Maxing out my chaos deck for splinterlands: Part 2.

avatar

How many cards are in the chaos legion?

As we move forward in splinterlands it looks like it is going to be very important to have a well rounded chaos deck as the season splits into two leagues.

To build out a maxed version of this will likely cost around 10K but there is no time like the present to get it started.

There are no definite sums here but looking at a rough guide to see what would be involved.

  • Common 29 cards, roughly $40 each = $1160
  • Rare 28
    • Monsters 23 cards, roughly $35 each, = $805
    • Summoners 5 cards, roughly $402 each = $2012
  • Epic 17 cards, roughly $90 each = $1530
  • Legendary 22 cards, roughly $91 = $2150
    • Doctor Blight, $1200

That's looking like $7,534 for a full set not including Doctor Blight which would bring it up to $8,734 in a rough estimate.

I had a look at my deck in the original post two weeks ago and with the end of season managed to make a lot of headway into filling out my chaos deck.

Maxing a chaos deck.

The profits were strong for the season and as always they go straight back into my deck.

Current state of affairs.

  • Common (2) 29
  • Rare (9) 28
    • Monsters (9) 23
    • Summoners (0) 5
  • Epic (1) 17
  • Legendary (13) 22
  • Doctor Blight (0) 1

At the time of my last post I had a total of 13 out of the 125 possible cards.

This time i have managed to build up as far 25 as out of the total 125.

That's another twelve cards maxed out in the past two weeks with a big focus on the legendary one first.

Prices are holding steady for the moment but rentals are picking up so every card that i can buy now is there to be added to the rental market and speed up the process to buy the next one.

Some of the legendary cards are still quite expensive but i'm hoping to see a slight drop over time.

Every day is another chance to buy a few more cards from rental income and keep growing out my deck. I can then try to keep adding a few more legacy cards once i get there but it will be a while before i have the funds spare to make those big purchases.

The next steps.

I think that i will focus on the rest of the legendary cards for my next few purchases and get a full section cleared off. I have made a lot of progress on this side of the challenge with nine of them since my last post.

The biggest hurdle to this will be the DR Blight which costs about $1000 so i might put that to the side for now and come back at the very end of this for that card.

Try for yourself.

If you haven't played the game before then now is the best time to join. Today is much better than tomorrow and a lot better than later.

Cards worth a few cents now will have a much higher value in the future as the print runs out. We have a strong community and seen this happen every time as it grows with the game.

There is just so many chaos card. For each splinters you need at least 12 cards to make a decent team. Some low to high mana. I only silver lll so on level 1. I can't afford to max my cards !

Of course not.
Maxing cards is expensive business and only for people with years in the game.
But you can get to that point.

Keep playing and warning rewards. Buy cards, sell them for cards with a high rental return and use that income to buy more cards and move up the levels.

I've been at it for over three years and only now have the income to buy the big cards.

Great collection mate. I never thought about maxing out my cards.

Is it better to max them out or is it better to keep the DEC stack growing?

My aim is to maximize the SPS Airdrop since I don't play, only there to invest.

It's like the cub polycub dilemma.

They will both earn you money but which one is the way to go?

I think that there is a better SPS return on holding Dec in its monetary from.

For me though I want to compete at champion and need maxed cards to do it. I also do a lot of rentals with my cards when they are not in use and make income from that side which might give a better return than the airdrop.

I couldn't say really but the easiest way to get more money is to just hold DEC and enjoy the airdrop for now.

Got it. Thanks mate. I think I will max out some of my cards to get more rent on them. And enjoy the airdrop on the DEC and Collection Power.

It is a lot of dosh.

The good news is that it's all for free by using rental income to buy more cards. Rent those and keep buying more.

It's a grind to the top.

Nice collection!

Would recommend any particular Splinter for a beginner who is aspiring to be a casual player at best to focus on? I have fun playing the game but I don't really want to play the top leagues. I'm happy on Silver or Gold maybe

I think that fire is probably the best and easiest way to get there cheaply.

The summoner is strong and the monsters are cheap. Then you just need to play to the strengths of that splinter and buy cards with sneak and melee to compliment the summoner.

It looks like you are making good progress. I have also noticed that the rentals are starting to pick up and I wonder if it's because chaos legion pack sales are slowing down. Prices for cards were down a bit 2 weeks ago but prices have rebounded somewhat in DEC this week.

Maybe.
I also think that there are a lot of new users coming in again. A couple of the larger guilds have been ramping up operations.
The numbers have definitely gone higher again which is great news.

You're doing the same as me gradually grinding through and maxing out! Don't forget to put a few golds in there!

Ya, trying to build up a competitive modern deck. Starting with chaos while it's cheap but after that it will be onto untamed and dice.

I made the mistake of buying a lot of gold cards last time but only got them to level 7 because of the cost. Now that I want to play at champion it's fully regular cards maxed out for the plan.

I do have a second account that is just for renting and that money is going into the more expensive cards like legendary and gold for more rentals.

When i said gold I really did mean a few, although some of the gold reward cards aren't too bad.

I'll know you're in balls deep when I see with a maxed Epona then!

Now is the time to buy them. We have seen how much the go up when the print runs out.

That's why im buying some to rent at the moment and have them ready to sell in a year or two when the prices moon.

I think we're already in balls deep when my magical cards are worth more than my car or my savings. :D

Interesting, it is probably the best route to go rather than looking to buy expensive Betas.
