Speed & Backfire kills Yodin Gold Foil team in Splinterlands NFT Battle.

Speed and Backfire provides a seven times Backfire and a sweet victory over a nasty-looking, Snipe-focused Gold-Foil team led by Yodin Zaku.

Yodin Zaku is an arch-enemy of mine, one that I take particular pride in killing.
Today I build a Speed/Backfire team in this 27 mana Splinterlands battle, and it completely ripped apart the opposition.

As you can see from my line-up, I have two +speed cards and two +Backfire cards, giving me a speed around six to eight - a must-have for backfire to work.

Obviously, "Quix the Devious" also provides a minus to enemy speed, making the difference even more outspoken.

I did sacrifice my Fiend - the zero-mana card - but apart from that, Yodin's team simply could not his anything of significance. What a great way to start the day.

You can watch the entire battle here. Do not worry, it does not take long ;-)
Yodin killed by Speed & Backfire

I hope you enjoyed this battle. It serves as an inspiration for strategies for players to counter opponents that seem otherwise very tough to handle.

A new player here - what do you mean by zero mana card? and how does speed work? I am trying to strategize with good health cards but always ends on the losing side. What else should one plan for to win battles?

All cards require an amount of mana, so mana restrictions are a limiting factor for card choices in each battle. Hence the use of zero-mana cards gives you an extra card for no expense (mana wise).
Famously the Furious Chicken has been the sole card in the game at zero mana, but with the new Chaos Legion edition, you can now make use of a zero mana card in every splinter. These five cards are all called something+Fiend. These cards are magnificent, and should be mandatory in your collection :-)
Have fun with your new game. Invest slowly and over time!

Thank you for the info. I am at the bottom of the league and still trying to figure out strategy for my battles. I know the basic level may not require detailed analysis but a novice players like me do not even understand the basics. As I mentioned, I did not know about the zero mana cards.
