Cheap Cards Suitable for Alpha Edition Replacement - SABRE SHARK V/S PELACOR BANDIT

avatar

Hello all friends...

@splinterlands is a game which is a classic example in play2earn segment. In last one year time the game has expended exponentially and the player base has increased like anything.

If you are already playing the game then you already know that the game has different edition of cards. If you are new the let me explain in short about the different edition of cards.
When the game started the developers introduced fist set of the Packs which are known as Alpha Packs and the cards form the pack opening are known as the Alpha edition cards.
Those Alpha packs has limited supply, and each pack contains the 5 no of random cards. In this way the Alpha Edition cards also has a limited supply. So once the Alpha Editions Packs were sold out the team has introduce the new set of packs - Beta Pack. The cards were similar to the Alpha cards (name, stats and abilities) but the main difference is the number of cards required for the level up the card. The market value of Beta cards is also less then the Alpha cards as the Burn Value and the Collection Power of Beta cards is also less then the Alpha Cards. And so on the different Editions of the cards were launched on time to time.
Every edition has cards with the lower burn value and collection power then the previous edition cards.
Hope the edition part is clear if you were not aware of same (I am sure you all already now).
So value wise the Alpha cards are the costlier then other edition cards and the pattern is common for other edition cards also.

In general the earlier edition cards are costlier then the new edition card. So I tried to find some new edition cards which has similar abilities and stats but belong to the newly released edition. Lets check how they are cost effective also.

SABRE SHARK V/S PELACOR BANDIT

Sabre Shark and Pelacor Bandit both the cards are thee mana cards and has sneak ability. Both are from Water Splinter.

Pelacor Bandit belongs to the reward edition (CP equivalent to CL edition) and the Sabre Shark belongs to the Aplha/Beta Edition, but we are comparing the beta edition card.
Both the card has common rarity and has melee attack.

Lets compare the Stats of both the cards.
At level one Sabre Shark and Pelacor Bandit has almost similar stats but the Pelacor Bandit has one step ahead with the additional flying ability. The Sabre Shark has 3xCP.
Till level 4 the Sabre Shark has one additional attack. At level 4 again both the cards are almost equal (Pelacor Bandit has additional flying ability).
From level 5 onwards Sabre Shark has one additional attack but at level 7 again both the cards are almost equal (Pelacor Bandit has additional flying ability).
At level 9 Sabre Shark has one additional attack but at level 8 again both the cards are almost equal (Pelacor Bandit has additional flying ability).

Conclusion - Both the cards almost equal stats but Pelacor Bandit has additional flying ability

Cost Effectiveness

Sabre Shark belongs to the Beta edition so its very clear it must be costlier then the Pelacor Bandit. At present the 1 BCX of Sabre Shark costs $1.3 and Pelacor Bandit costs only $0.012 (lowest price for both per BCX). Pelacor Bandit is 1000x cheaper then the Sabre Shark, which is huge.

Lets check for level 4 card. To upgrade the Sabre Shark to level 4, required 12 BCX which means it will cost 12*1.3= 15.6 and will add 180 CP.

To upgrade the Pelacor Bandit to level 4 required 30 BCX which means it will cost 30*0.012= 0.36 and will add 150 CP.

Lets check for level 4 card for Gold Foil. To upgrade the Sabre Shark to level 4, required 1 BCX which means it will cost 1*30= $30 and will add 750 CP.

To upgrade the Pelacor Bandit to level 4 required 2 BCX which means it will cost 2*0.34= 0.68 and will add 250 CP.

The Pelacor Bandit is much cheaper then the Sabre Shark. Lets check the per CP cost of both the cards. Sabre Shark cost 1 CP per $0.04 and Pelacor Bandit cost 1 CP per $0.0027.

Final thoughts - Both the cards has almost similar stats but the price wise Pelacor Bandit is much cheaper then the Sabre Shark. Even the Level 4 equivalent Fold Foil Pelacor Bandit is much cheaper then the normal foil level 4 Sabre Shark.

I really appreciate this type of post. I have 3 sabre shark cards in my collection and often wonder if I should sell and buy something with more rental value. I don't play and only in bronze when I do. I think I have a weird emotional attachment to my old alpha cards. I wonder if it would be worth selling them to get something I can rent out for DEC. hmm?

Last year I also made my mind to sell some of beta epic gold foil, but its emotions only which restrain me.
