Splinterlands Art Contest // Week 218 // Djinn Renova [ENG-ESP]

One of my favorite characters from the Life deck is Djinn Renova.
Even though she's a djinn, I decided to make her with legs, preparing her magic to protect "Mount Praetorus", which is seen in the background.

The process was as follows:

1. Sketch and references
I was clear about the posture I wanted to represent, so I looked for some references and ended up doing something that I don't usually do: a collage, to compose the figure. Interesting and effective.

2. Base color - First layer
In this case, I treated the illustration as a painting, something that I don't usually do digitally. But I got carried away and then I was correcting, improving the posture and proportions, by layers. One on top of the other.

3. Background
For the background it was also clear to me that I wanted a mountainous landscape (with peaks) with a lake behind. Without references, I decided to let myself go with the colors and textures.

4. Highlights and shadows
Then it remained to place highlights and shadows, correct some details and prepare everything to animate it later.

5. Animation
For the animated video I decided to create a 10 second loop while Djinn Renova throws a "magic ball" towards the front, with a lot of movement and some additional effect for more impact when she casts magic with her hands.

Uno de mis personajes preferidos del mazo de Vida es Djinn Renova.
Que si bien se trata de un genio, decidí hacerla con piernas, preparando su magia para proteger el "Monte Praetorus", que se ve de fondo.

El proceso fue el siguiente:

1. Boceto y referencias
Tenía en claro la postura que quería representar, así que busqué algunas referencias y terminé haciendo algo que no acostumbro: un collage para formar la figura. Interesante y efectivo.

2. Color base - Primera capa
En este caso, traté la ilustración como una pintura, algo que no acostumbro a hacer en digital. Pero me dejé llevar y fui corrigiendo, mejorando la postura y proporciones, por capas. Una encima de la otra.

3. Fondo
Para el fondo también tenía claro que quería un paisaje montañoso (con picos) con un lago detrás. Sin referencias, decidí por dejarme llevar con los colores y texturas.

4. Brillos y sombras
Luego restaba colocar brillos y sombras, corregir algunos detalles y dejar todo listo para animarlo posteriormente.

5. Animación
Para el video animado decidí crear un loop de 10 segundos mientras Djinn Renova lanza una "bola mágica" hacia el frente, con bastante movimiento y algún efecto adicional para mayor impacto al lanzar magia con sus manos.
