Introduction

A somewhat weak card in theory but really decent when played well. This little chemist is unappreciated in lower league as his abilities are not really that useful on lower leagues but even so, we can still use him on a couple of situations. This is one of those situations that we can use this somewhat confusing card.

Lore

The Realm of Silence lies deep beneath Praetoria. It is home to many creatures who live there all their lives. One such culture is the Scavo. This mole species became corrupted by the toxic gas in the volcano. They became highly intelligent and discovered ways to reduce the impact of the blight on animals and people. The most astute of them became chemists and learned how to create cures and bottle the gas to either help their allies or weaken their opponents.
The cavern laboratory was lit by a mixture of colors from the vials scattered about. Glowing blues, pinks, yellows, and greens all illuminated the walls and the scientist working within.

The small Scavo scurried back and forth, creating mixtures that bubbled and frothed. But he was careful with each one, measuring precisely.
“Excellent,” he muttered to himself, sealing a cork lid on one purple vial. “This will help our soldiers in battle.”

Rental Cost

Scavo Chemist's rental price is at its lowest at the moment allowing you to rent a level 2 of the card for 0.10 DEC per day. However, I would not suggest renting Scavo Chemist at the moment because of the reason that I would state below.

Buy Cost

Since Scavo Chemist is free and not many people use him, the cost plummetted to $0.06. This is an advantage to people who do not have a lot of funds to put in the game like me as we're able to increase the level of the card for future uses.

Card Variations

Hailing from the newest collection, Chaos Legion, Scavo Chemist have two versions, the cheaper regular ones and the gold foil which provides increased DEC gains per win and more power as well for increasing your league rank.

Card Stats and Abilities

Stats.jpg Photo taken from Splinterlands Wiki.

No damage, Cleanse ability at lower levels, feels like Scavo Chemist is really useless, ain't it? If you add the factor that you use Tarsa as your summoner, you can get a decent blocker at a total of 4 health. For a 2 mana cost monster, 4 health can deal with at least 2 rounds of Sneak damage which is good enough of a time to probably kill those opponent sneak monsters with your own sneak monsters. Scavo Chemist is an underrated in this regard especially if we consider him being only at 2 mana.

Cleanse || Removes all negative effects on the Monster in the first position on the friendly team.
Cleanse is a really strong ability that is used to counter counter abilities like affliction. This makes your useless monsters useful again but most useful probably in higher league when more skills are unlocked on monsters. I say probably because I haven't been there. But hopefully, I will be someday and I will go back to this one and say for sure.

Slow || Reduces the Speed of all enemy Monsters.
Speed not only determines who attack first but also increases the opponent's monster's chance to miss. It is really strong as it indirectly adds survivability to your whole team by providing negative status to your opponent's whole team.

Headwinds || Reduces the Ranged attack of all enemy Monsters by 1.
Scavo Chemist's potions not only slows his opponents but also makes them weaker. Headwinds decreases any range damage by 1 which is a good combo with your monster's Shield ability as if the damage becomes 1, it gets completely nullified.

Battle

Below is a preview of the battle for this post.

You can view the full battle here

Team Placement

Positioning.jpg Photo taken from Not4Work's account in Splinterlands.com
  1. Living Lava: Main tank for Fire. He has a shield ability which reduces all melee and range damage by half.
  2. Tenyii Striker: Chaos Legion's sneak lieutenant. One of the strongest card in the game with his sneak ability able to attack opponents from the back.
  3. Scavo Chemist: Our star for this battle. Positioning him at the last position allows you to block sneak damage for 1-2 turns allowing your Tenyii Striker to take care of them before it reach your other back position monsters.
  4. Summoner: Tarsa: Increases all ally monsters' Melee damage and health. Most compatible summoner for Fire as you can use abuse her in all melee team.

Round 1

Round 1 End.jpg Photo taken from my Not4Work's account in Splinterlands.com. Living Lava blocks all damage as opponent doesn't have sneak or opportunity to target the back. Pelacor Arbalest gets assassinated by Tenyii Striker.

Round 2

Round 2 End.jpg Photo taken from my Not4Work's account in Splinterlands.com. Tower Griffin puts 1 damage to Living Lava. Xenith Monk's damage gets nullified by shield ability as it is on 1 damage. Tenyii Striker misses allowing Tower Griffin to survive one more round.

Round 3

Round 3 End.jpg Photo taken from my Not4Work's account in Splinterlands.com. Another miss from Tenyii Striker. The combo of Flying ability and high speed is really useful to counter melee attacks. Xenith Monk dies from 2 separate attacks from Living Lava on the consecutive turns.

Round 4
