Legendary monsters are a differentiating factor in many battles. So, playing without them changes the paradigm on how to make a favorable difference in battle. Luckily for this occasion I decided well, and took advantage of the rulesets to take the victory. This is my participation in this week's Battle Mage Secrets with Lost Legendaries.

Condiciones

En este enfrentamiento de la liga de plata, además de Lost Legendaries, que claramente complicaría la elección de la alineación tanto para mí como para mi rival, también estuvo incluida la condición Are You Not Entertained? Por si fuera poco, la batalla dependería de poder elegir solo entre monstruos de los elementos de vida y tierra, con solo 29 puntos de maná disponibles. In this silver league matchup, in addition to Lost Legendaries, which would clearly complicate the choice of lineup for both me and my opponent, there was also the ruleset Are You Not Entertained? To top it off, the battle would depend on being able to choose only between life and earth element monsters, with only 29 mana points available. However, I already had a clear idea of what I would line up, based mainly on the possibility of playing with Gladius monsters.

Estrategia

Sin monstruos legendarios y con poco maná la opción era clara: Los Gladius tenían que ser mi medio para ganar. Por ello mi invocador elegido fue Lobb Lowland. Si las condiciones de batalla permitían un gladiador en el campo, yo le sacaría el mayor provecho posible con dos.

With no legendary monsters and little mana the choice was clear: The Gladius had to be my means to win. Therefore my summoner of choice was Lobb Lowland. If battle conditions allowed one gladius on the field, I would make the most of it with two.

Alineé a Venari Marksrat en la primera posición, para aprovechar su efecto Martyr y beneficiar a la segunda en la alineación: Quora Towershead, el mejor monstruo de todo Splinterlands. En la tercera casilla posicioné a un Fungus Flinger como comodín para posiblemente aprovechar aún más el favor de Martyr y a Katrelba Gobson que sería, junto con Quora, de quien dependería el poder de ataque de mi lado del campo. De último elegí a un Chaos Agent por si mi rival jugaba con algún monstruo con Sneak y así darle, por lo menos, un poco de tiempo a Katrelba para hacer daño.

I lined up Venari Marksrat in the first slot, to take advantage of his Martyr effect and benefit the second in the lineup: Quora Towershead, the best monster in all of Splinterlands. In the third slot I positioned a Fungus Flinger as a wild card to possibly take advantage of Martyr favor even more and Katrelba Gobson who would be, together with Quora, on whom the attack power of my side of the field would depend. Lastly, I chose a Chaos Agent in case my opponent played a monster with Sneak and thus give Katrelba at least a little time to do some damage.

Desarrollo

Mi rival también jugó con una Quora, pero la mía atacó primero y acabó en seguida con el Mycelic Morphoid que ocupó como tanque. Así, con la primera víctima por delante, el Bloodlust mejoró las estadísticas de mi monstruo. Inmediatamente ocurriría lo mismo con mi Katrelba Gobson que destruyó al Venari Scout contrario. Apenas en los dos primeros ataques ya pude hacerme la idea de que la partida se decantaría a mi favor.

My opponent also played with a Quora, but mine attacked first and immediately finished off the Mycelic Morphoid that he occupied as a tank. Thus, with the first victim ahead, the Bloodlust improved my monster's stats. Immediately the same would happen with my Katrelba Gobson that destroyed the opposing Venari Scout. After just the first two attacks, I could already get the idea that the game would go in my favor.

Por consiguiente los ataques de mi rival solo sirvieron para quitarse del medio a mi Venari Marksrat y mejorar aún más las habilidades de mi Quora que, tras una ronda más, quedaría cara a cara contra la Quora adversaria en una situación mucho más ventajosa para mí, con dos monstruos muy superiores en capacidad destructiva gracias a la combinación entre Bloodlust y Martyr.

Consequently, my opponent's attacks only served to get rid of my Venari Marksrat and to improve even more the abilities of my Quora that, after one more round, would be face to face against the opponent Quora in a much more advantageous situation for me, with two monsters far superior in destructive capacity thanks to the combination of Bloodlust and *Martyr.

Solo bastó un instante más para concretar la conquista con el último golpe de Katrelba Gobson. De esa forma, en un abrir y cerrar de ojos (apenas tres rondas) terminó una batalla complicadísima por todas las limitantes que tuvo para desarrollar una estrategia efectiva.

Only a moment more was enough to complete the conquest with Katrelba Gobson's last blow. Thus, in the blink of an eye (just three rounds) ended a very complicated battle due to all the limitations she had to develop an effective strategy.

Consideraciones finales

Para este tipo de batallas donde se permite alinear monstruos Gladius, siempre que sea viable, opto por jugar con Quora Towershead acompañada de otros con la habilidad Martyr que podrían ser, dependiendo del maná disponible, Marksrat y/o Flinger. Esta estrategia simple resulta muy efectiva en las ligas de plata y oro, que es donde la he puesto a prueba. En parte, sobre eso publiqué un video hace pocos días. Seguramente seguiré aplicándola muchas veces más en diferentes circunstancias.

For this type of battles where it is allowed to field Gladius, monsters whenever feasible, I opt to play Quora Towershead accompanied by others with the Martyr ability which could be, depending on the available mana, Marksrat and/or Flinger. This simple strategy proves very effective in the silver and gold leagues, which is where I have put it to the test. In part, that's what I posted a video about a few days ago. I will surely continue to apply it many more times in different circumstances.
