi pincel aerógrafo. Luego para la armadura y demás zonas rígidas usé morado un poco más oscuro y mi pincel de acuarela para lograr un buen trabajo de textura rugosa y metálica; en la zona del pecho del traje jugué un poco más con los tonos blancos y dorados, así como en los antebrazos, cuello y hombreras, esto para imprimir detalles un poco más elegantes a la armadura.

For the hair, I used brown and yellow tones. This part was quite fun because the original structure of this character's hair is quite messy, so I just played around with the strokes and let my inspiration build the hairstyle in a more natural way. To create the large axe carried by all the Chaos Knights, I used gray and light blue tones to work on the metal, then scaled the grays to form what would be the edges of the axe, as well as the characteristic reflections of the metal. In addition to the metallic texture, I also added a certain solid gold texture to the sides of the axe. Finally, I set the entire background as if it were a nighttime battle scene in an open field. To do this, I darkened the sky a little, created some clouds, and as a finishing touch, I created some shadows to represent the creatures and subordinates commanded by the Chaos Knights.

Para el cabello use tonos marrones y amarillos, esta parte fue bastante divertida ya que la estructura original del pelo de este personaje es bastante desordenada, así que solo jugué con los trazos y deje que mi inspiración construyera el peinado de manera mas natural. Para la creación de la gran hacha que llevan todos los (Chaos Knight) use tonos grises y azules claros para trabajar el metal, luego escalando los grises forme lo que serian los filos en los bordes del hacha, así como los reflejos característicos del metal; adicional a la textura metálica también agregue cierta textura como de oro solido a los lados del hacha. Al final ambiente todo el fondo como si se tratase de un escenario de batalla nocturno a campo abierto, para esto oscurecí un poco el cielo, cree algunas nubes, y como toque final cree algunas sombras que representaran a las criaturas y subordinados comandados por los (Chaos Knight).
