Things to know in Managing an F2P Guild in Splinterlands
Hello Everyone,
This is @phantomx321, moderator and coordinator of Yield Guild (PH). A YGGSPL F2P(Free-2-play) guild established by @knightav in Splinterlands.
Just a quick background on this Play-to-Earn game. Splinterlands is a Strategy-Card-Based NFT Game which is also a game in partnership with Hive. Its somewhat similar with the famous card-game anime Yu-Gi-Oh but with the exception of spell cards. Though this game does not have spell cards, each monster card you play has its own unique skills giving everyone diverse tactics and card combinations to battle with the rest of the players.
If you plan to try and play the game for free you can use this link to register. https://splinterlands.com?ref=phantomx321. However if you wish to get into the play-to-earn part of the game you need to invest only a very minimal fee of around 10USD.
Going back to the main topic of this post. We're going to discuss about things to know in managing an F2P(Free-to-play) guild in Splinterlands. As I've mentioned earlier, I'm currently managing Yield Guild (PH) and I want to share to everyone some insights on how did I manage the guild. See below for a few list and discussion for each item. Hope you learn a lot from this.
1. MEMBERSHIP MANAGEMENT
As you form your guild not just in Splinterlands but in all types of Games (NFT/Non-NFT). Your primary goal first is to on-board new members that will become part of your guild.
In choosing the players to join your guild you have to make sure that a few criteria should be met. In my case, I have 2 criteria in choosing a guild member to onboard if there's any vacancy.
1st criteria is that the player should be actively playing the game if you plan for your guild to prosper you have to make sure that everyone in your guild is active and could participate in the guild's activities (primarily the brawls).
2nd Criteria is that you could easily communicate with them literally. If they have same nationality with you that would be better, but if not you should make sure you could communicate in at least one language you both know of. In my case, the members I onboard in the guild are Filipinos which why the Guild is Named Yield Guild (PH). You can use the guild tavern in communicating with your members but in our case we've created an FB Group Chat so we could easily communicate.
2. BUILDING MANAGEMENT
One of the key features of having a guild is its Buildings. All in all there's 5 Buildings that you're guild needs to raise which are as follows (Hall, Lodge, Arena, Barracks, Store). Each of which has its own perks for your guild every time you get them to level up.
As the guild leader/coordinator you have to strategize as to which Building you have to upgrade first. In my case here's my priority ranking in upgrading the buildings.
- Hall - You need this upgraded to increase max members in the guild and on-board new members.
- Lodge - Gives a small amount of Dec and Focus Point Bonus for all members of the guild for every battle they place.
- Store - Priority on this is to be upgraded at least to level 3 for you and your members to purchase Gladius Packs that you could use in brawl battles.
- Arena - Upgrading this will let your guild choose higher tiers to join in battles. Battle with stronger foes and earn more Merits to purchase gladius packs in the Guild Store.
- Barracks - This should be upgraded at least to level 2 so your members could use gladius cards in brawl battles
3. BRAWL MANAGEMENT
One of the primary activities of each Guild in Splinterlands is the Guild Brawls which usually spans 4-5 days (from Prep Stage >> Battle Stage >> Results Stage).
As the guild leader you have to make sure you could manage your guild members well. Especially in joining brawls. In managing my guild, there's a few points my guild needs to accomplish for us to have a productive brawl and place the guild better in the rankings.
Make sure to maintain 100% fray-fill rate. Currently our guild is in tier 1 brawls and have 13 frays to fill for each brawl. Before the Preparation Stage ends you need to send reminders to your guild members if there's any vacant fray.
Letting your Members join the fray's they are comfortable with and can battle with. In the case for a Tier 1 brawl the frays are divided below:
a. Novice League (All Cards)
b. Novice League (Alpha and Beta Cards)
c. Novice League (Chaos Legion Cards)
d. Bronze League (All Cards)
e. Bronze League (All Gold Cards)
f. Bronze League (All Gold Chaos Legion Cards)
g. Bronze League (Chaos Legion Cards)
h. Silver League (All Cards)
i. Silver League (All Gold Cards)
j. Silver League (Chaos Legion Cards)Placing each members to their comfort league and restrictions can secure us more wins for the brawl.
Make sure all members participating the brawl could place all their battles before the Battle Stage Ends. In my case I send all members that has not yet placed their battles at least 2 Hours before the Brawl ends.
All those 3 items mentioned when accomplished in a single brawl will ensure the guild's rankings in the brawl. As of the moment, our current Average guild brawl rank for the past 10 Brawls is 3rd Place with 2nd Placing being the highest and 4th Place being the lowest.
Parting Post Message
As an F2P guild. You and all of your members are primarily dependent in card rentals to play the game. This is the reason why as part of YGG (Yield Guild Games) Organization specifically Splinterlands our guild gets the needed support in managing our guild well. Primarily the guild upgrades, so all members of the guild can focus more on engaging in the Splinterlands Community and playing the game.
If you wish to join the organization you can join us in our discord servers below
