Splinterlands Art Contest Week 255 | Vampiro

Hello pretty people of hive, welcome to a new post.

I started this drawing a little late, a digital drawing takes me a few days so as I wanted to fulfill another consecutive week participating in the contest, I decided to do the traditional drawing since I feel I have a little more skill to work faster.

This week's fan art is inspired by the character Vampire, my motivation to do it was because vampires are very popular beings and until now I had not drawn a character of this type, so, here it is.

Process:

I drew the character in the foreground, in a fairly simple composition, but I felt the details were clear and in keeping with the subject matter: the characteristic clothing of rich men of the Victorian era, including Dracula's high-collared cape, just as in the original drawing, I drew a smile on his face playful and somewhat evil. For the background I drew a huge moon peeking out of the window of a castle or building characteristic of the period and some bats flying around.

When I usually work with watercolors, a technique I usually do to diminish the pencil strokes is to delicately pass an eraser over them, taking care not to completely erase the smallest details.

It was time to paint. I already had in mind to make a somber and almost monochromatic drawing, so I started with the most important thing: the vampire. Everything you see was done with just one layer of watercolor, I was careful in every part of the drawing to avoid mistakes. Black is a color that can be a bit complex to use since it is so absorbent that it is difficult to correct if you make a mistake. I thought of letting the watercolor drip by lifting the block vertically to let some drops fall and create an interesting effect in the drawing, what do you think?

I waited a few minutes for the first layer to dry to continue with another one and give more shadow to some areas of the body, especially the suit, and then give color to the background. I did draw the background almost completely in red, in allusion to the blood, besides, it makes a good contrast with the black. During this step I felt excited and really liked how the drawing was developing.

I added another layer of watercolor to the moon and painted the bats, plus I added a kind of dark mist or clouds to create some depth with respect to the character and the space behind him. When I noticed that the paint had already dried, I took a fairly small bevel marker and started to outline the lines in the drawing to make it stand out much more.

With other thin-tipped markers I started to add other kind of details on the character, focusing specially on the suit, and finally I drew some craters and details on the moon in the background. With white acrylic paint I painted some lines around his figure and some glitter on his suit and face.

It is a simple illustration, but I liked the result. I hope you do too, it was a fun drawing to do.

Hola gente linda de hive, bienvenidos a un nuevo post.

Empecé este dibujo un poco tarde, un dibujo en digital me demora unos cuantos días así que como quería cumplir con otra semana consecutiva participando en el concurso, decidí hacer el dibujo tradicional ya que siento que tengo un poco más de destreza para trabajar más rápido.

El fan art de esta semana está inspirado en el personaje Vampiro, mi motivación para hacerlo fue porque los vampiros son seres muy populares y hasta ahora no había dibujado un personaje de este tipo, así que, aquí está.

Proceso:

Dibujé el personaje en primer plano, en una composición bastante sencilla, pero sentí que los detalles eran claros y acordes en cuanto a la temática: la vestimenta característica de los hombres ricos de la época victoriana, incluida la capa con cuello alto de Drácula, y tal y como en el dibujo original, le dibujé una sonrisa en su rostro juguetona y un tanto maligna. Para el fondo dibujé una luna enorme asomándose de la ventana de un castillo o construcción característica de la época y algunos murciélagos volando alrededor.

Cuando suelo trabajar con acuarelas, una técnica que suelo hacer para disminuir los trazos del lápiz es pasar delicadamente un borrador por encima, cuidando de no borrar completamente los detalles más pequeños.

Llegó el momento de pintar. Ya tenía en mente hacer un dibujo sombrío y casi monocromático, así que empecé con lo más importante: el vampiro. Todo lo que ven fue hecho solo con una capa de acuarela, fui con cuidado en cada parte del dibujo para evitar errores. El negro es un color que puede ser un poco complejo de usar ya que es tan absorbente que es difícil corregir si llegas a equivocarte. Se me ocurrió dejar escurrir la acuarela levantando el block de forma vertical para que cayeran algunas gotas y crear un efecto interesante en el dibujo, ¿a ustedes qué les parece?

Esperé unos minutos a que la primera capa se secara para proseguir con otra y darles más sombra a algunas zonas del cuerpo, especialmente al traje, y luego darle color al fondo. El fondo sí lo dibujé casi por completo de rojo, en alusión a la sangre, además, hace buen contraste con el negro. Durante este paso me sentí entusiasmada y me gustó mucho como se estaba desarrollando el dibujo.

Añadí otra capa de acuarela a la luna y pinté los murciélagos, además, añadí una especia de neblina o nubes oscuras para crear un poco de profundidad con respecto al personaje y el espacio detrás de él. Cuando noté que ya la pintura se había secado, tomé un marcador con bisel bastante pequeño y empecé a delinear las líneas en el dibujo para hacerlo resaltar mucho más.

Con otros marcadores de punta delgada empecé a añadir otro tipo de detalles en el personaje, enfocándome especialmente en el traje, y por ultimo dibujé algunos cráteres y detalles en la luna del fondo. Con pintura acrílica blanca pinté algunas líneas alrededor de su figura y algunos brillos en su traje y rostro.

Es una ilustración sencilla, pero me gustó el resultado. Espero que a ustedes también, fue un dibujo divertido de hacer.
