What is the Future of Splintershards (SPS) - Asking for a friend

Happy Sunday to you my friends on Hive.

I hope you enjoyed your weekend? Please do well to stay healthy this weekend and behind. It is hard to write when your mind is unstable. I had some lingering malaria parasite through the week, it so affected my daily routine. This post would have come days ago, but I am happy it finally came. I am responding to treatments and will be bouncing back this new week.

I have a friend that so loves games. She does it quite well and prefers to hang on with the guys around. She's also acquainted with the cryptocurrency environment though she's yet to be on Hive. Maybe Splinterlands game will bring her here. As I told her about Splinterlands game, my few days of investment play around and how she can be earning some money playing and writing about it. She asked a question that was difficult to answer.

What is the Future of Splintershards (SPS) and even the Splinterlands game?

I have to be truthful, I did not have a ready answer for her. I needed to reach out to some of my senior hive friends and got to read some more about SPS so I can have answers for her.

The post is primarily to hear the views of my friends who understand Splinterlands better. What is the Future of SPS. Thanks for her question because that is what made me to know that SPS is actually called Splintershards.

The learning spiral continues and I am not giving up with it. It is true that when I started engaging Splinterlands game, SPS was my first investment attempt. I bought some 50 SPS and staked it in the game. A week after, I added more. I am happy that the few tokens is still yielding some fractions of SPS and VOUCHERs for me. I wrote about the investment below:

The target is 800 SPS stake by the end of 2022. I am adding them in bits and will make it to myself to reach that target by year end. 50 per week will help me get closer to that target. Fact 1

Knowing where the Splinterlands game is going in the years to come as well as the value of the SPS token is important. I found this tweet about the roadmap for Splinterlands development. I noticed that the developing team are doing their best in terms of meeting the timelines for activities.

We are expecting Land Phase 1, Rebellion, SPS Validators mainnet, SPlinterlnds Validators and land Phase 2 from now to next year. I think all that were slated for this year has been achieved already.

The roadmap shows that Splinterlands game is developing everyday and this will bring more users and investors. I remember that I read some posts on how Riftwatchers packs were sold out in less than 2 minutes and Tower Defense in less than a day. That means there is a trust on the team and many more people are buying.

Fact 2

This weekly writing challenge is also making more hive users interested in the splinterlands game. I believe that one out of every 10 will invest a few Hive or HBD they earn from writing about splinterlands.

Fact 3

SPS is meant to be the central token of the splinterlands ecosystem. It is true that those who stake SPS will receive the GLX token airdrop soon. I am happy I will not miss out of this. THis should be my first airdrop experience.

If everything on the future of Splinterlands is tied to SPS, that means SPS cannot remain at 7 Cents. It is possible that it will soon grow to 10 Cents or 50 Cents or even 1 USD. Who knows when?

I hope with the above three facts, SPS has a good future and I will continue to buy and stake while I wait for that future to come.
