Road to Runi - Update 11 | Splinterlands #316

As the year is ending, the weeks seem to be flying by faster and faster and it feels like it was yesterday that the Rebellion set pre-sale went live. We had another Town Hall this week and got more insight into the game’s future and the company.

It is fair to say that the Rebellion set pre-sale has been a success. Yabbapmatt was pleasantly surprised and showed the community's strong commitment and support in continuing to grow the splinterlands game for the long term. At the current time of writing, just over 280000 packs have been sold (including bonus packs) and the leaderboard is starting to heat up. As I predicted in last week’s update, the sales have decreased/plateaued this past week but I do expect there to be an uptick as we reach the end of the days (or earlier depending on whether the packs have sold out).

In other big news from the Town Hall, we may have finally gotten a date for the Land 1.5 release. The splinterlands team reassured the community in the Town Hall that the Land 1.5 release hasn’t been forgotten in amongst all the fanfare for the Rebellion set pre-sale. The goal is to release Land 1.5 in November, ideally before Thanksgiving or shortly after.

There were many other topics discussed in the Town Hall so I highly recommend watching it and catching up. However, this is the first time in a while I have felt positive again about the direction of the splinterlands game and ecosystem. The success of the Rebellion set pre-sale so far (which helps the splinterlands company have an extra bit of runway), a firm date on the Land 1.5 release, more transparent discussions about the tokenomics of the splinterlands ecosystem (DEC + SPS flywheel), a re-prioritization of splinterlands dev which has resulted in Soulkeep being shelved until Rebellion set and the Land 1.5 release is live. It is still early days, but so far, I like the new direction of splinterlands under the leadership of Yabbapmatt.

Runi Fund

In amongst all the excitement of the Rebellion set pre-sale, we saw the price of DEC decrease slightly to $0.926 per 1k DEC. After a parabolic movement in which DEC climbed from $0.67 to $0.94 per 1k DEC, it is perfectly normal to see a sideways trend in the price which is a horizontal price movement when the forces of supply and demand are equal. The question on everyone’s mind is what will happen to the DEC price when the Land 1.5 release goes live. In theory, the price should continue to rise to its $1 peg.

This past week I added no DEC to the Runi fund and with the price decrease of DEC, the fund is sitting at just under $330. So overall in an advantageous position and will continue to build the fund until I have $500 in it.

Runi Market

If you have been living under a rock the past week, we saw a mini crypto bull revival with BTC breaking past $35000 and then retracing to $34000 where it’s been ranging. It feels like an age where there has been a renewed sense of optimism in crypto markets. ETH also saw the same pump in price with it reaching a high of $1860 and now ranging in the $1800 price.

When I was researching and writing this update, I was wondering how the fluctuations in ETH would affect the price of Runis. In theory, I would expect the ETH floor price to decrease as NFT owners can sell their Runi for a lower ETH price, as the price of ETH has increased in USD value. The theory was correct, with another new floor price set, 0.23 ETH ($418.17) for the Runi and another new record for the lowest floor price since I started this challenge.

The sales activity for Runis in the past week decreased by 25%. The sales range fluctuated between 0.2701 ETH ($434.58) and 0.367 ETH ($659.03).
