The new era of Splinterlands ranked play has started and I have some mixed feelings so far. I will say that it must be tough to balance the desires of players and investors across the spectrum so my thoughts are probably biased to the long time I have been here. However, it feels like I played more than any other Season but have gotten less chests to open. That seems to have been the plan as those chests are much better (not for me). But it kind of bothers me seeing others get so many more chests than me.

The grind was real and so was the competition as everyone now seems to know how important wins are when competing for chests and rewards. It is very penalizing to go on a loss streak now considering how important ECR is in the formula for Rshares. In the end, I think I averaged what I have been seeing recently so good overall although I could not get into the highest division.

New Reward Edition cards is my main catalyst for grinding early on as I need to always have a complete collection. It still feels like the cards rewarded are weighted towards the older ones for me but I know the law of numbers work and it is all in my mind. Always good to get more for my future lands that will need tending.

Brutal markets but only provides more opportunity to accumulate for the future. This may be the phase that makes all the difference for the future ecosystem and sustainability of my Collection. Still committed despite the FUD out there.
I think the Season continues to show me that I just need to get better strategically as a player. The recent market moves has once again reminded me that there is more to this game and economy that the investment side; playing can be fun as well. I continue to be encouraged by what I am seeing within the community created. Looking forward to SplinterFest and the future here!
