Hi guys! This is my entry for this week's Splinterlands Share your Battle Challenge with the Theme: Dragons. My featured card for this blog is Chaos Dragon.

THE LORE

"Lord General Reinold, of the order of the Silver Shield, sat astride his warhorse and looked out across the vast plains of Ixzoc. Lined formations of warriors stretched as far as the eye could see, from right to left, their tall pikes reaching up to the sky, threatening the sun with sharp spikes. Behind them were great square phalanxes of paladins standing to attention, their cloaks brushing against highly polished plate armour as they waved in the breeze. To either side were his knights, gilded lances pointed to the heavens adorned with pennants denoting the Order of the Shield.
Reinold thought back to their journey from Khymeria to Praetoria. It had taken weeks for the nation's admiralty to sail the army here and now they’d arrived he was unsure of where to go. ‘Close the chaos rift’ the council had instructed, ‘stop the creeping plague’, but this land was so alien from anything he’d ever seen. Aside from the small port at Blue Harbour, they’d not come across any great cities.
His attention was taken as a cloud passed before the sun…no wait, not a cloud. What could be so vast that it could blot the sun from the sky? He lifted his head and looked to where the shape moved. Jagged spikes jutted from the body and head, pointing in all angles before continuing along the back and onto the spine of its long tail that flicked at the air like a serpents forked tongue. The wings were so vast that Reinold swore they could envelope the entire continent in darkness if the creature wished it, or raise an immense hurricane if it were to beat them hard enough. Dark pearlescent scales warped from purples and blacks, to a sickening blood red that made his vision swim. And then it was gone.
The next he knew, a decaying blast of necrotic energy swept across the entire army. Plate armor instantly dissolved in the caustic discharge, skin and flesh bubbling beneath before putrefying into liquid filth. Not a soul was left standing, not one single soldier. Reinold looked down at his own body, a shimmer of white light about him, a persistent and repulsive purple haze pressing in on all sides. There was movement beside him and a cloaked figure stumbled forward into view.
“My Lord, I can’t hold this shield for much longer.”
Reinold felt his skin prickle beneath the relentless weight of chaos. “High Priest Lehin,” he coughed, his throat itching with an acidic burn. “Flee...save yourself. Someone must warn Khymeria.”
Then darkness took him and all was lost."

CARD STATISTICS

Chaos Dragon is a legendary dragon card from the chaos edition with 14 mana. It is suitable to use this card in high mana battles. It has also high hp and magic attacks. At max level, it has 4 abilities namely:

1. Flying - Has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability.
2. Scattershot - This monster's attacks hit a random enemy target.
3. Blast - Does additional damage to Monsters adjacent to the target Monster.
4. Blind - All enemy Melee & Ranged attacks have an increased chance of missing their target.

Based on https://splintercards.com/chaos-chaos-dragon, the burn value of this card's regular foil is 500DEC while 12,500DEC for gold foil. It also shows the list market price of this card for the last 6 months.

BATTLE RULESET

The mana cap for this battle is 58 and the active elements are Earth, Death and Dragon.

Weak Magic - Magic attacks hit Armor before reducing Health. Protect, Repair, and Rust are useful in this ruleset. Beware the opponent could choose only Melee and Ranged monsters, so keep a tank with Shield.

Only Monsters with even Mana costs may be used in battles.
There are no special tricks for this ruleset, but having an idea of the mana points of a few monsters helps in predicting what your opponent can and cannot use.

THE OPPONENT'S LINE UP

My opponent used Lux Vega as his summoner. Lux Vega is the first neutral summoner from the Promo Edition. It has 5 mana and adds 1 speed, 1 hp, and 1 shield to its team members. The tank used by the enemy is Cursed Windeku with thorn and heal abilities. Second in lind is a melee attack monster, harklaw. The next 3 cards are magic attack cards namely Venari Bonesmith, Magi of Chaos, and Doctor Blight. The last row is a range attack neutral card, supply runner.

My summoner Quix is a legendary dragon summoner from the chaos edition with 5 mana and decreases the enemy's range damage and speed. My tank is a rare earth card also from chaos. Mycelic infantry at level 6 has 2 abilities which are shield and giant killer. It reduces damage from Melee and Ranged attacks and does double damage against targets that cost 10 or more mana. 2nd in line is the featured card, Chaos Dragon. This is legendary dragon card from the chaos edition with magic attack. In this battle I used the level 3 of this card which has 4 abilities namely, Flying, Scattershot, Blast and Blind. Third in line is also a monster with magic attack, Queen Mycelia. Next 2 in line are range attack monsters, Zyvax Vuul and Supply runner. And last in line ias Goblin Psychic, the tank healer.

BATTLE RESULT

DID MY STRATEGY WORK?

Yes, my strategy worked great in this battle. I chose a summoner that decreases the range damage and speed of the enemy. I used a tank with a shield and a giant killer ability. I positioned Chaos Dragon next to tank for it to defend the team whenever Mycelic Infantry got down by the enemy. Chaos dragon did a great job in this battle, it does triple damage when attacking an enemy in the middle because of its blast ability. Goblin Psychic was also a big help to chaos dragon by being the tank healer.
